Over 3 years ago, I was playing guitar on a street corner in downtown St. Petersburg, FL, when this guy walked by. I hollered at him: "Hey, do you know you look like Frank Gambale?" He replied: "Yes, because I am Frank Gambale!" And we stood on that corner and talked guitar for a spell. He as in town for a local gig (Chick lives in Clearwater, a few miles away) and decided to visit the Dali Museum. I actually met him years before at gig in Atlanta. So going way back to '70 or '71 or so, I remember a skinny kid named Lenny White. I must confess I've since strayed from fusion somewhat to explore the many other genres of jazz & it's extensions. Here, I can only see long shots, profiles and 1 full facial of the drummer, approx. 8 minutes in. Can anyone tell me definitively is it a heavier Lenny on my little phone screen or is it Steve Gadd, whom I've heard more than studied photos of. I'd also appreciate more info on this very good guitarist. Would like to hear more of him. Di Meola was extraordinary. RIP Armando Anthony Corea. RTF forever!

One of the few pieces where the bass is the reason for the song. Or something like that. You know what I mean. I used to go to every concert Clarke, Ponty and Corea did in the late 70s, in Los Angeles. Even in small venues like the Roxy. Hmmm. This version is the best I've ever heard. That violin really adds so much. Having two unusual rock instruments improvising against each other (bass and violin) is really quite unique. Whoa, this thing really gets going. Fantastic. I can only wonder how these guys get on each other's nerves sometimes (it happens with all humans). "Oh, there Chick goes with his whole tone scale thing..."
