I review the refreshed 2019 Chevrolet Camaro in its RS V6 1LT trim with the 1LE package. Thanks to Shyam (@wcdetailcenter on IG) for letting me review his car! The 6th gen Camaros have always been great handling cars, and the SS 1LE was even better. Now, Chevy has applied the 1LE package to the lighter V6 and 4 cylinder Camaros, making them some of the best handling Camaros yet. This V6 version has a great sound thanks to the dual-mode exhaust, and I'm glad that Chevy has kept around the V6 version. What do you think of the Camaro V6 1LE?

Finally a decent review of the V6, which is underrated. Many won't admit it but 335 HP is quite enough for most people unless you race your Camaro regularly.

Back in 2016 I purchased a 2lt RS v6 Dual Mode Exhaust Camaro with 6-speed manual and you are right on the money with this review. It is a joy to drive on the straight or curved road. It is lighter, quicker, and has more horsepower(335 > 325) than my 1964 GTO had back in the day. And the sweet exhaust sound encourages you to put the pedal to the metal while you are wrapped up in a responsive, comfortable, modern environment. The interior is quiet, devoid of rattles and squeaks and the sound system is very good. All this with a naturally aspirated, direct injected, v6 that will run on regular gas and can easily get twice the gas mileage as my old muscle car. Voice commands can control the hands-free info system, phone, and radio and the grandkids love connecting to the built-in wifi hotspot with their I-Pads. I get the same look on my face as you do Matt when I run through the gears. I agree that the v6 is the sweet spot in this Camaro lineup.

Because the V6 is built better than the V8 as well. Just like Dodge, Chevy put the same parts on the v6 as the V8 and they V8 pushes too much torque for alot of the parts on them. Work in the automotive industry enough and you'll find that the same parts like engine mounts and pulleys are all the same from the 4cyl to the V8. You can push a v6 and not ever worry about breaking it. Where a V8 you need to not only be careful, but know that Everytime you hit the gas, you're throwing fuel out the exhaust. Get a V6 and throw on a supercharger . You now have more power, reliability, affordability, and fun as a V8

The V6's were on hold at the Chevy dealers at start of Nov 2019 due to some emissions thing. When that is lifted it would be well worth getting one for around $25k brand new. I'd get the new 10 speed auto, base model, lowest trim, it'd do for me. There are great savings to be had on servicing costs in comparison to a V8 Camaro. It is half as much for a 6000ml service and 2/3rd as much for a 12000ml service. So for high mileage drivers some big savings, the car insurance would no doubt be cheaper as well. And of cause it'd be much cheaper in the first place. Anything can kick off in the Arab Oil world, Oil could go up to $100 a barrel, in which case the better mpg of a V6 would make it more desirable, especially with the trade in value, if traded in at the time of high Oil prices, in comparison to the V8. The Chevy V6 Camaro should be good enough for anyone, if purchased new cheaply, one of the best bang for buck muscle type cars in the US you can get. Were I able I would get one. I'd sooner have a C8 Corvette but settle for a V6 Camaro any day of the week. Especially for around $25k. State what you will pay, have the finances to hand, the dealer would be daft not to take your money, they can get hold of almost as many as they can sell, if they hold out for a set amount of profit and want to load it up with Nitrogen filled tyres etc, just walk away.

Lol true but that car in the review was mine and bought it for 28k out of the door in 2019. I think it's well worth it with the fe3 suspension components and the extra cooling mods. I tracked this car just stock with some gripier wheels and it took all the abuse with no overheating or any other issues. Also had my warranty intact so 🤷‍♂️. I had the bigger screen and the bose audio system and better wheels than the RS IMO.

I really like the overall look of this car with the black hood, white body and new grill. It sounds outstanding for a V6. But overall I think this should have been offered as purely an appearance option. The problem is the market for manuals is very small now and the people who buy manuals also tend to think 8 cylinders are mandatory as well. It was a nice gesture by Chevy to offer the 1LE in the turbo 4 and V6 but I don't think it was a smart business decision on their part.

GM should update the gauge cluster and include the leather-wrapped knee pads from the 2LT/2SS on ALL Camaro models. And while I like the steering wheel, the trim piece on the bottom of the steering wheel should be upgraded from plastic to Galvano.

I believe the V6 1LE has the FE3 pkg with this model which includes the Magnetic shocks and limited slip differential just like the Cadillac ATS with Performance/Premium pkg But I could be wrong because maybe it is an available option with the 1LE. I have the Caddy Performance Premium and it is loaded with the Mag shocks, limited slip, heads up display, brembo brakes, ect.
@shyamsundarrajasekaran5275
@shyamsundarrajasekaran5275 2 года назад
It’s got the fe3 suspension components and brembos but not the magnetic dampers. The HUD can be had in higher variants. This one is a base 1LT with the 1LE package.

I bought a v6 1le for the track and it doesn't disappoint. With a track alignment and some better brake fluid you're ready to go. The OEM tires are same as on the SS so you can get takeoff sets for next to nothing and ferodo pads are excellent and will outstop the stock tires. I let my videos do the talking.

For spirited road use, would you go with the V6 1LE or the LT1 based purely on fun to drive? How is the 1LE for long distance cruising? Is the ride punishing?
@R8ze
@R8ze 3 года назад
@@nk1506 if you just want a cruiser, go with an LT, but get the dual mode exhaust, and if you like to row your gears the manual is decent. If you are leaning toward a 1LE test drive first, I love mine, taking it to Atlanta Motorsports Park in October

@@R8ze Thanks JT. I am looking for an agile car that is fun to toss around a bit on country roads in the northeast -- that is to say, twisty, sometimes well-surfaced, sometimes frost-heaved roads -- like the back road Matt is testing on in the video. Balanced handling is more of an interest than brute power, but also a reasonable level of comfort on the decrepit interstates with broken expansion joints and crudely patched potholes that are endemic here. I am unlikely to track it. Would this be a good way to go, or would I be better with a GTi, for instance?

Which makes the better enthusiast's car: the V6 1LE or the LT1? The price of the two versions is similar, at least before discounts, but I imagine the driver feel is very different. How does the better balanced but less powerful 1LE with its chassis tuning, staggered summer tire setup, etc. compare to the 6.2L thumper with its symmetrical all-seasons? Which would you choose?
