Minimalism is really what sells this hub. After i watched this, and a few other reviews i ended up buying this hub, and buttons with out a wheels or paddles. I only use one button box with a wooden NRG wheel for drifting, and driving around. For that i think this hub was a big winner.
Thank you for this review. I used this material to evaluate this steering wheel and I finally decided to buy it. Nice tutorial allowed me to quickly assembled the wheel and I am very grateful for that! I was looking for versatile wheel, something without flashy LED display and without too many buttons (minimalistic).
just got mine in! I decided on this for the versatility between gt and formula cars, so it was nice to be validated(as this is my first wheel and sim rig). Hope I don't miss the easy access tuning menu. I think I will eventually get a similar quality round rim for rally and drift, but that's way down the line.
Love this wheel, use it together with the endurance module which came later. Bought it before the 911 R came out so the endurance module was more of an upgrade the me.
Nice video Will. I sold my Porsche wheel because it is sluggish and slow to turn. You did have the solution in your hands there, but never assembled it. The perfect Sports wheel is the R300, advance module, single magnetic shifters and 300mm rim. Test it if you can and do review. It works fantastic. Keep up your great work mate 👍
What is the advantage of the podium hub over the universal hub? You can still use the advanced paddle module with the universal hub and you'd get more buttons as a bonus.
I just checked mine and indeed it is about 5mm off. I honestly didn’t even notice when I was going though the review process and test driving, etc. I wonder how that happened.
@@boostedmedia all of the photos online from both customers and fanatec show that its off-center but no one ever raises it as an issue. Im fuming that i paid for a wheel thats made wrong
Regarding the Carbon thickness for the APM. I Bought the Advanced podium module last week (Fanatec EU) and still received them in 2mm, so if someone wants them in 3, do not buy them (yet).
I would say the Momo wheel is laser etched, and the Fanatec is probably silkscreened. Since the brushed aluminium isnt visible thru the Fanatec logo. 🙂
@@boostedmedia i don't know why it's so underrated....for less than 300€ you get a perfectly sized, perfectly stitched quality alcantara rim, with lots of buttons, display, rev lights and two rumble motors inside....i would not change mine for anything....btw thnx for the advice when i was buying it
I have a question mate. What is the weight difference between the BMW wheel and the new Porsche wheel with the button box? I always found the BMW a little too heavy.
Hey Will, love the review. I really want to purchase the Clubsport Wheel GT Alcantara (with the yellow stitching) but the shifter module seems better on this setup. Is there a good way to get the better shift module with the GT Alcantara wheel?

I have a big issue with the Podium hub I use a third party wheel on my other podium hub I have and when I need to change from pc mode on my dd1 to v2.5 compatibility mode I have to take off my podium hub with my third party wheel on and then put a fanatec wheel on to change the mode which is pain as I like swapping between sims a lot Why they can't just make it possible to do this in fanalab somewhere of the driver package I don't know really they should of been a button actually on the Podium hub to do this it's quite frankly absolutely ridiculous in my opinion
Just put together my Porsche 911 GT3 R wheel and this helped a lot, thanks! For the Podium Hub, is the storage pin meant to be in the hole and then through the notch in the QR or off to the side? Mine shipped off to the side so it was in the hole but then crooked like "/" across the QR.
I assembled my Podium R300 bundle for my DD2 but only the wheelbase is dectected by the base and fanalabs and not my paddle shifters or the button pack. How do I get the 2 to be usable?
Could I use this hub on my VRS base? I would like to use my Fanatec wheels with my VRS pro base, wounding if this hub would work for that purpose. Thank you
Hey bud, im not sure if you can help me. Im trying to play forza i bought the podium hub and i have the clubsport V2.5 and the steering wheel is recognized but i have zero in game input. I did turn on all the settings in the fanlab with no luck, wondering if you can help. Thank you so much
Ya I only have the csl elite base which I’m pretty sure still isn’t compatible... I’ve heard about a beta driver for it that you need to email some specific person on a forum for it but I’m not dealing with that lol.
Just built/installed this exact set up onto my pc for assetto corsa and the paddles and clusters are not in anyway being picked up. Its like the pc is not recognising them. But the wheel is working..!????? Any help would be appriciated.
Im actually thinking about buying the r300 rim to add to my suede porsche gt3. Same as you, I thought I preferred alcantara and suede, bit after using it I want normal leather and getting the 300mm gevis me all the versatility. I hope I can buy the formula 2020 LE leather grips for my podium f1 wheel for ps4 (although it probably will never happen)
Since you randomly also have a 2series. I swapped my 17m2 steering wheel with the led mperf one. Did you say you used your actual 2series steering wheel for a sim rig? I would love to take my old wheel and use it for a sim rig.
I had to use different size washers as the ones fanatec supplied was like half a mm under sized so I was still getting flex because the wheel was not sitting flat also the buttons flex around too much for my liking at a wheel this price
Will, my friend has this rim on a dd1. He tells me there's no funky switch or anything that let's him get to a menu. He can't change anything on the fly he has to go out of the sim to make changes ?
So what the poor people that got the early 2mm thick set just get trucked over by a company selling stuff for top prices when it's still in testing fase or still getting upgraded as they go .. a top company like this should be only supplying stuff once its quality tested
I have this wheel it's really nice but should have a few more buttons in my personal opinion especially for the price Edit See you said exactly same as what I said above before I even watched the video so we both come to the same conclusion I got robbed basically
I hate how this works, i though i can buy just the base and they use some kind of adapter to use any aftermarket wheel but no you need to get stupid hub for another almost 200 eur just so the base works. you might get a base for 350 but add some essencial stuff and you are almost in for 1000eur. Madness
Pay the extra and get the button module or just get the 911 GT wheel The button clusters are crap I’ve broken 3 of them so far and not buying anymore Over time the back of the clusters crack and when you push the buttons you end up pushing the buttons through the plastic housing on the back Awful build quality
