Those scratches on the hood that the compound “made more evident” is called crows feet. It’s cracks in the paint and it’s the primer underneath that you can see. Only way to get rid of it is repainting. Love your shit Robbie. Amazing work 🦐. Also it didn’t have anything to do with the previous owner. Just happens too old paint.
@levismith1049

Before repainting, you have to sand right down to bare metal to get rid of the crows feet

My 2 cents: -for the long haul get Flex polishing machines -heavy cutting: Meguiar’s mf discs -pads: Rupes/LC/Meguiar’s -product: Rupes/Meguiar’s/Carpro

Professional detailer here, if you want more aggressive cut with the rotary buffer, use a wool pad with maguire's m105 compound, follow that with maguire's m210 polish with that "finishing pad". I always recommend to beginners to go with a da buffer( dual action) itsbeasier to use. Meguiars cut and polish microfiber pads and the compound and polish i mentioned above. Solid results for a first attempt.

Na you actually dont need that much compound. A couple dots on the pad for every section should be fine

Detailing is super slept on by most car channels! Makes the build look so much cleaner! For next time, use a dual action polisher, microfiber cutting pads for bad scratches and intermittently clean out your pads with compressed air or a little wedge. They get clogged up with clear coat and product and stop cutting. Mothers products probably "dust" a lot so that's why you were getting all those dots. And Maguire's ultimate compound and polish are some of the best over the counter products in my opinion!

I don’t know how to describe the style of the new videos but I love the fact that he isn’t doing astronomical things in each video. It feels great and relatable to see my favorite RU-vidr sometimes on the car lift instead of always in the shop! Keep it up Robbie! You’re a serious inspiration!

If you sand the headlights up to about 2000 grit, clean the lenses really well, and then spray with clear spray paint they will stay clear for a long time. I've done this to multiple cars. Love the content!
@adamberg4143
@adamberg4143 4 года назад
hey Robbie car came out looking good. if you want to be a little more aggressive with the compound switch to a microfiber pad it will get more of the swirl marks out. the flinging of the products is the machine itself rotary polishers are known for that dual action polishers don't do that as much. don't quote me I could be wrong just learned that from my own experience
@bcdetails5306
@bcdetails5306 4 года назад
Also, the sling was because you are supposed to put the pad on the car, spread it on a super low speed and then work it in once it is spread. The pad probably didn't cut as much because it might have gotten clogged with compound/polish you need to clean the pad out every so often. Dope to see you trying new things brotha, keep up the good work 👌🔥

Hey Robbie, I gues these Sprinkels from polishing came because the pad was fresh and not soaked with polish😅 I started with detailing bevor maybe a year and I would recommend you an eccentric Polishing Mashine instead of a rotary, with an eccentric your not running in danger to burn your paint as fast as with a rotary because these are producing way more heat 😅 hope that maybe helped a little bit 😁 I‘m loving your Videos, they‘ve inspired me often and brought a smile up to my face☺️ Sorry if my English isn’t that good but Greetings from Germany 🥳

The reason you got white specs flying everywhere is the pad needs to stay in full contact with the paint at all times. Thats why pros use 2in polishers in combo with a 5 or 6in. Also I notice you're using a rotary, I'd highly recommend a Duel action if you still have any doubts about burning through clear coat.

Hey Robbie, love your videos bro 🙏 Dope to see you're getting into detailing. Since you're just starting out I would recommend you get a Dual Action polisher it is less likely you will burn through the paint vs the rotary polisher that is more likely. Since that seems to be one of your main concerns it would take care of that. Keep the dope videos coming 🔥🔥🔥

I've also found that throwing a piece of fine line or regular masking tape on hard body lines while polishing lowers chances of burning through. then take it off and hit the area lightly.

Robbie the white dots are polishing compound that was scattered by the machine . To prevent that you should rub the compound and let it haze before polishing . Also wipe all the dots or it will stain the mini bike.

@HarlanMangulis
@HarlanMangulis 4 года назад
Scrolled through a few comments and didn't see anything so. To eliminate the sling (dots). you put the compound on your pad, rub it around on the car. No power. Then put it on the slowest setting and spread it around a bit until it's all a thin coat, and when all the globs of compound are gone, you can turn the speed up. This will stop the sling. Also don't buff plastic, mask it off. I think that license plate area is going to look r e a l bad here shortly but we will see. See yah in the next one.

For more aggressive buffing what you would need is what i heard be referred to as a "cutting wheel". however i would recommend to only use it on paint where there is absolutely no concern of "burn through", so basically if the clear-coat is still intact and if there's no evidence of previous "burn through". you can also get more aggressive buffing compound as well. These items make it easier to hide (if not get rid of altogether) much deeper scratches, however i have accidentally burned through paint a couple of times using these items on the corners of some panels so you do need to be mindful. Also using these products do need to be followed up with everything you did in this video to make it look nice afterwards. Also I wouldn't buff a car without clear-coat to protect it, this might explain your previous negative experiences. I don't consider myself a professional on this topic but regardless i hope this helps.

I do wonders with a cheap harbor freight dual action polisher, 2 variations of foam pads, and meguiars m105 and m205 and a synthetic paint sealant. You don’t need fancy or expensive stuff if you are just a weekend warrior. I’ve polished/cut everything from a 1953 Ford with original paint to my 2016 Chevy. Honestly, with all the equipment for a full on paint correction+protection maybe twice a year on 3 cars you can get by for probably years on $250usd. I understand you’re in Canada, but I’m sure there’s affordable but good polishers out there on Amazon for less than $100.

The thing going on with the beads all over the place is when you have a lot of polish on the pad. Put the polish on the pad and then dab all over the section that you are gonna polish before turning the machine on. Then go slow at first until the polish feels like its in the paint and then go hard balls to the wall lol. Then finish with wiping off the excess with a microfiber.

FIRST, before you polish, always always always lightly mist your polishing pads with distilled water, keep doing it intermediately while polishing, it keeps the polish working, and prevents burn more/easier smoother to polish.. make sure to clean those pads out. you can soak them in water, then run your hands through them, and after the bulk water drains out of them put them on the machine and turn it up to the highest speed and itll sling all the compounds out. also You were using way too much polish. your suppose to put small dots across the pad, one light spray of mist, and begin. good video though bro
@FluxegamingHD
@FluxegamingHD 4 года назад
Really not bad for the first try! And the little dots on your shirt is pretty normal its just the polish on the side of the pad if you keep the pad straight you wil have less dots everywhere and this can happen if you use to much polish but that wasnt the case. Funny thing is this video reminds me of the time i worked at the car factory and polishing cars i once cut open a polish pad on the side en filled it to the max with polish and put the pad on a co workers machine the whole car was coverd with polish when he started had to see his face priceless 😂😂😂

You could still get more out of the paint by using a compound rather than a Polish first. Use a compounding pad as well with it. Don't use a a wash with wax in it or a spray wax while claying it, because you'll have to cut through all the wax with the compound process. The rest of your steps were great!

So the major reason why the compound is flying all over the place is because you have the buffer on too high of a setting and you're using too much compound in one spot. Work in small areas and you won't need more then 3 dots on the pads. make sure once you are done in that area use a microfiber and buff is until the product is off of it. It makes it a lot easier to get it off and I find it gives better results

6:43 Robbie I know you knew to detailing so for future reference when you clay bar a car you never use the whole bar just a small piece you rip off, about a quarter size not to thick too you want to be able to slide your fingers without putting much pressure. Also when the piece gets clogged up with nasty stuff you fold it on itself to get clean surface until you think it’s too dirty and get a new piece.
