Utilizing reusable rocket technology not only facilitates resource conservation but also plays a pivotal role in mitigating the accumulation of space debris.
Interesting topic. When successful, this would mark a monumental leap in space exploration, as it would not only drastically reduce the cost of space travel but also pave the way for a more sustainable and accessible future beyond our planet.
Great video. I'm a sucker for watching those rockets land, it just never gets old. I know in the original space race, the real benefit to humanity was not the actual landing, but all of the technologies and problems solved during the development of the rocket program. Do you think that with the race to large scale reusable rockets we will see a similar dissemination of technology to other areas? Can you think of any examples that have already made that leap, maybe some of the high-tech materials designed for use in rocket engines?
Very interesting video! Great transitions and thoughtful, well-timed commentary. Definitely a growing market with a lot of potential for investment that will only trend upward as time rolls on and the idea becomes more accepted in the mainstream.
To me, space tourism still falls within the realm of sci-fi. Don't get me wrong: I mean that it's so novel and exciting, that there is unlimited potential to impress. I think that this very mindset is what will sell people on the idea. When you're a tourist in a country, you follow assumptions such as 'the Eiffel Tower is in France, and I'm going to visit it because it must be there.' There are no such assumptions in space. Anybody could discover anything, and that's reason enough to be excited. However, tourism, a major market incentive for reusable rockets, is only viable once it becomes incredibly easy and safe to launch private rockets. Flight paths and infrastructure must be established in orbit and on extraplanetary bodies to accomplish this. Therefore, my money is on the use of reusable rockets in advancements to space exploration rather than tourism. Less expenditure means more launches and greater capacity to construct outside of the realm of our planet. Cool stuff!
