Review Bunk Trailer Glides for Easy Pontoon Launching 

Could've backed a little further and just drove the boat off the trailer in reverse.

A lot of comments here about backing further, powering boat off, etc. I live where I have my choice of ramps and some are like this one and some not. The ramp where he is putting over has a very shallow grade and it is a long boat. If he backs up further, he could get the truck on a slippery ramp and launch the truck as well as the boat. He probably can't use the engine to pull it off; the ramp is just too shallow. Look out far it drops at the end. The bunks are not even in the water. The plastic slides or something similar are probably the only solution for this ramp, or a trailer where the boat sits lower. I would recommend as others have mentioned, keeping an eye on the bolts; if they back out or if one of the slides tears out, it may gouge the pontoon.

I just came cross your video after i installed mine today. It helped me a lot. Loaded like it was supposed too. I motor on and off my trailer too.

I put rollers on my 20 ft and they work very well. Just have to be careful when backing down the ramp. I just put a rope on the front and installed an eye bolt on the winch stand

Thanks! Just lowered my trailer by putting the axle on top of the leaf. No I'm going to slap these on the bunks so launching and loading should be SO much easier!!! THANKS!!@

My 2×4 bunks came lined with a pvc type hard plastic. It definitely makes a difference

Try backing in a little more and using the engine.

i always hose down the bunks before going to the ramp, make it slide off easier. Not sure why you cant use motor , unless the water is too shallow at the ramp.

I would think your engine in rev has more power than you pushing.

Tie the boat off to the dock and just when you get it deep enough tap the breaks. You just raised your boat on the trailer making your boat higher in the water. Lower your bunk brackets to where your boat sits lower on the frame. Or with a longer winch strap run the strap to the rear of the trailers cross member through a roller and back to your bow and winch the boat off the trailer.

I had similar plastic on my aluminum jet boat. I used to drive on drive off. Then one day I noticed when I look at the bottom of my boat I had these severe gouges. The screws had backed off and we're digging into the bottom of my boat! That was it for me. I took it all off back the carpet. A pontoon boat is much lighter aluminum then my jet boat. Be careful

Just curious but it looks like the launch is to shallow or the dock to short in length. Having quite a bit of boating experience, I can't remember not backing in the water till the tailpipe of my truck was in the water. Hopefully the glides work for you. 😊

Make shure you put down the outboard deep enough so water is going to the pump, start the engin and just back up ,keep a close eye on bottom floor, dont bust your back.

Just what I need for my 20 foot sailboat. The bottom paint does not slide at all on the bunk carpet even when wet. I have to back in very deep to get it to float on or off

I watched this with the sound muted and they made launching a boat more difficult than it needed to be!!!

You can get an inexpensive, used center lift (or scissor lift) trailer and launch your boat in just a few inches of water. I had a bunk for 4 years and finally boat a center lift - best investment made for my boat! I don't even get my feet in the water when I launch!

Not being a smartbutt but why don’t you get in the boat and power it off the trailer? I take my Tritoon out all by myself so I don’t have the luxury of help and yet I’m still RockStar of the dock and faster than most two-man crews! Maybe I need to make a video?

I think the biggest problem is the set up for pontoon and tritune trailers. The hull of a fiberglass boat is down below the bunks. The pontoons sit on top of the bunks. You need to get in deep to get those boats off the trailers. If you use the pontoon trailers that hold the boat up from the bottom of the deck, launching is no problem.

Make sure the screws are all the way in. If they are not, they may scratch and damage the aluminum pontoon logs.

What about something like Gatorback bunk covers? There’s others also.

I TORE the carpet off, then put them on. it will get you an 1/8 inch deeper in the water ( carpet thickness )

How did it do pulling it down the road? I’d be concerned the boat would bounce and slip off if you hit a bump on the ride home

I have 10 X 6 small rim/tire on a 24 ft trailer/boat...not normal trailer wheels, it lowers the trailer in the water so boat floats off without pushing...back down and tap the brake and boat floats off!

im just asuming its a rule at ur lake of no driving on or off the trailer but the simplest way to get a boat off the trailer is use the engine it will pull the boat off easy also because u have a tritoon with the mid toon just hanging there it puts a bit more weight on the outer toons making it harder to get off the trailer so u may wanny look into getting a set of bunks or rollers for the midtoon it will probably help alot

We backed in a little faster then hit breaks and it slid off then powered it back on it was easy

We are about to buy a 24ft Tahoe.....is there a reason why you did not/can not use the motor to pull you off the trailer? I do like this product and it looks like it helps a great deal, but we always used the motor to pull our boats off the trailer...especially on ramps that were not very steep.

Push it off with truck, then hit your brakes a little harder than usual. BAM!

Looking at where your truck is you could back up another 8ft at least.

Why you so scared to back your truck into the water ? Seems a little silly…. I’ll go till I almost get water in the cab and on some occasions where I have.

It's the ramp. Too shallow. Not in enough water. The front of your boat shouldn't drop off the trailer like that. Try a different ramp bud.

After watching all of the video, you needed to back it more in the lake. smh

Absolutely worst launching I've ever seen for a pontoon. My wife sits at the driver seat while I back the boat down into the water, boat floats off and she drives it out into water, I go park, she picks me up at the dock. In and out super fast.

If only the boat would float 🙄. Boating 101 back up until your boat starts floating. I understand your trying to sell something nobody needs.......
