Beautiful bike. I personally like the root beer colour but I doubt I would buy it in that colour...the matte black with red accents is just stunning!

Way easier when riding two up. DCT stops and starts off just like your car. No need to adjust to the brake and throttle and friction zone. Its much more steady when taking off or coming to a stop because its fully engaged. I was super surprised at how much easier it is.

I love manual transmissions, but I would get the DCT. Been riding for 45 years and I never thought I would say that. I have an 03 and would like to jump up to one of these.

I traded my 2016 africa twin on a 2020 africa twin and got DCT this time and it's F&%king awesome! I heard there is a CB1000R coming with DCT if it's true i'll be the first customer 100%.

I bought a 2019 non tour DCT, really enjoy it. Put a Corbin heated seat, klock works screen, and a HogWorkz Harley tour pack on the back. It’s a bike I want to keep riding every time I head out.

if you like how smooth it shifts wait until you ride the DCT! the audio is poor the speakers sound like they're cheap entry level speakers i will be upgrading mine soon.

The reason the car went in front of you was because when you where talking about the front end reminding you of the Springer, you threw your arm in the air like a wave, which the car took as you wanting them to go first as maybe you had some kind of problem. So not really the idiot you thought they where :p .. Random waving above head height at traffic lights .. best to keep your hands on the bars when talking to camera .. Moving on i hated the colour but my misses loves it. Cheers

flipper man. I’ve been riding for fifty years and yesterday, I experienced a first. I did an unusually large but usually expected “motorcycle wave” to an unknown fellow biker and the women in the car following the bike thought I was waving her to make a left right in front of me. Luckily we all doing parking-lot speeds so whoopty-do we made it through. Made me wonder though if anyone’s ever lost a leg (or worse) doing the biker wave . . .

When compared to the 2017 GL, the saddlebags are about 1/2 the size!! I would not consider the "pretty decent"

G'day, I love your videos. Could you please do a comparison between the Goldwing and the Roadmaster? I've riden a 111 Roadmaster and I'm torn between the style, sound, comfort and handling of the Roadmaster and what appears to be more responsive available power for overtaking that the Goldwing appears to have in your video given your reaction when you give it a few herbs! Would you say the 116 Roadmaster engine power/torque is as responsive as the Goldwing? Also which bike would be better in the twisties? I'd love to hear your opinion. Thanks for your channel

Would enjoy some comments on low speed maneuvering with the dct. Given the lack of clutch and friction zone maneuvering, I’m somewhat curious.

Which begs the question, how much does it cost to access, clean - perhaps replace - the air filter? Mr. Google suggests around $200 to access and replace - is that near correct?

Well if thee are brave you can get it done one your own. Just make sure you have zip lock bags, sharpie, pictures, tools. Yes more intense than it needs to be, but the average person keeps a bike for like 2000 miles these days it feels so it will have 5 owners before it's ever needed.

How does it handle wind. Current bike ways 400 lbs and can get tossed around a bit

It handles the wind rather well. In Oklahoma we know wind very well. So we are well adjusted for it as we can have just days when 30 mph is the order of the day with 50 or more gusts with nothing driving it like a storm or something. To me this bike slices into the wind and handles the side blasts really well. This day's winds were in the lower 20s and to me it was nothing.

How does the smoothness of the engine and gearbox compare with your CB1100? Is it about the same, better or not quite so good? Nice review BTW

Update for others maybe interested in a 6sp. Got my bike last week, 2021model. Gearbox is terrific, smooth, quiet, nice ratios, love it. Fuelling is the best I have ridden for years. Hedgehog has done an excellent vlog here. Before anyone says I have had DCT, it’s great but I did not want it. No regrets the 6sp is lovely.

Gymkhana with bolt is much better, lower fuel consumption, easier to ride in a city, lower insurance cost. Take care about your oil change, this goldwing will be my bike in 2035, the new motorcycle are too expensive.

Not compared to the old one my friend. Yes this one is indeed loaded, but it does not have the literal telephone pad of buttons, plus the console buttons, plus the handlebars, just console and handlebars.

My Honda fit car has a smaller engine, 1.5 liter, with about the same power.

Although the power might be the same from a smaller 4 cyl engine the car weighs 2648 lbs or so so you have 20.4 ish lbs of vehicle per HP. This Golding weighs in at 787Lbs and has 125 Ponies making it 6.3 lbs of vehicle for every pony to pull. Meaning the power to weight ratios are much more insane. Although the fit can probably seriously fit a GoldWing if you try and angle it in there right, seriously props to the Fit as being one of the most versatile vehicles on the market, this thing is just tons of fun.

@@RabidHedgehog Yeah the goldwing would be a lot faster! The Fit is a bit cheaper with higher compression and a vtec double overhead cam engine that has slightly better power from a 20% smaller engine.

All in the tuning, I’m sure you could easily pep up the flat 6 with a cam change, but that would take away the prodigious low rpm torque!

Honda screwed up with the size of panniers and gas tank size. You would think that by now they will understand the American riders and needs ???!!!! Other than that, super machine. I saw a guy at a gas station with a 15 year old wing. The motor sounded like it came off the showroom. Very impressive bike company. They never fail with the quality and reliability.

Not everyone has had a chance to look and the bike is the same as the 2020 units so there is plenty of time.

@ I agree,, I can never get a real answer when I ask any dealer why you would reduce the size of the gas tank and luggage for a bike that is supposed to be the premier long distance cross-country motorcycle? I believe the designer probably has never ridden a motorcycle, especially on a long trip ! When going across the desert or the Yukon with NO cell service , believe me you want as much gas as you can get !

The dealers where I live cannot keep the DCT versions in stock ever, the only left over bikes are manuals. Only the old guys whine about the new version period. I have a sport tourer and one of these is definitely going in my garage. The K1600B has major transmissions issues, my BMW dealer has a mechanic just dedicated to fixing them now.

You have no idea what you are missing forgoing the DCT and like you’ve said in many of your reviews “you can’t review and really know a bike in a short rest ride” Here’s a link to video I did on the DCT versus Manual transmission conversation. Well in this case the last Wing I rode was the 5 speed version. So I wanted to get to the 6 speed version first. I will be trying the DCT later, but I wanted manual first. But I have seen the DCT in use during a "Ready to Ride" course to brush up on skills and such, and the actions it was doing in slow speeds and such did concern me. The bike seemed to lug and jerk around under very slow maneuvers and balancing. Part was he was new to the game of DCT and new to the bike as well, so I am not sure if it was user or mechanical. So for me it was safer to go clutch on a machine I do not own because I do not want to do anything to drop a 20K bike. These people are good to me, but they are also an Indian Dealer not the Honda one, so they would not be 100% on the GoldWing DCT either. I'll get a Honda dealer to work with me when it is time.

Moto da viaggio che sul misto puó sorprendere" "tenuta di strada eccezzionale" con due zeta rende di piú (recensioni) ma ci vuole attenzione le molte difese elettroniche la stazza illudono "sicurezza" ma una piccola incertezza e boom.Ne ho incontrata una la distanziavo poi rallentavo ed era subito quasi dietro(non voleva capire) così per 20 km .. alcuni con goldwing (che non trovano "pace e bene")vogliono per forza dimostrare che è agile ma al minimo errore ....zero recupero! Grande moto "stabilità che illude" ma fidatevi quanti basta. Ha tutto forse troppo e se cadi meglio comprarla nuova ..... .Nel 2020 è stata alleggerita e molti esagerano è vero è incollata per terra motore potente sospensioni da auto ed elettronica al top ma prendeteci la mano ed evitate di competere con le naked potenti e le supersportive se trovate il manico vi striscia e vi struscia e rischia di meno.

Every since the new old wings came out I have seen maybe a handful of them. It’s no surprise they aren’t catching on like the older old wings did. With people trading in and selling barely used 2018+ old wings it becomes more and more apparent that even fans of the brand and model can’t get over it’s insufficiencies. I’ve seen this thing compared to cars by motorcycle journalists. I mean how boring is a motorcycle when a car can be comparatively more freeing😂🤣. At least the older old wing was great for passengers, had plenty of storage space and plenty of wind and weather protection. This new old wing isn’t sporty enough to appeal to the go fast crowd and with a smaller fuel tank, less storage and less passenger accommodations isn’t that appealing to the long distance touring rider either.

The absence of GL1800's are more related to reduction in production due to Covid that popularity. Go to your local dealer and see if they have any available. Here in Canada they have very few and there is a waiting list, particularly if you're looking for a DCT. I don't know what insufficiencies you are speaking of but, every single review I've seen has nothing but positive things to say about the bike. Perhaps is the size of the bags? This is a Gold Wing, quiet, reliable, and cool. The Gen 6 adds better handling and takes away weight. I don't have bike religion like so many do, but this is an awesome bike that will run forever.

Only the automatic DCT version has the 7th gear. The manual version is a six.

The 5 gallon Gas Tank is way too small. Dumb Side Loading Small Saddle Bags, should be Larger and Top Loading like Harleys. Sounds like a moped.

Rabid Hedgehog , I’ve had 2 Hondas, great bikes, and older Goldwings were ok, but this bike is as ugly as they come. Seems like new cars and bikes are “designed” by wind tunnel figures and esthetics has been thrown out the window.

One UGLY bike. They have ruined the Goldwing. And automatic shifting.......really. Completely takes the fun out of riding. I have owned 3 wings. Currently have an 08 GL 1800 Military Tribute Bike. The redesign is way too sporty and not the cruiser it is supposed to be

Well you can still get blue and red and white and other colors. This happened to be what the dealer had. But it's not automatic it is a slick 6 speed and can still be obtained in such a configuration if you want to continue with the wing line. But as stated, yes, it moved closer to sport touring than it was before.

The problem with the old design was that it was EXTREMELY long in the tooth and too fat and they still had brand new units in the box in 2019. The new Wing is far and away a better handling, more comfortable and overall superior ride.
