Reviewed: Dunlop Roadsmart IV motorcycle tyres

I’ve got an R1250 RS that’ll need tyres soon, you’ve just sold me on these. I was going to get the Metzler 01 SE but I’ve read a few reports the front can be noisey on some road surfaces, so Dunlop RS4 it is. Thanks for the thorough review, great work.

I remember using sports tires to have a maximum of grip. Harder tires on the rear softer front tires. long warm up time, bad in wet conditions. Max 4000KM. I'm not a road warrior anymore. But sport touring tires today are so good. What I especially like about Dunlop tires (and in a lesser degree continental tires) is the feedback that you get and the gentle way they slide. Not chack but sjoof. That is why I used harder rear tires before tires became so good.

Dang it. I just put the Road Smart 3 on my 2018 Concours. I didn't realize that there was an updated version available. Well... looks like I'll go to the 4 in about 7k miles.

It's either the Dunlop roadsmart 4 or the Michelin roadmaster 6 for me. I commute in a f3 60miles(100km) both ways. I need something that will last. In my opinion which is baised on observation. Michelin tires are known for how long they last like the sidewall cracks before the tread pattern runs through. Dunlop i dont know much about seems like performance tire with racing background. Michelin too. Ill be looking to see if there are videos about the history of Dunlop because i like that stuff. I think ill be getting the Dunlops because they look good. Thats a good looking tire compared to the radical tread pattern of the Michelin. I think id like the look of the Dunlops on the f3. Classic look really

How long will they last for touring?

Just replaced my bridgestone t32 on my Yamaha FZ 1 Fazer, with the dunlop rs4, HUGE DIFFERENCE. Ride is softer and smoother straight away

Seems like a good tire, but stiff as hell and impossibly hard to mount at home. I have mounted many tires, and obviously so has my shop, but I couldn't do it and my shop charged me extra to mount. If you do it at home, proceed with caution, but if you have it done at a shop, you might be ok.

If they're good enough for Mossy they're good enough for mere mortals.👍

5 years is too long to develop a modern product. If they started competitor testing in 2018, they’re testing RoadSmart iv against tyres which are out of date. Competitors have had one or two iterations since 2018.

Are they better tham michelin road 6 ?

If it grips more on wet it does less on dry. So optimal tmeps use case etc? Yo did not say nothing important about 3 and 4 differences + and - etc. You are experts ?!

All you Brit testers go on ENDLESSLY talking about how tires (or bikes) are in the RAIN. Okay okay.. we KNOW you live in an exceptionally damp nation; not everyone else does. BESIDES RAIN PERFORMANCE... whaddya got?
