Restorative yoga for hips is different from other hip opening yoga classes. In this video you're not going to be intensely stretching tight hips or forcing them to open. We're going to be doing the opposite!
In this restorative yoga sequence for hips you will be completely supported by props so that your body can relax, and your tight hips can soften their grip. If you're curious about how this works, watch and practice until the end of the video because you may be amazed at how your hips feel.
It's an honor to guide you through this online yoga class. Tag me on Instagram @carenbaginski so I can see your practice space and what props you used!
After you practice this restorative yoga video, share your experience in the comments - I love hearing from you!

Caren, thank you for producing this film, I hope you don't mind me writing something here about my situation with yoga. I'm 45 now and have returned to live with my father in the house in which I was born in a town in the north of England. I was 28 when I learned how to practise hatha and this combined with strenuous cardio workouts and support from people allowed me to combat the acute anxieties and depressions which had plagued my life since I was a teenager. I had to be very disciplined and work hard but I was determined to fight and you would see me out running in boots at 2am when it was snowing if that's what was necessary. By 2017, aged 43, I was weary of the efforts I had to make. It was my own mistake Caren, it was my choice but I became attached to someone who I hoped would help me but instead he exploited and humiliated me. I became emotionally dependent upon someone who chose to neglect me and laugh at my misery as my acute anxieties and depressions returned to haunt me. I have rarely had the energy to run or practise hatha for over 2 years now. I returned to live with my father in March. My nightmare continues as I stay in the house here paralysed with depression and still emotionally dependent on someone who has treated me with contempt. It is only right that I say that I often feel that my only way out of this misery is to end my own life. Local mental health services tell me I have a spiritual problem rather than a medical one! They decline to assist me. Please, please, please consider sparing me a thought Caren as I continue to find hope that the Universe will at some point liberate me from my misery, release me from feeling dependent upon someone who has treated me with such contempt and provide me with who and what I need to resume my lifestyle and therapy of vigorous cardio and hatha yoga again. Thank you Caren and God bless you, Michael

Hi Michael, I'm sorry to hear about the tough time you're going through. I found this website that has free services in the UK regarding the thoughts you've been having: www.nhs.uk/conditions/suicide/ I am not trained to help you in this matter, but I am sending you much love.

This is by far the best yoga sequence I have ever done for my particular hip issues. I realized after the class was complete just how much tension I am carrying. Thank you so much for this amazing practice Caren! I will be coming back to it frequently to heal my hips.

Thank you for this beautiful practice and your calm presence. As always I could have stayed so much longer in the poses and I’m always sad when the class is over... 😊

Beautifully led, very nice series. Pigeon pose this way is inviting, even. Many thanks!

You're welcome. I find it helpful to seek the softer side to familiar asanas.

Dear Caren.. I came to your class because I noticed that whilst doing deep stretches in yoga something in my bottom left spine area freezes and tenses up. This didn't feel right to me to continue practicing the way I did so I looked for something gentle. Funny enough I feel release in my hip flexors and pelvic floor area after your class. Wow.. What a feeling. I will be back for more supported hip opening, with gratitude 🙏🌺

Thanks for sharing this with me! I find that doing less is often more when it comes to holding space for our body to experience softening and relaxation.

I'm really looking forward to doing this practice on Thursday. I like to have loads of time when I do a restorative practice, my body and mind love it! I always finish with a long yoga nidra. I try and do this twice to three times a week. I love hatha, yin and a short vinyasa but this is where I benefit the most. Thanks Caren, love and light 🧘‍♀️💜🧘‍♀️💜

@@carenhope being centred and being more balanced - physically & mentally, if that helps!

Yes, thanks for elaborating. Absolutely, many yoga practices are very helpful for becoming more balanced in mind, body and spirit. Yoga is the method and the goal of remembering the core of who you really are. 💜

@@carenhope That is really interesting and i am so grateful to you for sharing your wisdom - i had no idea at all it could be the goal of remembering the core of the person that you are - i have only done yoga once and i did struggle with it but i will return to the method - i need to give it patience and understand that the process for me, will be a gradual one - thank you!

@@johncharles5065 Absolutely, happy to help you on your journey. :) Most people know yoga as just the poses, or asana, however yoga is much more than that. It's truly a science + philosophy to reduce suffering and increase well-being.
