I wished Fanatec would have had two wheels on offer for their intro into WRC license : one being this one (which, as you mentioned is really very close to the P1 as an affordable option), and another more premium ‘Clubsport’ version maybe with better materials, rotary dials etc. But OMG that $AUS price is grand larceny! 😫 I guess I’ll keep using my BMW GT2 wheel for now.
Preordered this along with the CSL DD, seems like they will be a good pairing. I wasn't prepared to dumb 400 dollars plus on a wheel along with the DD base and their stupid 8 NM power supply, which i also purchased because capitalism is ok with me. Wanted that extra 3 NM, will make a big difference from the T300 i am currently using. At least i hope so lol. Great video btw man, as always.
I'm in a similar situation, I'm in Wave 2 which looks like its speeding up :) Question, curious, if this will have a low torque mode on it with CDL DD 8Nm? I'm ready to order, but not sure if I should wait for the new RS? And instead, buy the GT3 now, although I want to do Rally most of all.
@@SlevinRus csl dd is a much better wheel base. I've owned two thustmaster tx (both got bricked, due to tm poor reliability) and a Logitech g923, now I'm with the csl dd and even considering it is more expensive the ffb and detail it transmit it's something I've never experienced on the other wheels.
And removable paddles, and a different button layout, and a different D-Pad, and different shifters, an Alcantara instead of rubber... Yeah, could have been named "Elite P1 V2" maybe, but what would be the difference?
@@MrBlingclean would be more like from a G27 to a G29, but I get your point. Anyway, it's maybe not a big upgrade for existing users, but what about newcomers? With the original P1 and Elite P1 discontinued, makes sense to have a refresh of them with some improvements.
I pre ordered the P1 Black Friday wheel for racing sims where I'll need a round wheel (rally, drifting) I almost bought the WRC wheel back when I originally pre ordered the CSL DD and McLaren wheel, glad I waited. Got the P1 for $100. Hope it's close to this wheel or at least decent enough, great review.
Thanks for the review mate. I am in the process of planning my first sim. I am going to go with the DD1 wheel base and was tossing up whether to go with the WRC wheel of the BMW. I would never have known about the low torque issue. Can you tell me if Fanatec have Black Friday sales?
I modded my p1 a couple of years ago to use the metal quick release. Funny that someone was 3D printing the mod for a couple of years and selling over Facebook and only now they catchup.
I have f1 PS4 wheel the Gran Turismo wheel. So I was looking for a Xbox all around wheel. You just made me my decision easy with this video. The price, the Alcantara and the 300 diameters sounds good to me. Great video.
Huh, all your tidbits really sold this as my first wheel for my newly scored 2.5 base. Moving from an old GT3 porsche thing and this is going to be ridiculously smooth as a transition. I do use buttons for tapping the handbrake in hairpins in DR2.0 and in VR the wheel could be pink for that matter. Plastic on top and the tire threads look a bit tacky in particular, though. The universal hub and rim can wait until the post-pandemic-ex-girlfriend-dumping-her-ex's-stuff-for-cheap-online wave comes in.
Hi Will! Unfortunately my throttle for the g29 gets stuck at about 25% very frequently so my consistency is non existent. I get frustrated quickly and have stopped playing with the wheel for a month or two. I've been looking at upgrading to fanatec gear. Thanks for making this video!
It is a potentiometer pedal set, therefore they are prone to dust artifacting, all you need to do is blow away the dust from within the potentiometer or even better, if you can, use the contact cleaner spray and after that seal the hole on the potentiometer with a piece of tape.
ordered this during the BF sale in regards to the handbreak point, I was also thinking of using the B button on the wheel..either that, or if Id manage to map my arcade stick to the handbreak that might work too x)
It looks like a good choice if you're buying/have a non-DD wheelbase. My personal preference would be a larger (320mm - 330mm) leather-wrapped wheel. Anyone have a source for DIY wireless button boxes? Before this came out I was thinking about getting a Momo wheel and adding just the buttons I want for Rally driving - I'll probably stick with that plan if I can find info on connecting buttons through the hub or via Bluetooth/wifi - It's probably out there on the web someplace.
good review however I don’t agree regarding quick release, I just upgraded to the aluminium one and it is a huge improvement comparing to plastic quick release, wrc wheel feels super smooth now and I don’t get that annoying clicking sound anymore
Wow I didnt know about the wheel not letting you use high mode on the DD1?? I thought I asked them that before i ordered and they said this wheel will work fine with it. What are you limited to with this wheel. I just ordered a DD1 with this wheel. Mainly because it was one of the only ones showing in stock without going top tier. The DD1 goes up to 20 with the key in if I recall. Whats the limit with this wheel. Maybe i need to swap it out
I ordered full fanatec setup with this wheel and actually returning it as i really dont like how it crackles when i grip it its very annoying figured i spent already like $1300 mind as well put in the extra 200 and ordered the 918 porsche wheel with all metal construction hope its much better.
Great review. I have a P1 on my CSL Elite and also use the B button as the handbrake, always seemed the most obvious choice. Wouldn’t mind being able to put this new quick release on my P1, wonder if that will be an option later on!?
@@will1926 this has far as i can tell is better than the nascar wheel in every way i think; more buttons, cheaper, joystick thing, paddle shifters come stock with no extra cost
So, I don't understand, can I enable full power with my DD1 with plugged in torque key and this steering wheel or it just limited to low torque mode and I can do nothing? Please help!
Hey how you all doing, fan and subscriber to your channel. I have just recently purchased the GT DD PRO wheel combo but I have an Xbox and so I also purchased the CSL WRX wheel so I can use the base. You stated in this video that there is a certain screw or button needed on the wheel hub to let the base use full torque but that the WRX does not have this. So then does that also carry over to the CSL DD base? Meaning did I buy a boost kit 180 only to make it in active because of the wheel I chose? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The biggest problem with the snap dome paddles is that they wear down after only a couple months. I noticed it first on the up shifter then a few months after, the downshifter... now one year later, both paddles have no feel/click to them what so ever. They're completely linear

Thanks for the video, Decisions time, this or McLaren GT3 wheel? I can only afford one wheel and although I mostly play F1 games and ACC, I also wouldn't mind giving Dirt Rally 2.0 and upcoming new Forza game a go.
Nice video man the shifters look mad im not sure if you knew but in the wrc rally series all there cars are paddle shift wich is mad for people only buying the wheel for that rally series saves them buying gear sticks and that

I hope you can help me with this questions. I bought WCR steering wheel and the Elite CLS base for playstation .But the buttons on the Wheel are for xbox . I have had the wheel for over a week now and I can't even use it I am so frustrated because I cannot find nobody to help me Can I get anybody from fanatec Tech Support to help just keep getting the run around hopefully you can help me. The best budget wheel ! Butt that "tread" graphics really is tacky! Fanatec deserves huge praise for bringing an unheard of "affordable" price for entry DD base...like Xbox Series S...AS a CSR Forza Elite racer, the $350 DD is a bargain never thought possible!
Okay I am on the fence between buying the BMW replica rim from fanatic and the GT rim with lime green accent the BMW has two vibrating Motors. the GT wheel does not do the two vibrating Motors make that much of a difference to not purchase the GT style Rim which I actually really want. Putting it on a dd1
Great review, not sure how many people will be using this on a DD base though? I bought it together with a clubsport setup (pedals, base, shifter) as I prefer the look, the button layout and the quick release design to the clubsport wheels. Glad to hear the shifters are good too :) Hopefully UPS will pull themselves together and get this delivered to me soon ;)
@@mainlycarthings3430 Still the same. Got my Email for warehouse processing on the 17th for the CSL DD. V3's were the first step on the upgrade from T300 and T3PA pro's. Can't wait to get my hands on a direct drive wheel now. I never thought I'd be able to afford one before the CSL.
For mine its just a P1, the glass fiber quick release ,well, depending on the rating, ive seen many a glass fiber cordless drill crack and fail. I think it will fit a small market of people who play more arcade style wrc games (anything sim related where you need button mapping this wont do). The problem i see is with the price point,,, if i had a csl elite (which i do) or a clubsport base and was in the market for a new round rim, for only $150 more i could have the BMW. For what it is, it looks very nice, but my v2 could be gold and diamond plated and i still wouldnt notice it while in a race.
Can you put the carbon paddles from the podium advanced paddle module onto the wheel? (for clarity, not the magnetic shifting part, but the bigger carbon paddles on instead of the orange paddles)
24:00 this is why i still not buy a Fanatec wheel. I hate this kind of flex, and my good old T300 Ferrari Alcantara is so stable compared to this... This is sad, because i really like my CSL Elite Loadcell pedals, but this flex is a deal breaker for me...
