I remember the album coming out like it was yesterday and yesterday was 34-35 years ago haha, cry,cry,cry,. Anyhow on to my comments, great review and build. I've never had this kit either Chris and I am glad to see it out again. Appreciate the tips on the future floor finish as I have had some problems with my applications and my inexperience with using it but I'm learning thanks to these tips. Thanks again. Jeff
Thank YOU Jeff, I appreciate the nice words, always. Glad you can enjoy it and have a nice time. I use a big brush, about an inch across, not stiff, to apply it. Just dip in the bottle, wipe on the car and let it settle out all on its own. No heating, no drying, no wiping over and over after application. It will settle itself out. Also, do not shake the bottle, it creates tiny bubbles. Let it dry all the way after you apply then apply another coat as/if needed.

There was a second car built for touring, shows, and videos, using an Anderson Industries fiberglass body. The owner,Dave Anderson, is a friend of mine. I was at the shop when the body was assembled. The fiberglass car has hidden door hinges, and steel car has stock hinges. Cool kit.
I put this one together 3 or 4 years ago and it was...well you know, a piece of crap. But, Your version is killer Chris. Nicely done! I also had problems finding pictures of the interior and engine. But I think you nailed it. Thanks for sharing...And by the way don't change a thing...you do it just right...
Thanks Mike! What a tool that guy was huh? Come one someone else's channel, plugs for their friend, leaves a thumbs down and tells you that you suck and their friend rules. How immature. I removed that guy's comment. It's not needed here. I have never and will never criticize another model channel nor will I thumbs down anything that someone else makes. Childish antics by grown men that know better. But I guess now I know what channel is sending their viewers to do a thumbs down on all my reviews. Lame children.
I should have used some styrene strip to fill in the trunk seams, as those are noticeable, but since I didn't have any in the shop I built it as is, box stock to show everyone how it can come out as is.
Nice to see they added seat decals but those Michelin TRX tyres should have been pensioned off decades ago. About time they tooled up something new to replace them - ideally a tyre with decent tread and no big mold line down the centre.
Great review. I had one in the 80s, but my skill level wasn't great and I couldn't get a good smooth gloss finish. Always wanted to get another but could not find one. I didn't know they had re-released the kit... but I think it may only have been available in the US. I haven't seen it listed in the UK.
Really nice kit and great channel! I've been a fan of both zz top and modeling for years. I wish someone would release the Eliminator shuttle from the video Rough Boy. Make for an interesting kit bash project.
I have a stupid question here. What do you mean by heating the model? Do you use an actual heat gun or can a hair dryer work? I have never heard of this before and I am very curious.

I'm doubting Revell made any changes to the molds, same car as it was way back then. The trunk lid is separate but there is zero detail inside, not even a tub, it's just open to the chassis.

Skill level 4??? Must be a misprint. Old kit there.. not that hard to build..Built that version back in 86. The real car had a Chevy engine I believe . The kits engine is actually a pontiac. A carry over from it's 70s monogram origins .
You can BUT you must use a primer first. Then you can use auto paint without issues. Automotive paint will melt the bare plastic if it's too strong of a paint.
