Please folks - remember to open a door or window before opening the roof. You need air to come into the cabin. For the heating - use “Heat Immediately” and it will stay on until you switch it off, I suspect you were using program mode which will run for a user-defined period, 30 minutes is default and I think 60 minutes the max.

Hi Martin, we just spent a long weekend with a VW California Ocean the first time. We also wanted to try it and we will go on vacation with it too for two weeks. I ordered a self inflating mattress to sleep better downstairs. Nice that I found your video here.

The heater is auto set to ventilation mode. You need to change it to aux heater (diesel heater)

Sorry, I never understood this outdoor shower thing. Admitted and not allowed to stay in a remote area where you can undress completely (and only in summer, of course), do you think you can freely dump soap and water on the ground? For me it is definitely illegal ...

Honestly not sure what’s up with the shower comments 🤣 being the most popular here. To clarify and set expectations back in place: 1. This was a rental 2. this car has no shower 3. I I never said I missed or needed a shower (in fact we swam in a lake to clean off). To continue the conversation: 4. Vans / RVs that have showers do not dump it on the ground they have a waste water tank and they empty it out in proper places (this is in theory as we know humans and humanity - it gets dumped all over regardless) 5. This is why you have to go into camps to get showers or use their waste disposal hook ups 6. Let’s not all pretend to suddenly be all ecological environmentalists lol when the world is having bigger problems starting with carbon emissions ! Not even the city or house you live in disposes waste properly lol but that’s for another convo.

The VW Grand California has a bathroom and shower built in it. Not this one :)

@@MartinTatar Yes! If you don't change to a larger model, the toilet will be a problem for the current model.
