NOTE: I think it should have been more appropriate to use the word “repetitive” than “redundant”

By far the most intriguing breakdowns of this show I’ve seen. It’s like watching professional athletes break down games and plays opposed to just listening to people rant on social media. Thank you for this in depth, professional view🤙

Glad you liked it. These take a lot of work and effort and usually require me to watch each one 3 to 4 times as I compile my notes. I will do a couple dry runs and a test recording before doing the final record and edit. Hoping that effort comes across to viewers that I care about giving more concise critique and not just rage-baiting for views. I mean, sure, once in a while, I might rage about something random. We all have to vent from time to time.

You hit it out of the park again with this anatomy and autopsy episode review. You and I were both in the military and understand the basic leadership principle of being part of the solution to a problem and not another part of the problem. In this context I'm talking about how you calmly and professionally identify the good and the bad and provide examples of how you would fix the problems. None of the other channels are doing anything like this; instead, all they do is rage-hate or love-praise the episodes without any intelligent reasoning to support their opinion. Please continue with the screenshot approach along with the coach play-by-play scene breakdown with screen markups. This is infinitely better than trying to find a video clip to describe what you're talking about. I appreciate how you're covering all aspects of the production instead of just focusing on the one, two, or three things that upset you most like everyone else does. You provide a balanced view of what's going on which is what I've been looking for from other channels and special guests who actually work in the business but choose to feed the rage-hate beast instead to feed the algorithm. Looking forward to your next review, you've been a breath of calm fresh air in these never-ending maelstroms of screaming and complaining videos, and clickbait thumbnails just to get those eyeballs, clicks, thumbs, and comments to tickle the algorithm. Edit: Please keep providing production insight like Rembrandt Lighting, framing shots, and so forth. I and most people here don't work in the business but love learning how the sausage is made.

I think the reason behind people hating on the scene where Mae used the Force push pointing at the ground 25:36 is, she didn't use it in the fight but used it to escape! I like your professional analysis of the scenes.
@kneepayne
@kneepayne Месяц назад
That's a valid perspective. I think, looking at it like that, it shows that she's not very proficient if she only uses moves like this to flee when it could be a good offensive technique if used correctly.

The word “scoundrel” has sentimental value to Star Wars, a word Han and Leia would use with each other. Its use here, especially by a Jedi, comes off as the developers not fully understanding Star Wars.

This show does need more reviews like this. "I'm going to nerd out for a bit and just enjoy the lighting." was the best part to me. Rembrandt lighting, never heard of it, let alone rim lighting. There are too many reviews that have valid reasons for not liking this show, but just end up talking shit in the end. I like the ones that poke fun at it more than give reasons why it ruins everything. I like your reviews because it is going to help me with finishing few shots of a movie a friend is shooting this weekend. I know nothing about filming and I am behind the scenes free volunteer help. I hope it will turn out good. I can't imagine doing all this hard work for it to be ruined by bad dialog or bad editing... or bad lighting, as I've now seen.

Great format, appreciate the more art director style discussion. I have the unnerving feeling for a while now that most things we attribute to poor writing or even “agenda” comes from Disney/Lucasfilm’s excessive meddling structure and too many fingers in the pie. Imagine how this small aspect could have played out. Writers: so this Jedi Temple, it’s like you see in temples in Asia or in many churches. Everyone can pretty much walk in. Some time later... Target Audience Specialist: Mae needs to be more relatable for our 21-45 single cat lady demographic. Have her interact with a child and getting to help her. This has tested well with this audience. Writers: sigh… Marketing Department: this show needs to have a stronger nostalgia moment to increase approval ratings by 0.2 points. How about the door is locked by one of these door-droids from Jabba’s Palace. Kennedy: This is the way. Then you get this hodgepodge where the temple seems like open to the public in some sense, and even a Ninja can freely walk around (this being Star Wars, nobody cares if the Ninja had five eyes), AND, it’s also closed and you need to break in, and would suspicious to anyone inside. I quite strongly feel a lot of garbage comes out of such reasons, and it’s clear why such explanations are usually not that compelling on RU-vid, for the same reason as why conspiracy theories are much more interesting than the boring reality.
@kneepayne
@kneepayne Месяц назад
I think it's important to acknowledge that there is some good work done by real artists who have nothing to do with the writing that has the fanbase so (understandably) upset.

Definitely fun watching you review these. Normally other folks just go for the throat without talking about the intricacies, and I appreciate you bringing to light great set design when it shows. Reminds me how I am with a lot of games I play. Take for instance, SWTOR, (The Old Republic). I visually detest wide open spaces without clutter. There's a lot of places in that game where rooms are excessively large and miss the lived in appeal of this galaxy, and this is especially true for a lot of set designs for their starship interiors. I mean, nothing takes me more out of being immersed in my surroundings than stepping onto a ship's bridge that has enough open space between consoles that you could host multiple basketball events there at the same time. But yeah, that gal has to be one of the WORST assassins ever. Yeah, it's mostly due to bad writing, but she reminds me of Kung Pow's Wimp Lo. "We purposely trained her wrong, as a joke!"

Yes, I liked the design and feel of the Olega market and apothecary as well. Too bad the rest of the show couldn't measure up. Makes you wonder how much they spent on the pretty bottles to eat up the $180,000,000, though.😂

You don't check the credits? Jecki is played by Dafne Keen - who was also Laura (X23) in Logan. I totally agree with you about the writing (I think a high school freshman could do better) and directing (it was like the directors didn't know they could do extra takes or get a different performance out of the actors). Regarding Amandla appearance - there were more facial expressions in her disstrack than she displayed in this show.
@kneepayne
@kneepayne 29 дней назад
I found out later when I researched it because I felt that Jecki stood out, despite the small role, and I could not put my finger on it. After talking to others on a stream and looking it up then it made sense. Then I was kind of annoyed because I feel she could carry a more larger role than what she was given.

@kneepayne I wrote a comment last night and for some reason it got deleted by you tube.😔 Anyway, I just wanted to say yet again, I really enjoyed listening to your take on this episode. You are not being petty by far as you are focused on attention to detail. You discussed aspects which I didn't see. Again, you highlighted the interesting technical aspects of lighting and depth. I learned about motion blur, rembrandt lighting and framing of scenes. I agree with you opinion on the pacing and dialogue of the show and how many things are illogical, don't make sense ( such as Torbin's death). I do like the set detail in this episode, especially the interesting apothecary. However, I disliked the Jedi temple as it is didn't feel or look like a Jedi temple. Why weren't there temple guards at the front? I still don't understand how the other Jedi couldn't sense a dark force user in the temple ( the writers not comprehending the lore). I was taken aback by seeing an aggressive Jedi handling a young girl so roughly, most un Jedi like. Jeckie grew on me. Yet, the scene where she hovers the Jedi ship over the fight scene, sounding like a cop, announcing you are under arrest was a bit too much. I am looking foward to your review of episode 3, cheers🦘🐨

@@kneepayne If it is it's lose, in the film his wife is killed so he turns up to commit Harakiri but tells his story. His story involves a set of one on one combat. Spoiler - He turns up to commit Harakiri & tells his story, you learn his past. Then you find out his wife had been killed, then he tells the story of finding each of the samurai involved and killing in honourable combat one by one. Then it ends with him ending the job, a touching film & to me one of the best Samurai films of it's time. The newer transfers are also stunning, relay nice B&W film & well shot. Ps thanks for the video's, I relay enjoy the more technical viewpoint. Talking about lighting and shot's is important and missing from most commentary, a lot of people just dont have the experience to cover the details. Lighting is always hard/overlooked, I do photography and know a lot of people scared of 'flash' as it's hard. The idea of 'fix it in post' is everywhere today.
