Restore Black Trim The Right Way (Won't Wash Off)

Restoring trim can get frustrating, especially if you're constantly using products from your local auto store.
Those products are dressings that wash off. Our product is different. ExoForma Black Plastic and Trim Restorer uses dyes to naturally bring the trim back to a rich black color. Since it uses dyes, it won't wash off. It permanently dyes the trim. On a garage kept vehicle, it can last forever. If the vehicle is outside all day, the rich black look will last you 6 months to a year.
For really faded trim, apply 2 coats back to back.

I have a jeep cherokee that I have owned for 18 years. Had really faded black plastic fender trim and bumper corners. Around 2005 in the recesses of an internet forum I found a post that was quite convincing regarding a trim restore product. Long story short 300,000km, 18 years later all outside that plastic still looks great after one application. It was a thick clear oily liqiud in a spray bottle. Spray on a rag, apply, wipe off excess, let dry, do it again. You think I can remember the name? Nope. Not that it would matter because if they were still in business it would be a household name. Wouldn't doubt if one of the other companies bought them out and shut it down. Trim products that last like this one would be bad for business.

It has a “dye” content. What other inert ingredients does it have? I have a 2008 motorcycle (kept inside) but ridden often. All black with some black plastic components. Very particular about what oil, filters, fluid brands, parts,cleaning agents, even stay ahead of recommended servicing parameters. So, please answer promptly. Same care for my 2006 Honda Accord, and yes my 31yr old tractor mower. “Care” is everything.

Any product or best way to kind of mask, hide or make not so visible a couple of small light scratches on new matte black plastic car trim? The scratches are on the inside side of my right side mirror. The scratches appear as small white lines when in sunlight. Can't see then much when in shade. The car has only 800 miles and I have to look at the scratches every time I look out the side mirror. Painful on a brand new car. If they were somewhere else it wouldn't be as annoying. Not sure how it happened. I wash the car by hand. I was hoping it was just dirt but it's not. Doesn't wipe off. I didn't find any rocks or glass stuck in my sponges or wash mitt but buying new ones anyways. Not worth replacing the mirror. Just want to make it less noticeable. Would any of the typical back to black products help on new black matte trim or just make it worse?

Minimally, because the product performs best once it's penetrates the pores of the surface (won't as well the second layer). We recommend putting a coating or sealant over top to prolong life!

@exoforma8986
@exoforma8986 4 года назад
Hey, Los! Thanks for the comment. It's always smart to prep the surface before applying this product. This helps ensure that the black dye can properly penetrate the plastic and adhere correctly (help get more longevity out of the results). Isopropyl alcohol helps remove any oils/residues that may be on the surface that could potentially interfere.
