*I love it! **Fastly.Cool** and Warming environment perfectly controlled. Being able to track history temp and humidity takes all the guesswork out of the equation. Had it for two weeks now and it has been flawless!*

My electric cost this year have been avg about $30-40/month higher than last year, probably the higher KWH rate by the electric company, the scortching summer hasn't helped. But I installed this last month and my energy cost is nearly the same as last year. It has reduced my energy bill by about 15-20% just in one month its already paid for about 1/3 of it the cost of it, deff happy I bought it.

I wish someone would address some of the controversies with the Google Nest Gen 3 Learning 1) The 'heat link' going out bricking it.... I've seen this said many times online- one person commenting that its 'inevitable' 2) claims that the thermostat has a mind of its own, and like Hal starts deciding what temperature you want instead of just letting you set the temperature. Even racking up bills while you're away on vacation, or cooking you while you sleep (so-to-speak). Some have said this is very frustrating, it never stays at what you set it. 3) report that pets learn to walk in front of the thermostat to kick it on, which pretty much negates the Away savings 4) the disdain for Google Nests in the HVAC community, some of them calling them "Google Pests". One said the device could damage your furnace board, and another said the first thing he says when there's a furnace problem is to swap out the Nest with a plain thermostat and see if it goes away. 5) Also there are concerns Google could update the software and render it unworkable, stop supporting or mess it up. I'm not here to trash Google Nest.... its because I like the interface and device a lot, as well as its features and want to buy one- I am just struggling with these unknowns its a lot of money to put down. What is heresay, what is fact and what is fixable. There are lots of reviews online but none seem to address any of this. Just start looking on Google or Reddit for complaints, or go to an HVAC board and ask and you'll see what I mean. I like the product, I'm detered by the online gab about it.

I so agree with you on all the above!

Can you override any of the "smart" settings. For instance the built in sensor you talked about to see if someone is in the room. Can you turn that on/off? Can you just set a "HOLD AT" option that overrides it all? I ask because I have a Geothermal HVAC system and Geothermal is designed to work better without a lot of changes. In the winter my radiant floor heat keeps our house fine at 68 degrees. We never set it over 70 in the winter.
@RagnarBlox
@RagnarBlox Год назад
@Mr nippy nelson Actually all I want to do is be able to control it remotely. I don't need it learning my "habits" or any of those features. I ended up buying an Emerson Sensi smart touch. It gives me what I need. WiFi control.

Why Does My Air Coediting Kick-In If I Only Want The Fan To Run? I Tried To Just Use The Fan But It Even Gave Me Cool Air. I've Got The Google Nest Learning Thermostat. Thanks

Need to adjust when the furnace comes on. Right now, it waits for decline by a degree F or more (can't tell exactly when via the display, since it shows rounded figures). Our previous basic thermostat would *start the furnace when temperature dipped to a half degree F of the target, and would raise the temp to half degree above the target* . That worked for us marvelously!! Now, we're left shivering... so how to adjust the Nest to behave like we need it to -- that is, like the not-so-high-tech but very practical thermostat was really good at doing?
@billmellater
@billmellater 2 года назад
Your shivering over 1°? Imagine 100 years ago where 1° triggered you to put a log on the fire 🔥🤣 Anyway, it's the swing adjustment. my low level smart thermostat has that adjustment. Can't imagine the nest doesn't have that adjustment also.

@@billmellater We're out with the Nest. The temperature difference between the lower end when the Nest comes on, to the higher end when the Nest goes off, I've recorded (using an Inkbird) as high as 6.7F which is too much variance and uncomfortable. I've recorded such variance with a few target temperatures, (both with and then without the Auto-scheduling enabled).
@billmellater
@billmellater 2 года назад
@@rswow"Your out with the nest"? I'm assuming that means you're no longer using it, not that went out to dinner with it😉. Almost 7°? Yeah I'd call that uncomfortable/unacceptable. I haven't seen a thermostat with that much swing adjustment. Most I've seen is 3 (1½+-). I'm also NOT an HVAC guy so, grain of 🧂, that's my 2🪙,....

@@billmellater out with: "an exhortation to expel or dismiss (an unwanted person or thing)." (Oxford Dictionary). We were really happy with our trusty Noma thermostat. You could set F in half degree increments. Furnace would start at half degree off target, and stop at half degree past target. Perfect! Nest is being taken down in a couple days here, Thankfully. Hoping the Noma will work as before. The Nest was installed by Simply Smart Home as part of a promotion for a free doorbell. I spent several nights and some days in monitoring the thing & making many notes & temperature readings; the process diverted me from other critical work.. It would take me another few hours to compile my notes into a readable script & review, though I did send Simply a succinct summary.

I'm very disappointed with this system! When it's really hot, and I've been away, once I turn the "AC" on, it takes forever to cool the house (2+ hours). Am I doing something wrong? Please help!!!

This thermostat is trash!!! I have replaced this device 6 times through Google as it keeps saying wifi connection lost and it will not show any wifi networks. No matter what you do, it will never work you have to call and get another one sent in and they are aware of the issue, but still don't give you more of a warranty. Then they send you refurbished items that only last about 2 to 3 weeks
