Thank you so much for the help! You saved me from having to buy a whole new set. Uniden offers NO tech support for cordless phones. I tried to follow book instructions for clearing and re-registering the handset......who knew that only the answering machine base is the "base." Thanks soooooo much!
The 1660 has a few nice features which the 1560 don't have, but I think the 1580 is a much more solid phone. I've had the 1580 (same as the 1560 but with an answering machine) for years now and its still going strong. I have an older Uniden back from 1997, still going to this day with the original battery at that!
I have a Uniden 1588-2 . I have tried to program a third hand set by deactivating it and programming it the way Uniden says. I also tried to program it the way you showed and no luck.
Hi, thanks for this informative video! I only see DECT 6.0 on my Uniden phone, but after watching this, it looks like mine is actually a 1660 model. I came to you because I was LOST trying to find out, how do I turn this phone ringer back on? I have held the #Silent down but it takes me to setting the time and date, and when I put that in, I get stuck on how to change AM to PM and the setting that in. Needless to say, I am depending on your advise. Btw, I use magic jack as well, it saves a LOT!!
purchased a 3 hand set radio shack phone. when it came only one of the 3 hand sets will work. 2 of them wont go past the connecting mode. i noticed inside battery compartment that the phone that does work is a cat 43-325 and the 2 that dont work are cat 43-327.....im assuming that means they belong to a different base. i tried to unregister and then re register but the phones wont come out of "connecting mode.even when pulling the battery and reinstalling .....any ideas ?
How do i deactivated privacy mode on the 1660? I moved and ever since everyone that calls me even myself calls show up private or unknown. It doesn't show who is calling me anymore :( also i activated my voicemail but people cant leave me messages. Idk whats wrong with it.

I have a uniden Dect 1560 that i had for maybe 5 years and it was working fine until i unplugged the battery to replace it, and when i plugged in the new battery it would not charge. I have cleaned the post on the charger and the phone and nothing, Ive let it sit on the charger for days and nothing. I have replaced the the battery before in those 5 years and didn't have a problem. Do you know what might be wrong ? Thank You for any help. Ricardo. P.S. the battery that i unplugged was charging before.
Just because the new battery look's the same, & even fit's! Does "not" mean you have the right battery! This may be your problem?? I worked in the phone, photo & camera area of a big retail chain store, this kinda thing would happen all the time! That's why I think you have to buy most of these kind of batteries online! Soooo what you need is your phones " make & model # " google this and "replacement battery". This will get you the "correct battery"! If you happen to find one in the store, you will need the same info, turn package over, look on the back of the battery package, this should give you a list of all phones and model #s of those phones this battery will work with. Again just because they may look the same and also fit, does NOT mean it will work! Good luck on your search. Oh P.S. if you buy the battery online you will save a ton of money too! In stores they run $14.00 & Up Online about $3.00 & Up
When answering the Uniden D1780 telephone.I am unable to hear the caller from one of my headsets. The phone has no sound. I cant even hear a dial tone. The caller,however, can hear me on the other end. What may be the issue? This one headset does have the lights, info etc. on the display when viewing, just no sound. Thank you

I picked up the 1550 with 9 hand sets LOL - cost me 15.00 at a garage sale, i don't know how long those folks used them but I have been using them since 2008 with nettalk duo. non wifi. the price of nettalk duo went up this last year so that renewing costs you about 50 bones a year. but i found a trick to get it back cheaper to around 29.00 or less. a year. these phones work great, nettalk duo works awesome as long as you have a great connection i have 20 up and 40 down mg service and I pay 35 bucks a month for that. I do not have any other phone and I don't pay for any cable bills or sat bills. just the net. saves me tons of dough. if my 1550 gets low ( very rare since I hate talking on the phone ) I just grab a different hand set and hang the other one up to re charge. I have NEVER BOUGHT BATTERIES. seriously. the 1550 has a ring change thing. you can even make it ring Christmas songs if you like. LOL also, nettalk duo has a much cooler online managment. the service kind of sucks for any viop service but after you know what's up, you can do just about everything yourself. nettalk duo has 3 way calling, has Call waiting, and if the unit is disconnected ( like your net went down or something) you will get a message on your computer, directly to your email. My nettalk duo sounds exactly like my old land line. i hear no difference. i think its because I have a 40 meg connection cause some people say there phone sucks. I can walk clear out to the mail box here and still be talking on the phone. If there was a way for me to do this free , id probably have to try that. but from my experience , for the money, nettalk duo and uniden 1550 is a perfect match. :O)
+Leisure suit Larry I assume you mean the Uniden 1560. BTW, magicJack is a better value than Nettalk. Nettalk is capped at a lower amount of minutes, and with magicJack, you can get the service at $19.95/yr when you renew with 5 years.
I don't have a cap on minutes and when i tried Magic jack it echoed nearly all the time, the very few times it did not it still would sound as if the conversation was taking place inside a giant coffee can, but those were the good times. nettalk works just exactly as my old land line, with the exception of I have to dial the area code for any number even local. and I can't seem to win a radio contest now, I think that is because my calls are routed through a server and it takes longer to get through. I have call waiting, 3 way calling, voice message on my phone and if for some reason my units down I have a Nettalk message service that sends a recorded message to the email I assigned as my Nettalk email. clear as a bell. also, i have never had a dropped call.
+Leisure suit Larry magicJack also offers the features you mentioned at the end. Was your experience based on the old chrome USB magicJack or the modern day magicJacks that plug into your router?
oh yup, ya got me there.. it was the first generation Magic jack, I made the switch long ago to Nettalk. i actually still had a cable modem then as well, i save even more now that I ditched that and went with a 40 mb down 20 up set up @ 38.00 and change a month. pisses me off that its not still 33.48 like it was but thats a whole diff story. still cant beat the price. also made me mad when I went to renew my nettalk duo and they wanted 50.00 because of new charges and tax and whatever they could dream up, I was on chat with them about that and I asked why after being loyal to this Voip system fro this long do I have to pay more than a new member? They had no answer for that. I know why though, they want me to pay for their promos so they get more customers. There is a work around for that though and thats what I did, I just get a new unit with the 1st year included. I have to change my number every year but that turns out to be cool for me as well. I get to lose the trash. LOL
One problem with uniden the three phone feature under the last three button aren't protected from were the vtech c6417 is better made all feturs are protected under plastic keys and grate sound better back light color
I have had the Uniden DECT 6.0 1660 cordless phones (Master & 2), for less than a year, and they are not holding a charge, and suddenly just "go blank" as you are talking. To replace the batteries are almost as expensive as what I paid!

I have a Uniden Vtech Ds6722-3 which has the envelope on the 1 key. Does anyone know how to check the voice mai? I tried pushing the #1 key ,the call button and it doesn't work .Tried pushing the call button, then the #1 key and nothing.
Could you tell me how to block calls with the left phone? My great great grandparents have been getting scammed for a year by someone who keeps calling, claiming they are going to give them money. And they are just so old, they believe hes a genuine friend. Anyways, these people keep finding ways to call, we just need a ringtone or something so they cant hear the phone go off.
something went wrong with the phone. I can't hear anyone on the phone. I can hear the dial tone. Everyone can hear me, but I can't hear them. How can I remedy this? Also, as soon as I changed the battery on the phone, the other phones won't work.
I have the 1660 and it gives me nothing but trouble. I am right in the middle of a conversation and it just dies. Now I've had it for about 10 years, should I change the battery do you think?

I have a uniden dect 6.0 and my screen says "check tel line" and my phone service is fine. I still have Internet service ( my uniden & wifi modem is both connected to 1 jack).

The 1660 is junk... it drops calls like there's no tomorrow. The 1560s are great phones. Mine are still running great (I got a second 1560 handset about a year or two ago)
You have to program your phone with your phone service's VM number (for example, with magicJack, it's your phone number). This can be done in the setup menu by pressing the MENU button on the phone.
