According to my old Skidoo racing manual these machines with the low windshield on the Mach Z, are wind tunnel tested with the driver tucked down behind the the windshield. This makes a difference of up to 5 or more mph in no wind conditions.
You are correct my friend. If you really want to slow a sled down add tons of studs with steel backers or a paddle track. My 2000 MXZ 700 would do 106 with the stock track and 88 with 1 1/4 track. That was stock. After mods It was up to 117 with 96 studs down the center and polymer backers. Reshaped the domes, added ufo's, carbon reeds Goodwin clutch kit and secondary helix/ spring. Different gears, low windshield, but stock pipe and can. Loved the flow maser sound of the stock system. Ahh, the good ol days, when you could buy an awesome new sled for $7000. Now they are the cost of a brand new 96 impala SS. Ridiculous.
I had a 2004 Blair Morgan 800 I built the motor I topped out at 117 miles an hour on gps felt really good I also had a 1999 triple formula III loved that sled too now it’s 2007 Mach Z 1000 super fast for normally aspirated machine love the triple sound!
Are you set for a distance? If so guns usually shorten the track up vs timing system. Clutching is off if belt is that hot. Do a warm up stand , cold motor hot pipe makes more mph. Slide lube and get rid of wheels makes more speed, lay down behind windshield better and run a lower windshields. That sled to get to 110mph in 1000' is very doable but you have a lot of work to get there. Xcr 800 show room stock can do 108mph with just good chassis setup and proper speed running procedure, little jetting good gas!
Great video!!! Are you peddling the gas or cluch shifting with the Rev drops? Those machs are 120mph+ machines when you roll up on the throttle down the lake or trail. Absolutely love the muscle sled of the big four brands. They push ones question " Holly f#@k " to how fast you want to go. Google grip 115mph is an every day speed. 122mph your hook and alive. I've seen 129mph down ice with no extra favoritism with a 809machz . Great video to help keep alive the muscle sleds and 3 cycl addiction. Just purchased a 2002 mach z with 4200km on it super clean machine. Of you guys keep us in the loop for the 3 cycl tour/day/weekend I'd love to join. Ride safe, arrive alive. God bless sleds!
I’ve owned 2 Mach Zs. Winter ride em and one was a grass drag sled. Whoever told you 120+ stock is dreaming. If you run 112-114 mph you got a quick one. Swap the gear out in the chaincase and you’ll pick up top end but the clutching on a Mach z is set up to run 110. 120+ I’ve never seen it!
there is something wrong with that motor and or clutches stock it should be nipping at 110 maby 120 if its properly tuned up with the factory track and 97 pipes/ignition (99 they dialed them back to keep them from melting down)
That sled should easily do 110miles per hr i had one did 110 and more. Whats the secondary set at? Drop that to position 1 and you will see 110+ miles per hr
I’ve got a 2002 mxz x 800 with 1530 original km. All factory, just the studded track. I toss it around the yard for about an hour for the season. I wonder how it would do.
Lots of comments about how fast people’s personal old sleds are. However how many people have verified their speed with an ACTUAL radar gun? I bet very little.
Wtf.lol. Mach 1. P700’s do 108-110 all day on a radar gun and ive never seen any Mach Z do under 115 on a radar gun including the 780’s. Usually 118 or so. but what do I know, I don’t have a tv show.
Throw as much at it as you want, you still aren't going to drop the XCR or the Tcat from the top wrung of the ladder. And both of them were just stock sleds.
@@wasupfool5692 Agree. The Tcat was king of the lake for years. The XCR and Mach Z are not slouches. Thet just didn't have the extra cc's. All were good sleds. Just pick your favorite!
Man my 600 sdi it’s 100 easy would take this in a race if your gonna claim it can only get 101 but you definitely need to be open on the throttle the whole run
The speedo was right around 105-7 indicated so not that much different. There was a lot going on at the end of the track for the transition from ice to deep snow, with no brakes! I felt it prudent to look ahead then down at the gauges.
101mph for a skidoo triple is child's play. If it was studded and gripping properly. They run 110mph alday. 118.6 my 1999 mach1 did every weekend. And crazy part is I got 30,000km on that engine on amsoil dominator. Pull sled home drag racing. Doubling drag racing to see if we could wheelie across lakes. And it did it for 16yrs until a gas line broke to the middle cyclender leaning out. And ultimately it blew bottom end middle cyclendar
And I speaking quarter mile not 5km down the lake . 118.6 raven lake quarter mile. The sled 1999 mach 1 I've seen over 200kph a few times on proper speed condtitons
You should be tucking under the cowel and that helmet isnt helping you any with the sharp duck bill catching all the air coming at you bot to mention i seen you sand bagging on that throttle there you silly goose
