I assemble these in Ohio. We make 500 accords per shift on line 2. We only make about 60 manuals every other day. Hopefully people keep buying them.
@aoescool

swr Nismo dam every shift.. that's insane. But what's even more insane id's so littlemanuals.. it's going to be rare like the 6 speed accord coupes.. I'm keeping my 2012 6x6 for a couple of years.. maybe forever

they will and would buy even more if the higher trims had them or if Honda reintroduces the accord coupe, because it is a better fit there.

Save the manuals!
@AkioWasRight
@AkioWasRight 6 лет назад
Then buy the manuals. Manufacturers are at the point of bending over backwards to offer them. They won't last much longer with car enthusiast's youtube cries alone.
@harrismi7
@harrismi7 6 лет назад
My current car is a manual, a 2016 MX5 and two cars before I had a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that was also a manual. I took a hit on the 2015 Volvo that I had in between them to get rid of that automatic car, I hated driving it.
@Tigerex966
@Tigerex966 6 лет назад
they cant because they are not available in the trims people want, only the lowed in most cases, with a few exceptions, well almost none, if available at all. We want to but cannot, it was a self fulfilling prophecy, people are not buying them they would say right after they eliminated it in the model they were buying same with coupes. Honda sold 20,000 -40,000 or so accord coupes each year, and that is only 10% of accord sales but still quite good, that was considered a non seller by Honda account so they just discontinued it and say, nobody was buying it, as if 20,000-40,000 is no body.
@Lamar-zx5tp
@Lamar-zx5tp 6 лет назад
Bah, you keep talking about them, but people aren't buying them. You'd think everyone on RU-vid drives and buys manual transmission, but barely anyone buys them in reality. It's just like station wagons, diesel passenger cars and EVs. The share of the market that is loved by the youtube puffers is very tiny.
@Tigerex966
@Tigerex966 6 лет назад
Which ones are bending over backwards? I can only think of two and the Hondas usually sell pretty well. I think only Mazda and Honda are offering them in their midsize sedans, after their coupes were discontinued. And there are no midsize fwd family sedan derived coupes to be found that I know of, so it's 4 doors are an suv or crossover and an automatic. I think Honda would not have so many accords on the lot, if you could get other trims in manual, (say 5%) and of course the coupe that sold between 10-20% of the total. What's really hurting Honda is a large number of people will not touch a CVT, no matter how good with a ten foot pole, and many of them dont want a manual either, so they keep their old Honda or shop elsewhere, and there is plenty of good competition with good automatics. I guess offerring them in the one , usually the, lowest trim level is bending over backwards? It's like they are saying, take the worst and be happy you got anything mentality, and dont complain, shut up, or we will take that one away also. But I am glad Honda makes really good manuals, at a really good price and at least have one trim with it that is available for us who love them, and mazda too. Mazda needs to move the manual trim level up a notch or two and add it to the 2,5 liter ASAP, they could easily become the best driving and sportiest midsize sedan with the new 2.5 turbo and a great 6 or 7 speed manual, rev matching, handbrake, upgraded suspension and exhaust note. Until than Accord reigns supreme among manual fwd midsized/large sedans. Zoom Zoom.

Good on Honda for not only offering manuals in their vehicles, but offering GOOD manuals. They could easily just throw a lousy stick in there and enthusiasts would just be glad that it's available at all. The fact that they put time into engineering them even though they know the take rate will be low is admirable, and shows they care about their vehicles. Looks like this new accord is a quality product, if only we could get a new S2K :)

Bought one last fall for wifey in pearl white. Very good car so far. Ac on in 75% city 25% hwy and we are getting 32mpg. The reason the car feels peppy and gets good mileage is because it’s lighter than a E36 M3. Kind of blew my mind when I realized it was 3100 lbs and the size of a proper tank. 🤔

The Accord has always been an above average handling car and it's performance, even with smaller then average engine size has always been great. I had an 01 Accord coupe (which my son now has) that even by today's standards handles really well. I have noticed that Honda manual transmission cars perform a LOT better then any of their cars with their automatic transmissions and especially better then the horrible CVT. I am always amazed at the performance of these small turbo charged engines. The only thing I'd like to see is how well they hold up if one intends to drive them 150K - 200K miles. Most cars will make it to around 50 - 75K, but I'd like to see one with 150K on it and see how much service was required to get it there. My old Accord has over 170K on it now and is still running great. It has had no engine problems and very few problems in other areas. Everything still works, from the cruise control to the sun roof.

This car is a sleeper on handling. I thought I was crazy at first for feeling this way, but 12:35 - 14:45 marks my sentiments exactly. Matt seems to be the only reviewer who acknowledges and highlights the handling of the 1.5T. I'm not an expert by any means, but the handling of my wife's 1.5T Accord Sport feels better than my previous 8th & 9th gen Si, and my current 23 Integra 6sp... and this is with the stock Goodyear tires. For me personally, the accord is much more upscale, comfortable, and I found myself smiling more in the accord sport. I liked the refinement and losing the boy-racer look of the Si. Needless to say, I went with the accord, talking them down to what I would have paid for the civic Si out the door. Just my two cents.

Michael Andrew, for me the manual transmission is all important so I would not even look at the Mazda 6 since it is limited to the slow, poorly equipped base model only. The Civic Si is too over styled especially in the rear with those fake plastic vents so I’m waiting to see the 2019 refreshed version later this year and the all new Mazda 3. Lastly the VW GTI is at the top of my list, especially now that VW offers the best in the business 6 year 72000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. As for the Accord, 2.0T Turbo Sport all the way. It’s better equipped with satellite radio, sunroof and more, still with a manual option and fast as hell, just the total package.

Did you just call my Mazda6 a "Dad car" as it's a 4 door, Midsize? Seriously though great review and so happy they are making this Accord with the manual in both engine choices. When I bought my 2017.5 M6 Touring (manual) back in December, these weren't out just yet in manual and wanted to avoid 1st year model issues anyway, but looks to be an awesome choice. Mine did come with heated seats and rear vents though with Leatherette, but no SAT either or even lane keep assist or auto cruise feature, but no biggie for me as I too, just like to drive.. Also no AA or ACP (firmware update in '18?), but Nav was included to offset. Deals were and are to be had on the M6 as well.

I wished that you were able to do a full review on the 2.0T version instead of 1.5T. This way it would be a better comparison to the new Camry XSE if your going to do a review on that and comparing both vehicles.

Like your videos Matt, just a suggestion to drop the "really" word whisker used constantly IMHO. Keep pounding out great reviews!

How the 1.5T gets better=93+ octane and a simple K&N air filter. The 1.5T in my new CRV loves it. Very noticeable difference. It will actually spin all 4 wheels when not full of passengers. The 1.5T may be quite down on power vs. the 2.0T but the 1.5T does get much better gas mileage. Both the 1.5T and 2.0T actually gulp down gasoline a lot faster than most would think at first around town. That being said there is not much out there that is better than these new turbo Honda plants right now! Fully properly plumbed from the factory turbo Honda's? More please!

Boost gauge is on the right of the digital! You’ll see a turbine logo and a bar on the right side showing boost levels at 4:01

That was a clip from the 2.0T Touring Quick Drive video I did in the fall, I used that clip to show what the boost gauge looks like that the Sport model is missing.

This car looks better in person than in every video I have seen, I don't know what it is, I was a hater before I checked it at the dealer, now I don't love it but I respect it.

well done--i am excited, but i still love my 2008 exl-running strong at 152k--5 sp auto. however at 4500 bucks cheaper than the 2.0 turbo, this makes a lot more sense---they are not readily available in central texas according to true car--probably can get one, but then you have to engage dealers who will not leave you alone-- a nightmare experience when you're not quite ready to buy.....

Matt, you can stream satellite radio with a phone app and a subscription so you don't even need it in the car's head unit. Also no sunroof? Thx for the video.

I did hear you gush quite a bit during this review...has the Bullitt been cancelled? Just joking. Thanks for the great review of what is obviously a great car with V-TEC, really. We've been spoiled with all the content available is cars today. Think back 5 years ago at the content, no rear view camera, or Honda sensing for sure, maybe even crank windows? This IS more of a purist car no doubt. Back in 2013, people would have been blown away by this sled.

impressive fuel economy. Honda never disappoint me. I own a civic and CR-V. They always get above what the EPA estimates and I don't even try.

I got the 2.0T in manual. It handles sooo well, and yes, is a blast to drive. So maybe the Sport trim has better suspension??

Matt, did you notice any rev hang while driving the Accord? I’ve been looking at getting back into a manual, but I’ve heard of a lot of rev hang issues with a variety ( of brands) of late model manuals and it’s off- putting.

Have to go EX-L or higher to get satellite radio, at least on the 1.5T and hybrid models. Not sure if 2.0T sport has it, but would imagine not since its features are based on the EX trim level.
