Defunct Games reviews The Deadly Tower of Monsters, out this week on PlayStation 4 and Steam.
Although the gameplay is a bit repetitive and the camera controls are non-existent, The Deadly Tower of Monsters proves to be worth your time for the style and story alone. I laughed from beginning to end and was wowed by the late game plot twists. If you grew up loving cheesy B-rate movies, then there's a lot to like in Dick Starspeed's video game debut.

This looks really fun and I hadn't even heard of it before now, so thanks for adding another interesting title to my list. For me the childhood show displaying such films was Svengoolie, which is still going today and has actually picked up a respectable following.

I'm 1 hour into this game and enjoyong it quite a bit. I, too, really love MST3K and their take on B movies. So this game fits into that missing part of my videogamer heart I didnt know I was missing. Great review.

This game is available for free on Playstation Plus at the moment, but I wanted to see a legitimate review of the game before going for it. Good review as usual, and it was surprising to see this was a game made by the same people behind Rock of Ages, a game heavy influenced by ancient mythology and Monty Python's animation style.

You will not be disappointed by The Deadly Tower of Monsters, especially if you have a fondness for cheesy old movies. Easily the funniest game I've played this year, and one that has continued to stick with me. Hope you enjoy it.

I don't mind a bit of cheese. I find the cutscenes in Roundabout to be kind of funny, but sometimes a little awkward. But I guess that's the idea.

great review, looks like an awesome game. Does the game have a soundtrack? What about sounds effects, are they those typical 40's/50's sci fi type sfx?

+Gun MetalJackal The music heard in this review is from the game, and definitely feels like it comes from old 1950s sci-fi films. While authentic sounding, my big complaint with the soundtrack is that there isn't enough of it. The main few songs repeated a few too many times in the 4 hour adventure. And yes, the sound effects do sound era-specific. It gets a lot of the presentation right.

.. i have always been a fan of the 50's scifi movies. seeing how they did the special effects was favourite part. if and when i get a ps4, this game will be on my list to get.
