I used to have an alpine pwe s8 in my Mazda 3, it was nice, but I wanted a bit more, so I got a skar sdr 10 and an rp 1200d, eventually blew up the sdr 10 and switched it for an evl 10 which I'm still breaking in

So like I'm looking to run one realible 8 or 10. Kinda just some budget thump is my goal should I be looking at kicker? I heard if you do a sealed box that's bigger you can over power the subwoofer more is that just a myth?

The new 10" Kicker powered hideaway is a great a option at about 400 watts rms with a built-in amplifier: hi-techcaraudio.com/kicker-51ptrtp10/ And that second statement is semi-true. If your box is too big relative to the sub, it can push the sub to reach its mechanical limits and ultimately causing damage.

How does the 12” alpine compare to a 12” w6 in the Ho box? I have the JL and enjoy it but I heard people have been switching from a w6 to the alpine. Not sure if that’s true or why they would.

I wouldn't say to 'switch'. Honestly, the W6 is still my top 3 FAVORITE. With that said, The 12" Alpine Type R Halo's are SUPER impressive. I can't get over how loud their shallow are, too. It's a tough pick.

I'd say a Kicker Solo X or Sundown X-12. Nothing is as smooth as the W7... but these subs are fantastic for the price.

Not everyone wants to spend $1500 on just the sub. Hell, I've put together entire setups including headunit wiring amps speakers and subs for that amount. They sounded damn good too.

Why not? It does depend on which 12s they are ... but most customers complain the Type R shallow is more bass than they wanted. Plus, anyone's free to come into our store and listen for themselves!

If you hear our demo - or any of our customer installs with this sub - you'll be shocked at the output... to the point where you're left scratching your head. Are they comparable to 2 12" W6's or Sundown X12's? No. But a pair of 12" Kicker Comp's or JL Audio W1s? Absolutely.

They all are shit!! They all bottom out, just like your factory sub. 2 12's my ass, I'll put the cheapest maxxsonic or epsilon 12in sub against anyone you've named. Don't believe the hype. Evan a top of the line Lexus, with a mark Levinson system, bottom out pass mid volume. People, SPACE MAKES BASS!!!
