I`ll never get that design decision, it just so off of the overal design of the guitar. Beside that this one is really brittle and completly worned out. I dunno, maybe it`s just me, but a standard classic looking nut just way more pretty and neat :)
Also I was honored to be the first person who put a new frets here. I rarely see this level of wear on frets that made guitar nearly fretless. When I talked with customer we plan at first save "nibs" on binding that are typical for custom model, but when guitar arrived it came out that there was nothing to save :\
Also we launch YT sponsorship, and already have educational content about fretworks.
Detailed description of video, tools and agents used will be a bit later on my Patreon.

Thank you, you have my utmost respect !! I have a black, ‘72 LP Custom that I bought used in 1972, it was too heavy for the original owner. In the 50 years he’s been with me, it was played extensively, stolen twice and returned and the headstock has been broken off more than 11 times, the bridge, tuners, pickups have all been replaced multiple times . The guitar was never purposely abused, just played hard and much loved. When our bass player hit the headstock with his Pbass headstock, I took it to the Luthier that had lovingly repaired it for over 30 years, we both agreed it was time for retirement. 6 months later I got a call, the LP was repaired. When I walked in the store, my band was there, a bunch of friends.. Gary the Luthier, opened the case and my tired old friend had received a restoration of the same level that you gave this white one. It was pretty damn emotional ! Mine is much more battle scared cosmetically, but the repair on the neck, frets, everything were done perfectly. It did and still does plays beautifully, but not only does it deserve to rest, he’s too heavy for me now ! Again, thank you ! I have to go visit my old friend right now ..

Actually, that wasn't bad at all. Those "WERE" micro-frets, and as such I've seen much worse. The micro's on my '70 custom were worse than that one, and it still played great ! I'm shure she's a fine tech, but technically this is not a restoration. This was a gibson custon "fretless wonder, now it's a gibson custom with jumbo's...................What a shame.

The care and love and respect you show each one of the instruments you work on is truly inspiring. You clearly love your craft as much as the instruments you work on, and if I ever take my guitars to a luthier, I would love to think they would look after them as well as you do. Don't stop what you're doing, even in the face of adversity that your country is facing at the moment. You are doing great things right here, and it's a pleasure to watch you at work 😊

Beautiful work Tanya! I've been doing the same work since 2005. You have some wonderful techniques! I agree, that nut was very strange, your replacement is much better. It is very unusual not to see nibs on the binding! Thanks for sharing.
@jlo7770
@jlo7770 5 месяцев назад
That's cus it's been refretted.. I highly doubt gibson in any era would have cut the nibs off randomly and did a janky job of it to boot. I know there's some that don't come with fret nibs but as far as I know theyre cheaper models.. I would lean towards it having been refretted at some point in its life as you can see where the nibs were, it seems like an odd thing for gibson to do when they pound out these guitars in mass numbers, they'd just throw that in the trash or pull the binding off and redo it. The fact the nut looked like it did kinda makes me think its very possible the guy did too much booze or drugs to remember if it'd been refretted

I’ve been a guitar player since I was 7 years old, “Kurt Cobain and me are the same age”, and I have very hard headed standards about how I need my instruments set up and or customized. She can do it all. Next I wanna see her learn painting night quality Nitro finishes and knocking off Tom Murphy aging for side of this beautiful planet.
