My dad was in the Army and we lived on base. We went to the base movie theater to see this. When those soldiers started shooting the whole theater erupted in applause. Good memories.

@@radicalthunder5740 It was the 80s, Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. Lots of young newly enlisted troops, and the height of the cold war. That scene of Army soldiers taking on impossible odds was enough to get the whole theater cheering. You had to be there.

One guy, even shared to me how when he was a kid. he saw the uncut version of The Lost World: Jurassic Park in Yokota AB, Japan. His mother was a USAF personnel stationed in Yokota.

For those wondering, the zombie here are unkillable by conventional means. They won’t die with headshots and decapitation. They are basically near-immortal. Only nukes, electricity, and fire will kill them.

Alex Damand Trioxin gas mutates the zombies here to near-immortal status. Part of the writers’ plot to distinguish it from the Romero zombies. Trivia: This was a “take that” to the Romero zombie genre. Romero actually sued the producers of the Living Dead series for copying the “Dead” trademark but the court overruled it. However, Romero later learned to enjoy the Return of the Living Dead franchise itself!

@@Gillan1220 if you understand ballistics an M60 uses 7.62 mm round. basically with the rate of fire and these huge rounds would tear you to shreds. so sure the zombies are not killable but they couldn't move considering they're literally shredded up.

@@viniciusvalois2634 Yeah. Most zombie movies basically see zombies as monsters who move around like damaged but functioning machines. And they can be killed like normal animals. However, these are basically humans with their intelligence and consciousness still with them. It would be like waking up from a coma and realizing that your body seems more fragile and every part of you feels as if it is bitten by a dog non-stop. And only the urge to attack humans and living creatures in order to find the best painkiller, brains. (Though I don't get why they had to do brains in particular out of every existing organ on a human).

@Caped Critique Zombies are not bulletproof, as a human isn't. If anything they are more fragile because they've been rotting. The gas raises the dead but doesn't grant them kevlar skin.

That's cute you think that traditional bullets work doesn't matter how many pieces there are of them you can't burn them you can't nuke them you can't drown them and forget about silent melee weapons if somehow you managed to tear one of these guys up enough they release toxics that you inhale and then will turn into one of them within 24 hours if I remember correctly it takes 8 hours to start showing symptoms

They are still made out of ordinary human tissue and need to have intact bones in order to stand upright. High-powered rifle bullets, especially the ones from that M60 machine gun, should have been able to shatter some vertebrae, pelvises, femurs or tibiae, and made at least some of the zombies unable to walk.

Trioxin does not make them more durable. All it does is reanimate them. IN Part one they are able to easily knock the head off of Tarman with a single bat swing.

by far the most dangerous zombies in any film, only thing that comes close is the Splinter monster in 2008 though technically not a zombie.

@38 seconds sad to see one zombie carrying his corpse bride. The zombie at 1:45 is smoking a cigarette or cigar, lol. Gotta watch the zombie scenes at slow speed to really appreciate the great practical makeup effects. It's creepy when they shout brains! in slow-mo. lol

@@trudellwbird3814 these zombies are the worst, because as slow as they are, they're hard to take down. That's true about the town, unless they'd been evacuated. Didn't seem like it. Plus the zombies just ran through the streets, they weren't smashing up places to get to people. (hey, they're more decent than the current rioters!) For some reason, they only happened to bust into the kid's house. lol

@@trudellwbird3814 They were probably just hiding in their homes. I would try, and if I had a basement hide in there too. I don't know. That might not be a great idea, they still broke through in Night of the Living Dead.
