Safe Jack Rennstand (upgraded version, reviewed model discont'd) - amzn.to/3JGVTVo
**Tip: If you need to get under a vehicle, ALWAYS have a backup support system such as another jack stand or place a wheel under a structural beam in case the primary stand fails. DO NOT TRUST YOUR LIFE WITH ANY SINGLE JACK STAND.**
This is a review of the Safe Jack Rennstand 18M-RS2. A unique jack stand that allows the jack and jack stand to be placed at the same designated vehicle life point.
It is the best jack stand for its unique function. It prevents you from possibly jacking the vehicle up at an unsafe location. Its larger size might get in the way of certain areas you are trying to get to.
Pros:
-unique same jackstand/jack location functionality that other jack stands do not offer
-2 tons/4,000 lbs rating is decent capacity for each
-not too heavy at approx. 12 lbs.
-very portable when disassembled
-pins are rated at 9,000 lbs each
-11" to 18.5" range
-two jack pad adapters provide options for different vehicles
-quality construction
Cons:
-very expensive when compared to a standard jack
-larger profile than a standard jack stand
-the whole process is a little bit more cumbersome tha standard jack stand
-no storage box; small pieces can get lost when disassembled
-more jack pad options needed to support more vehicles. Jack pads will help better distribute the load onto the jack beam.
Safe Jack: How about providing a coupon for our viewers?
Price: $139/each + shipping

What some people don't realize is that newer cars (like my ML350) don't have multiple places to jack the car up. So you can't get the car on jackstands because there's nowhere else to lift the vehicle beside the jack point where you want to put the jackstand. So a product like this is becoming necessary with the way new cars are made. $250 for a set is expensive but you want quality and it's cheaper than a hydraulic lift system for your garage.
@holmes1956O

shwndh ya they are definitely making cars so you cant get under them to work on them. The big problem I see is when you jack up one side and need to get the other side up to match thats when trouble sets in and no jack stand is going to be stable in that situation

Sounds like good concept and technology with minor tweaking for additional support and safety. 1. Crossbar to reinforce the angled part of the jack stand part. Make the reinforcement bar either removable so you can get jack in and out or hinges on one side and clip on the other side for same result. Similar to adjustable shelving units. Aside from a crossbar to reinforce them put a regular jack stand under the cross bar as a back up. If the jack stands mean the base of the cross pad will be hanging off the ground then back to the block of wood between the base and the ground.
@stephencannon3140
@stephencannon3140 5 лет назад
If your having trouble removing the jack on the lowest setting have you tried turning the jack at a 45 degree angle to remove......... 2. Could you raise the vehicle about another two inches and set the traditional jackstands on either a frame support or under the adapter plate for this stand. Essentially double protection. Personally option #2 sounds safe and logical. My biggest problem with some of the axle jacks even the low profile ones are the spot that you want to place the jack stands for support are the same lifting point as the axle jack itself. Removing the tire helps in supporting the axle but tire won’t go back on with the jack stand in the way.

Pins should be tethered to either side of the stands. Hopefully, for the price of these stands, the welds have been verified with some type of NDT, such as X-rays or magnafluxing.

So far looking at these stands I have seen 3 different designs all made by Jack Stand. One on amazon that has a different thin base.Then yours that is not adjustable at the top to make it wider so you can pull out the jack...Is yours just a early design. ????
@crankrev7055

The Rennstand 90* jack stand seems much more stable where as it doesnt have an A frame layout. Its perpendicular to the floor. Much safer and has a smaller area so you can get under neith it with a creeper and not hit it. Also maybe at yours lowest setting could you angle the jack 45* to sneak the wheels by or lay the handle down sideways and pull it out between the legs ?

At 4:44 my issue with that is lateral support where it could slide off while jacking on the other side maybe a little too high. Would be an easy fix. Once a car start to slide off, nothing you could do about it. Been there done that, fortunately not under it. How are the penetrations on those welds, has it been x-rayed?

3:04 All pins are oversized, no need to worry. I did some structural calculations for my DIY stand and turned out, that even a 6mm diameter, normal S235 steel pin can support up to 200kg. With a jack like this, it could be used for a vehicle weighing 1,5 tons. With an 8mm pin, this goes up to almost 4 tons.

Usually when someone mentions dollars you have a situation of those that can have and those that can't have. If you can't have you go to Harbor Freight with a coupon. But where the hell is a solid frame piece under many of the current models? So, I take a guess at what appears to be a "frame piece" and lift the vehicle with the floor jack. So now, where do I put the that basic jack stand so as to be able to transfer the weight of the vehicle from the floor jack to the jack stand? Take a drive to a GM dealership lot. Take a look at a 2018 Equinox or Terrain. Tell me how I can left either vehicle using a standard floor jack, then show us where to place those standard jack stands. I am not advocating the Rennstand product. But I am wondering about your questionable 'knowledge" of today's vehicles. I own a 2018 Terrain. I "attempted" to lift with a floor jack and I did not like what I witnessed. The design of these new vehicles is a whole different issue.

The only place to put a jack stand was the same spot where I lifted the damn car with the jack! Basic physics applies in all cases. What you mean is that you only understand the strength of the connections you have seen made and assume that nobody can build a stronger joint than you have seen. Wrong. Your experience in metal fabrication is just enough so that you think you know.

This jack stand is way too much! I can buy a new jack for the price of one jack stand

It seems to be a good idea but not so practical. Have to be assembled and disassembled the legs on each time you need to use it sounds not so good.

I would be concerned with this jack stands. It looks like the weakest point is the parallel side with minimal support. Triangle is still proven as one of the strongest structure.

Only on level ground :(

I wouldn't jack a car on unlevel ground anyway.

Great idea but $125 for only 1 stand? No thanks, I’ll stick to my harbor freight Jack stands they never failed on me.

callofgeorge if a Jack stand fails on you. You weren't paying attention. Nothing just blows apart unless you go overweight on it. Telltale singns of failure tell you enough is enough

Missed the whole point. These are for limited jacking point vehicles. Sometimes you jack up where it needs to and there's no second support point anywhere near.

Great concept, but I'm sceptical of the design...I'll pass for now.

Just added extra time and work when all you need is a regular jack stand. This is not ideal in a shop where time is essential. You will spend lots of time to set up all 4 lift stands. I'll pass.

Not a bad video, but no way in hell would I get under a rig with that supporting it. Just look @ 430 side mounted on that unibody frame rail ! Um..no .
