I liked the original better, but it was so satisfying to finally see a way to kill these zombies. In the original, everything the characters tried either didn’t work or made things worse.

Still one of the most horrifying kinds of zombies IMO. There are like two known ways to handle them, Electricity to fry them, or you can cryogenically freeze them but that's extremely temporary.

I remember in the original, the characters burned one of these zombies until he was nothing but ashes, and the smoke from the burning body contaminated the sky, causing the virus to fall right back down through acid rain, and reanimate and entire graveyard. A nuclear strike did the exact same thing to an entire town.

makes sense that the zombies can be killed by electricity, after all the nerves can be stimulated by electricity but too much electricity simply destroy the nerves.

@@l21n18 Oh geez where to begin. It's supposed to be a sub station or it has been made to look like one. So that's 13,200 volts. The panel that shorts out first is a 480 3 phase panel that at most would output 600 volts. When it shorts you see the zombies being electrocuted but the electric is coming out of the insulators...... In order for them to fry they'd have to be grounded in series with the line transmission and where it actually grounds at the lugs. The human body is a giant resistor, as defined by the Electrostatic Discharge Association (ESDA) at 100p F capacitor in series with a 1.5k Ω resistor. The substation would have interlocking safeties and tie breakers would separate the circuit so once grounded the breakers would open and instantly trip shutting the substation down or the circuits that were loaded and grounded as a result of a short. What would have potentially happen is the Zombies touch transmission line and blow up and or burn while the breakers instantaneously tripped. They would have no way of holding that long and cross circuits all down the substation would not have continued to supply line voltage without overloading.

Capcom used many ROTLD references for their games: the dead rising from the graves was used in RE3 and Code Veronica and electrocution is also used to kill the zombies or creatures

The first one was more scary and depressing (been dead hurts,all zombies are almost unkillable)...it also end in a nuclear mortar strike that destroyed the entire city (probably that give the idea for other zombie films and the endings in RE2 + RE3.)

To be fair, one of the electrified zombies about 3/4 of the way through this clip *is* doing either the boogaloo or the frug -- I can't recall, been the mid-'60s since they were popular. But he's slowly windmilling both arms backward one after the other, over his head and behind him, full circle, while shuffling the feet and swaying the hips gently from side-to-side.

Well, the zombies in the Return of the Living Dead series were different than conventional zombies. They retained their intelligence and were only interested in eating brains to ease the pain of being undead. They were also incredibly hard to kill; electricity was the only thing that worked.

Anyone find it funny that we never saw what happened to James Karen and Thom Mathews characters in this film even though we saw what happened to them in the first one as Karen's character cremated himself and Mathews character was nuked along with nearly everyone else at the end of the film and we never saw them with the horde at the end of this film so what happened to them I sure would like to know.

Gotta watch the electricity scene in slow motion! This was hysterical! @36-39 sec. that one zombie on the right in the tan suit is practically doing the Twist. Then you see him amongst other zombies dancing with his arm in the air back and forth. Then again at 1:04 the 2 in the front are dancing, others are headbanging, and you can see the hard work put into the makeup FX. It's great.

I met a guy at the Rencon (Renton, Wa. Comicon) a few years ago that could pass as Bruce Campbell's double. In fact he's often mistaken for him. I imagine Bruce is just as cool as this guy. It's too bad he couldn't be in this movie...Bruce I mean.
