A massive restoration of the upper leather. New original soles, elastics, tugs and heel socks. Repair cracked heel stiffners, new heel lining, new leather insoles and reconstruct the shoe from nailed sole, to blake stitched.
I have had both my RMs resolved and restored. Fantastic. New boots for half the price. They actually fit me better. Secondly, watching any tradesman apply their trade is always amazing to watch.
Fascinating process and well done. And the price being essentially the same as a new boot doesn’t surprise me at all - we just essentially watched boots remade to perfection so it makes sense that they’d cost about what a new boot would. Bravo!
That is some excellent work sir, you just about remade those boots, i especially admire the ingenuity of using the blake stitched midsole as a sort of welt 👍
Awesome! I’m sorry I did not see this earlier, but I will now purchase another pair after daily wearing my first pair every day for 12 years. Best boot or shoe I’ve ever had.
I got excited thinking I could take my RM's there to get repaired as I live in Adelaide where these boots are made but after a quick google search I find out that Davidsons Skomakeri cobblers are in Sweden. RM wants $500 dollery doos to do a restore, I can buy new boots for that price.
G'day and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 you have done a marvellous job of restoring these boots I didn't know you could fill large cracks in the leather and they end up looking brand you. Looking how you got them to how they finished off is remarkable. Anyway I enjoyed watching that kind regards John PS I have subscribed
I love watching this kind of work, but I much prefer hearing the craftsman talk about what he's doing, rather than just having it set to background music.
Some people like that. Some like my format. I chose this format for a bunch of reasons. The main one is that I would feel foolish talking in english, just to reach a bigger audience, when my main market is in Sweden. But plenty of american cobblers narrate their videos, dragging them on for up to 30 min. I'm sure you can get your fix there, and as a change you can watch my format if you like.
@@davidsonsshoerepair mate can I send you a busted arse old pair of RMs to look at. It you can’t fix them bin them. They would make a fantastic video if you could pull it off.
OMG ! You brought this dead piece of leather BACK TO LIFE ! I have a pair of Stone Haven from Italy boot also with some deep leather cracks but with condition NOT so worse as this pair, how much your charge would be ?? Let me know ... Thanks !
The only caveat to his is that Blake stitching limits the resoling of the shoe in future. That said, blundstones aren't going to last as long as other Goodyear welts, so it's up to wearers preference
Not yet, but preparations for international shoe service are being made. I'll make a short video when it's up and running. Subscribe to my channel and you will be informed when it's up.
No. The Yardboot is a special construction with glued and nailed/screwed soles originally. I opted for a similar repair but with stitches instead of nails/screws. I did much more than glue the upper. I glued the largest cracks with a neoprene based leather glue, tapped them and then started a tedious work with filling the rest of the cracks with a combination of products. Many, many applications and sandings. How it will hold up over time is up to the customer. It will require some TLC of the boots, but the repairs tends to last much longer than I had originally thought when I started doing these jobs. Time will tell, but I recently started and it will require many years before I get enough feedback on how it ages.
Awesome job. I may have my business partner bring my cracked leather shoes to you when he comes back home to Sweden. Do you do rubber soul loafer repairs? I'm assuming yes after watching this vid.
