Restoration of ppsh 41 that participated part in the WW II
Restoration of PPSh 41 after 80 years.
Rebuilding the pistol! In today's video, I will show you step by step how to rebuild the 41 submachine gun.
I only use a few simple tools and vinegar to remove rust from the PCA! The recovery of psh41 turned out to be excellent, it looks much better than right after I dug it out.
Hope you enjoyed this vending machine store restore and don't forget to subscribe, hit the Like button and ring the bell and see you in my next video, thanks for watching!

looks good! small gripes i have with it is the fact you left the trigger all pitted, and you painted the gun instead of blued it. aside from that, amazing job. 9/10\
@rodgersmith1573
@rodgersmith1573 3 года назад
You wouldn't be able to blue it after he used the filler to smooth over the pitted areas. Bluing is nothing more than converting active rust (ferric oxide) into in-active rust (ferro-ferric oxide), through the use of high energy (steam, boiling water, etc.), then using a very, very, very fine metal bristle wheel (a carding wheel, NOT a wire wheel..You should be able to touch your hand to it while it runs, and not have to take a trip to the ER), to remove the mung that is left behind in the boiling process. In fact, using degreased steel wool is an acceptable, low cost method of carding. Repeat the process of boiling/steaming (depending on what you are doing) & carding about 7, 8, 9 times, and you can achieve a very respectable blued finish/repair. However, I am empathetic to your gripe. It saddens me to see a wire wheel (one which removes metal) being used on any firearm.
@JustaGuy1250
@JustaGuy1250 3 года назад
@@rodgersmith1573 oh right Didn't think about that one. In that case he should've welded the pits and then grinded it smooth i suppose
@rodgersmith1573
@rodgersmith1573 3 года назад
@@JustaGuy1250 That would be a better option if deciding to blue, sure. However, the amount of pitting that was present on the barrel shroud, receiver, bolt carrier, barrel, and trigger guard, would've made it damn near impossible to make it 'correct' again. For example when the Russians would've been manufacturing the Shpagin, the barrel shroud would have been stamped out from a flat sheet of metal. They would have then bent that sheet of metal into a square tube, and welded, thus a perfectly square part with flat surfaces where they needed to be flat. By adding weld (probably TIG would be best since it's so thin), then attempting to grind it smooth, you are inevitably going to be inconsistent; Some areas will be ground deeper, some will be left raised, and there will be grind marks present. The best solution in *my mind*, would be to attempt welding it, then locking it into a mill vise and finding zero, then mill it flat. However, that even comes with the issue of requiring soft jaws for certain parts, which then makes the project rather cost prohibitive. All in all, I believe what he could've done to make it *somewhat* more decent, is use Cerakote rather than a rattle can found at the hardware store. It obviously still would not be original, but it would allow him to still employ the method of filling in the pits which he chose to do, and have a baked-on 'gun paint' sort of finish, that is very thin, and looks far better. No matter what, the gun is only new *ONCE* in its life. If it were legal to re-activate it into a usable machinegun, then all the effort to return it to its former glory would be time WELL spent. But, for the purposes of being a desk ornament? It's good enough. It brought it back from rotting into nothingness. For now.

Here's a question or two. Will it still fire if you put a real barrel in it? If so, is the receiver registered as a machine gun?
