Good start. got a sub here. I use Berkley rods exclusively. Shock bait casters from 6.5 medium to 7.5 heavy. Spinning 6 medium lights to 7 mediums. And have 3 lightning rods. Each has there need. They have never failed me. All on braid also. Even the crappie rods.
Real seat lock is bound to break. I've had this rod for a couple years and just earlier this evening mine broke. I was using it as my frog rod and it's been a good until it wasn't. Went to set the hook on a bass and the reel came off in my right hand the rod in my left. I was puzzled for a moment lol. Had to cup the reel and retrieve my frog.
I’ve seen some get real hissy about the reel seat. I’ve accepted that it isn’t a metal clamp. If anything pure fishing and Abu Garcia use that exact handle, and reel seat for all the Max Series Combos, so it’s a big win for me. Plus I like the beefy rod butt that doesn’t into your side as you fish with a frog or a jig
Before this rod I had an Abu Garcia rod and the tip of it broke and frayed all of my line so that was the switch to this rod. And all of the other Abu Garcia rods at Walmart we’re also afraid at the tip
@@TheFishingGuy-bh4xq interesting- yeah that part of the reason I don’t buy my combos as Wally World anymore- too many people come in and abuse those rods before they make it to the water- personally I like either shopping at a designated tackle shop or a more specialized retailer (scheels/fleet farm) because those stores actually do care about their fishing equipment
