Review: PS Vita Grips with L2/R2 Buttons 

Dope review, very honest. I also have both 1000 and 2000 versions of these grips with the l3/r3 attachments, however my 2000 came with a hinge like the 1000 but it only clips the top into the case, not a full face plate. Either way they work wonders and keep my systems safe for cheap, and with the extra attachments, you're right you lose some sleekness but overall feels like a more complete experience. Great video, again.

I own the vita and until I found your channel I thought it's old, useless thing in my drawer. Now I hacked it for the retro gaming (thanks for your videos) and started to play again. Unfortunately, my charger stopped working (it was inevitable, because the cable was for more than 5 years working only thanks to the duct tape) I bought new and I have to wait for it to come. I'm just watching the your videos to spend that time.

I got both of these and they surprised me as to how comfortable they are. The clamshell one took a bit of gentle force to snap shut though because of the screen protector. I've had it on for about 2 years with no issues. I got each one for $20 or less off of Amazon.

Broke my hinges within a week. I just glued it in permanently :)

I have the 2000 and have the same case you show in the video. I love the case it just makes the vita fit so much better in my hand. Similar to the 3DS, which I have a grip for. I can play these systems much more comfortably after getting the grips. I really like the fact that you can use the L2 and R2 buttons as you mention. The best part of the 2000 version is you can still access the L3 and R3 on the back.

I have the 1000 Vita and I have this case. Love it as it also adds additional grips on the side for general ergonomics when playing the game. I use it more for that ergonomics instead of for the L2 and R2 at this point lol

It's really cool to see people still talking and making content about the vita. I use the hori grip with four triggers. It almost never comes off my console.

The Hori device looks promising, but I like the way that the JEC grips still give you access to the rear touch pad for games that use it. If you so wanted to, you could use it as a permanent upgrade.

With PS Vita Homebrew growing and the sense that more are utilizing their vitas, is there an updated recommendation for grips/accessories for 2023? Would love to make my Vita ergonomically friendly with my big hands 🤲

Awesome video. I love handhalds but never played PS4/5 on my Vita seriously. Maybe tried it once or twice for kicks but it never looks good, and was never comfortable. Will definitely consider trying this!

I really prefer the "sandwich" tipe of case, I've seen a few reviews of the slim model case you're showing and people are getting them scratched on the sides pretty easily. Be very gentle with it when removing and placing it if you don't want to mess the paint.

I prefer not having L3R3 because some games that require the rear touch. Also once you homebrew, you can adjust all the functionality. Also, I have the 1000 case and a glass screen protector. It does fit tight, and collect dust. Those small tabs broke near the charge port for me. I would have preferred those clips were wider. I will probably seek out a 3D printer if I need to replace it.

I got ps vita PCH 1003 with this black case with extra L3 & R3 button,it's great, much better play options with that grip/case.

I'm a bit slow lol how does this add the buttons exactly? does the case like touch the touch pad when you pull the trigger?

I know this is an older video but you can buy an L3 R3 adapter on Amazon that fits in the open space of these cases so you can have L2 R2 L3 R3 buttons now.

i have this for about a year now. it's okay, i like the grip but i hate the triggers and how the front covers most of the vita. so i trimmed the front so just the edges remain and now i like how they look. it still holds the vita in place pretty snug.

Am I correct in thinking that Sony changed the remote play shoulder buttons from the back touch pad to the front and you can't turn them back? I'm sure last time I did remote play I had to use the front screen for L2 and R2

5:55 vita has been optimized to run some games differently your L3 R3 should be bottom corners of the actual screen in most fighting games L2 R2 are top corners of screen while L3 R3 is bottom. Its really comfortable and more responsive than the back touchpad. Remote play is great

My hinges broke so i used black tape at the side and works great best accessory for the ps vita ever

I bought one of these but for some reason the L2/R2 triggers didn’t work. And the games I tried definitely had the L2 and R2 mapped to the back, so I’m not sure why it wasn’t working

I have the psvita 1000 but I prefer the other white grip, I guess you cant use it other than on the 2000 model ?

The 2000 grip is pretty nice... If u never take it off, I took it on and off like once and one of the tabs broke off

Just got a Vita Slim today. I've yet to jailbreak the system and buy a sd2vita adapter and microsd. But I wanted to try to get used to the system and try things out. Like remoteplay. I tried it with Gravel and was surprised the throttle and brake were on the front. Works for the throttle, but not the brake, as I need that thumb to steer my car. Any way to remap those buttons to the back? I don't want to remap in the game itself, as I otherwise have to constantly adjust them if switching systems. Didn't know games prevented you from adjusting it. Know I'm glad I didn't buy someone's Vita (Slim) with the HORI grip. He was expecting 300€ for it (with adapter and SD 256, but no (official) games).

One of the reasons why you are experiencing the delay is because you are playing the game on remote play

Why would the 1000 version need a front plate? It does seem like a deal breaker to me because I've had issues pressing the Cross button since it's so close to the right analog (granted so far this has only bothered me in retro games) or the Select and Start buttons since they're already really low on the device.

I have a question on the 2000 vita case. Has that case scratched up your vita at all?

Hello retro corps do you know if a screen protector will fit under that l1 l2 case ?

I can't get the bumpers to work on mine. In fact the back touch pad doesn't work. Think there's a setting to enable/disable it, but I can't find it.

I got some from Amazon for my ps vita 2000 they are the exact same ones in this video they are only $25 got them in 2 days. You can also buy the l3/r3 attachment for $15 bit it take a month to get them

I connect the duel shock 4 and get the plug in for it crazy it works with the remote play perfectly it does not do the ps vita custom controls some game the button layout changes and it suck once the ds4 connect it works well the trigger and L3 work like intended.. why sony dident support it is beyond me ?

You can also try to look for the matching case for those grips.

Unfortunately the Hori grip is mad expensive in comparison too the others but luckily i found one for just €50

The 1000 case looks like it mimicked the ps3 controller with L2 R2 but its responsiveness is of a sticky ps2 controller im glad i have a 2000 model

I got 6 colored sealed vita slims and the hori grip for it sealed. Only play on the black version of the vita slim.

How do you get so good performance for remote play? I have vita slim, 250/50 internet speed, my ps4 connected with cable directly to router and i tried with direct connection and over the internet but i still get poor performance in form of pixelated picture and ocasional framerate drop. Can you please give some tips and tricks? :)

Perfect example that first isn't always best - JEC released/created the original L2/R2 grip (which you have here) and Hori just did a better job in the same concept. You can kind of tell with the prices unfortunately!

There is also additional L3, R3 piece that can be attached to the lower part of touchpad on back. It's available on AliExpress. Never used it though so I can't comment on how good it is.

I used it for two years and it didn't break, it is of good quality. Unfortunately last week I let it fall from my hands and now the hinge is broken. Don't worry, it can hold the vita well without the hinge. No need to buy another one.

Lets see.. So if I get that installed on my Vita, it's going to be a 360g system (rounded up, obviously). I'm struggling with the original battery, and according to my AmpMeter, it's only charging 1356 mAh out of the default 2210 - that's 61% of battery life left on it after hundreds and hundreds of gameplay hours and after all this time. So I'd also have to go for a battery replacement, maybe 4000 mAh this time, which will probably add maybe 50g more to the weight of an already heavy system. If I got things right, with that grip and a new battery, my Vita 1000 could weight nearly or even more than 400g (almost 410g). Definitely not gonna be playing as much with that much weight in my hands, which kinda counters the point to get and install a new battery to begin with. Hmmm I'm not sure what to do.

I really want the ps vita 2000. I have no option with my budget to buy a second hand one.

the only thing i dislike is that all the 1000 grips are like that, where it closes your vita, why cant we have one like the 2000 where the front is not closed, looks so much better
