I remember seeing this episode years ago, and I honestly don't think I want to watch it again. The suffering of that young man is harrowing. The moment when he literally falls into unconsciousness from the pain, experiences a moment of peace, only to wake up to the same pain a few seconds later, is genuinely haunting.

Yeah, it’s incredibly sad. Lee seems a great guy & this is a terrible affliction for one so young. He really tries so hard to be chipper & brave but it’s obvious the pain is excruciating. This is a terrible blight on someone who’s only 24. I really hope they find some cures/better management of Behçet’s in the future. Poor Lee! 🙁

I’m not a doctor and I know this is like ten years old, but I knew someone with Behçet’s disease, and they were in nowhere near that much pain. What it does remind of is something that afflicted my mom called Meralgia Paresthetica. She was put on neurontin/gabapentin which saved her life bc she would’ve ended her own life bc of the unrelenting pain.

I had a paronychia on my toe about a month ago. Have had them many times so I just kept draining it and usually after 3-4 days it will heal. This time it didn't, and it got so bad I was having problems walking and redness was radiating up. The ER doctor understood when I said I get them and they'd usually be gone by now, that is why I never saw a dr until then. Turns out the pressure from my shoe during standing at work was what was causing it to get worse. Antibiotics and a note off for 4 days with instructions to not wear any shoes at all for 2 days and it finally went away. I didn't wait for 2 weeks though lol

Yes the chronic pain is unbearable, but because there isn't a physical wound to go with it they treat it as a thing of naught. The pain I can promise you is just as real as the pain cancer patients feel especially when it goes on for a long time and it gets completely beyond reason. If they would just listen to us and get it under control within the first 15 minutes things wouldn't go out of control like Blood Pressure, tachycardia. We have no control of what or brain perceives as pain. All we know is that is real as real can get. Normal doses of meds don't work for us, it has to be enough to take a horse down and even then it doesn't work to take the pain away. We aren't drug seekers because the drugs don't work the same on us. What would make you high as a kite, barely takes down the pain us. It just doesn't work correctly.

I'm 24 years in and still fight this battle of convincing Dr's I'm not a drug seeker, I'm truly inn pain. You can't fake your Blood pressure at 220/112. You can't fake your heart rate in the 150's. It's not a mental disability its a metabolic disorder, where your kidneys and liver and heart fight you.

I watch this from the US and I wouldn’t miss an episode , It has given me so much knowledge about A&E patient injuries and treatment . I have learned so many medical terms . It was so helpful when a friend was in very critical condition due to heart issues . He was hanging on by a hair and had many procedures done over 3 months and I knew what the medical terms they were going to do . With prayers and I give glory to god for his recovery and to the Drs and nurses and therapist who did the leg work to save him . He is coming home this week and Drs and therapist are calling him a miracle . It was gods choice to save him , I give glory to god and a huge appreciation for the many , many Heath care workers who had a hand in it !!! ❤

Watching Ahmed thinking that has to hurt. I dislocated my shoulder and elbow (same arm different times) when I was under 5 years old by playing around when my dad was holding my hand. No memory of it. I remember my mom said that when I dislocated my elbow, the pediatrician wanted to wait a week and then break my arm to fix it. I got a new pediatrician. I just find it interesting that I have zero personal feelings (just basic human sympathy) for injuries similar to what I had that I have no memory of.

He had a shoulder pain was screaming taking 2 strong pp. and went back to hosp…..I have 9 or more health problems I never screamed once when my colon blew a hole they cut me hip to hip sent me home like that .ya I cried I never screamed or cussed. I took 1 pp I was like that for 5 months had crush leg I didn’t scream I taught it was sprain until my Daugherty in law said your leg should not be shaking like that I could walk .took to hosp I my hubby was shocked when they told him I had to have emergency surgery so I had to go to another hosp was in a long time.then was down for a long time in wheel chair … had 7 more surgeries since then .have a feeding tube iv because when colon blew . My throat closed up .but I know God with me has a reason for my pain…I’m never out of pain…

Dude with the bruised toe…well I understand where he is coming from and that toe injuries hurt like a mofo. Been there myself, though what I thought was a bruised foot that just needed some rest turned out to be three broken toes (in a spectacular mixture of blue and violet, with a subtle green hue around the edges). So back then my mum had the right hunch to insist on taking me straight to hospital. I am not saying that him waiting for a few weeks and then going to the ER was a smart move. He probably short circuited a little when he realized that things were not really getting better and that he would need to wait another few weeks for an appointment (meaning more time in pain) at his GP. And his head went „Nope, screw that, you’re going to the ER“. so in essence, this is another case of somebody treating the emergency department as a sort of express lane for medical services.
