The zombies have returned! The horror begins again as mysterious barrels bounce off an Army transport as it passes through a new housing development and land near an abandoned cemetery. Mischievous neighborhood boys discover the barrels and open them, unaware of the evil contained within. A deadly green vapor escapes and turns the living into flesh-eating zombies and causes the dead to rise from their graves. As these hideous living dead hunt down the fresh human brains they need, man is pitted against man, and the living against the dead. It is a macabre struggle for survival!

This trailer scared tf outta me when I was younger, I was living on a Navy Base that looked just like this neighborhood.. and, they’d have military vehicles carrying containers like that sometimes. 80s rocked

Really. All they left out was the scene with the dialogue from the sassy Southern lady zombie severed head. Other than that, you just essentially saw the whole movie. Movie trailers used to be so brazen back then, in terms of spoiling their own products before the masses even had a chance to buy a ticket. Especially horror films; they were notorious for advertising almost every death scene right there in the trailers.

Just watched it over a week ago and I really love this entry, sure it's goofier than the original but it's still entertaining. It's a personal favorite of mine cause I love the cartoony nature it has throughout the film. Don't get me wrong, the original ROTLD is a horror classic in its own right and it's the one film that horrified me but I always love goofy horror movies that go in a cartoony direction like Ghoulies 3, Gremlins 2, Army of Darkness and Dr. Giggles.

A personal favorite of mine, I love that it's basically a soft reboot while being a continuation of the original. Also I love how cartoony the sequel is.

Do you know where the scenes in the film were shot ? In particular the scenes of the cemetery (those which take place by day, with the three boys, before the zombies leave their tombs) ? Were they shot in a real cemetery or in a studio?

I thought it was ok but ultimately a missed opportunity for the sequel, I mean a director who admittedly hated horror movies and didn't know what to do with the project hence the un-needed overuse of humour, they should have gone with the Don Calfa storyline idea a direct sequel with the original cast set after the nuke co-ordinates were off a few miles with those still trapped in the warehouse basement etc

I want to buy this, but they've only released it on region A blu ray. I'm in the UK and can't play region A blu rays. I can play region 1 DVDs but they said they're not releasing it on DVD.

I would accept a reboot if it's done by people who love the original and the sequel to an extent, it needs to honor the dreadful terror that the original induced and it needs to funny at the same time. AND I can't stress this enough cause Part 4 & 5 clearly ignored, the zombies NEED to be hard to kill instead of being easy to kill. Sure in one of the potential sequels it should introduce the weakness that Part 2 introduced, electrocution neutralizes the gas while destroying their cerebral function.

you can get a region free player man, i got one for 70$ and it does blu ray and dvd, best money ever spent. never have to fuss over what version of the film i get cause so little of the stuff i like comes to Australia or if it has been out of print and costs more than the player itself

I'm in favour of this sequel...now is Jessie Wilson (bert Wilson) from part 1 's son ??? It's possibly set now in Californias valley,not Louisville Kentucky as in part one..hence set in Los Angeles...and Wen Tom Matthews says " we been here before to James Karen" you were in it before!!! You opened the canister,ain't you learned yet!!! You near dead - again,alot of people didn't like the sequel,I preferred part 1..yet return of living dead 3 came out in mid 90's ( not the best) then part 4& 5 ,,,I don't think they reached out the local video shop they were that awful...🤪 A shame really to a great classic
