The Big.Trail 600 from Merida is a trail-ready 29” hardtail that’s impressively capable and nicely specced. It comes with a few neat touches and a ride that’ll please both new and experienced riders alike, but it doesn’t quite offer the bang for buck its competition does.

Great review! You've made it perfectly clear. I will add one not significant nuance on the rims, they have a tape for tubeless installation, which is very good, but the rims have a straight edge, without hookiness. An interesting point is that on the official website there is no 600 model in purple, in this color there is a 400th

The frame sure is strong! I’ve destroyed two back wheels on the Danny harts road gap and the frame only has a few scratches 😂

It's definitely the same frame and colour! The 600 will just come with upgraded components.

I got stuck between Merida Big Trail 600 and Voodoo Bizango Carbon Pro. Both are in the same price range.

As much as I like the Voodoo, my own money would go on the Merida mostly because it comes with a dropper post as standard.

Thanks! It depends if you want more agility or stability, go L if you want something a little more whippable and easier to corner, XL if you want more confidence.

@@offroadcc you make a very interesting point regarding sizing - i would like an M at 178cm 31 inch inseam but you said XL! I ride a Medium trek rail and love it so feel like a whippy hardtail would go well while the shorter reach would add comfort for winding back up trails!

I watched another review and the rider said his feet were hitting the chainstay when pedalling, did you have any similar issues while pedalling? Is this an issue with the wide chianstay?

Hi. On many bikes my heels tend to rub the chainstay but never hit in an obstructive manner. I found that to be exactly the case on the Big.Trail

👌nice rig, I'm just over 6ft, but with that 450mm seat tube, would i need to size up?

Hi Steve, that purple right? That's entirely up to you. The new XXL size comes with a 470mm seat tube so it's a case of whether or not you could fit over it and feel you would benefit from the longer (500mm) reach. At 5'10", I was very happy with the XL.

@@offroadcc merida makes some nice rigs, at the moment the reach on my XL vitus is 472mm definitely wouldn't want it longer than that, 500mm reach🤔would be too stretched out for me, i had to size up because the large vitus was only 450mm and felt cramped.

Hi, XL is the largest you can get at the moment. I usually ride a large though and I thought the XL fit my riding style better.

You did a great job reviewing it. Thanks. But in my humble opinion the frame is waaay to big for you. Your arms are so stretched when you're sitting in the seat. I can't imagine how you could ever move further rearwards.

Cheers! You're definitely half right. However, longer bikes tend to suit my riding style much better but these bikes come with a 50mm stem and personally, I wouldn't mind it being a bit shorter.

Got it, its a belter pretty much the same other than the forks, you get rockshock recon, their ok but i ended up buying the z2s. The 500s a better colour aswell its black

Dieses Fahrrad wurde im Jahr 2021 getestet und seitdem haben sich die Farboptionen geändert. Allerdings kann der Big.Trail 600 in dieser Farbe gekauft werden.

With a bike you don’t want to mess with the geometry of the bike too much as it has been designed for the intended fork but you are able to do up to 20mm more travel or 20mm less I would recommend going with more travel creating a slacker head tube angle

We've not yet tested the 2022 Trek Roscoe so we can't comment just yet. We'll see what we can do about getting one in for test though!

Hi Jeremy, cheers for the comment! It is a noticeably stiff frame through all conditions but not any more so than a variety of alloy frames.

wtf. 1.i nearly fall asleep during the vid 2. how csn you call shimanos 400 brake "plenty of power " 3. the video is edited with movie maker by a 8yo or what 4. all bikes you review are the same lively, composed agil and stabil..... all opposites so idk if you really ride &test or just review the company that pays the most so maybe give your videos some livelyness you find in the bikes ,add yome good shots and a bit of music, until then the "like and subscribe" are 5 wasted seconds in every vid , bye i'm off to pinkebike or freehub and all other QUALITY bike magazines
