Matt tests out the new Sur Ron upgraded "X" controller, giving us his impressions and figuring out some of the new features. Stay tuned, these will go on sale from Luna Cycle very soon in limited quantities!
Thanks for the informative video. I hope you guys can make soon a video of the bike in true offroad trail riding environment.... To asses real world range and see whether the bike can potentially really replace a dirt bike... For many, there's no chance to have both....
I absolutely can confirm your insights, everyone of my friends have driven both setups and anyone would go with the X-controller. Its soo smooth when you go very slow to ride with a buddy with a rent e-scooter side by side, was pretty bad with the stock controller. Also regenbraking is a big thing.
@0 0 Its not junk, but it's still slow as fuck. Can't anyone make an honest video about them? Everyone talks about doing wheelies, but nobody shows it because you're more likely to rip the bars off than get the front wheel off the ground on a 48T stock bike ( even with the X controller). Don't get me wrong, it's a good bike, it's well made, it's well balanced and it looks good and because it's so quiet (compared to a motorbike) the possibilities are almost endless for where you can ride it, but ep or sport, it doesn't matter, its absolutely gutless and it's ridiculously slow. The headset and brake pads are shit too, but not as shit as the top speed. Another video the guy says..."Oh it breaks traction!" - No. It doesn't. It fucking doesn't. Anyone that says their performance is anything but disappointing is either delusional or they're a liar.
@@thestreetrat3660 sorry dude, but thats just not correct!!! i dont know about the bike you´ve ridden, but if you cut the cable and remove the speed limit you can go around 45mp/h which is more than enough for a small dirtbike! and wheelies are so not a problem...even without pulling the bar...i guess you´ve just ridden a surron with the speedlimit on...oh and i weigh around 200lbs
@@thestreetrat3660 did you take the speed limiter off? Im really thinking about buying this bike but your comment makes me double think. Ia jt really as bas as you say, because on every video i see some pretty decent acceleration.
Well, now that I test drove one i can completely agree. Its slow as fuck. Even when they cut the cable for the speed restrictor it's still not impressive. You can compare it with a fast moped but it doesn't even come close to a small dirtbike. Maybe a 80cc tops.
Thanks for you great videos .. Being new to ebikes and bikes in general I'm a bit confused .. Is the new Sur-Ron X built with the new X controller as stock to the bike along with all its attributes? Is the SUR-RON Super Moto Conversion Kit worth it considering I will be mostly on-road and I don't see the option to buy the Sur-Ron X in that awesome green and wonder if that's available .. Thanks for your time .. Mitch
Hello to you, silly question. I currently have a homologated sur-ron without the x controller and I am below its autonomy. The installation of this controller allows us to gain how much autonomy? By staying on a stock battery, is it better to use the x controller or take an asi bac 4000? Cordially
Thanks for your video. I bought a 2020 street legal lightbee and we did a acceleration comparison with the X Version (x controller vs standard controller). To be honest, there was no difference. Is it possible that Sur Ron has modified the standard controller so there is no advantage of switching to the x controller in terms of acceleration and top speed. The only difference might be the regeneration function? Would appreciate your feedback as being the expert. Thanks in advance
Love your videos very helpful in me deciding if I want to buy one or not , quick question , the bike in your video did u just wrap some of the parts on your bike with carbon or are they actual carbon parts
@5:31 you mentioned that going downhill you went from 64.9 to 65.1 when you got to the bottom of the hill. I submit that almost all of that small voltage increase would be a "surface charge", and as soon as you put the bike under load for more than 2 seconds, the resting voltage would be at 64.9. Im still waiting for my Sur-ron but I have had many bikes with regen and because the bike is so light and slows down so quickly its just not worth NOT using Kinetic energy in coasting. In my experience with all the bikes ive had within the full charge of the battery ive never been able to get much more than 2 % extra charge using regen. Better off just having the bike coast and using inertia to keep you moving.
Yeah, I've got one of these bikes, nice. What I want to know, is what is that blue toggle switch on the top of the battery for? I don't even know what it does, but I want one!
Can you remove the battery from the bike for charging indoors? Or is it built in and non-removable? Also, thank you for taking the time to make this video! You pretty much sold me on it.
This will only be fitted to the "X" version Sur Rons, and those will NOT be available in the US market. We are offering upgrades that are more beneficial and FAR more cost effective, compared to the "X" build.
Depends on what you're after. It's DEFINITELY way cheaper, and actually outperforms them on throttle-only. However, the stealth bomber is probably still viewed as more of a "bicycle" than this... so you can get away with more on the bike trails.
i own a stealth bomber and i want a sur ron purely for the mid mount motor and wheelies. The bomber is great but when the battery dies its a 50kg mtb thats a major hassle to ride under pedal power
I am interested also for the pedal option, since I would want to use it in the city "legally". I've been following up on sur-ron for some time for now and my question is as follows: Is the pedal option only a cosmetic appendix or is it really useful like it is in the pedal assisted bicycles for instance?
@@RibicicDeni I have installed the pedals and will say they are more cosmetic due to the gear ratio and once you get above about 20mph/32kph your legs would need to move too fast. One bonus though is that if you do happen to run out of battery, they're much better than pushing the bike and you can easily do 8-9mph/15kph on level ground. I got them solely to make the bike appear 'legal' :D
What is the difference between the stock bike, and the modded bike? I’m assuming you guys to the upgrade? I’m just curious about what you guys do to it for the mod.
TEET ENTERPRISES , thank you for your reply. I was wondering if there was a supplier of sur-ron in Canada so it's more readily available in Canada without having to pay duties tariffs. If anybody can help me with this information or how to get in contact with sur-ron it would be very much appreciate it
For sure, it's a little jumpy to first timers initially, but you soon get used to it and it's not that bad. The new controller is a significant improvement in predictability and smooth response, worth it for that alone to many! We have a customer who has a fused wrist from an injury, and the new controller is easier for him to ride and control now.
Does the Chinese government subsidies the Sur Ron? I mean does Sur Ron sell the bikes to U.S. dealers for a loss and then the Chinese government pays Sur Ron a subsidy to allow them to be profitable? Therefore killing a local or domestic company in the U.S. from developing an ebike in the United States that they can sell for a profit? I bet they do!
I don't think so. The Sur Ron is selling at an even lower price in China and we still think it's way too expensive as we have so many $1000 options. The labor cost in China is quite high compared to countries like Cambodia or Vietnam, but we have the advantages of having the complete supply chain and logistics, that's why we are able to keep the manufacturing cost down.
