One of the things I always notice about the channel is how you are so complementary about the restaurant staff Gary. Having watched your videos since the beginning, I’ve noticed that the great service you generally receive is partly down to your own impeccable manners and the respect that you give the staff. Lesson for everyone watching really! Please and thanks costs nothing!
I'd agree, my first job was working in a nightclub and most the people forgot their Ps & Qs and will confess those who hadn't I'd normally serve them first when they came back to the bar. I've found I'm not alone in that and when I order I always try and smile too cos working behind a bar is a grim job.
I completely agree with you, as someone who has dealt with the general public for half my life you will always get a more pleasnt result if you treat others the same way you would like to be treated.
Hi Steve, I believe it’s nice to be nice, also be respectful especially in restaurants as the staff work long hours for generally not great money, a little bit of respect goes a long way. I really appreciate you’re comment thank you very much, enjoy the weekend 😊
No John you’re right but if it wasn’t presented correctly then it wouldn’t engage you visually, that then wouldn’t encourage you to want to try, however the food was very good at an excellent price 👍
Hi Gary, been there a couple of times, it was really good. It's quite authentic Brazilian, but a few things have been adapted to British taste. But as I said, it was always very good and both the meats, vegetables and especially their Chorizo is quite authentic. So we did really enjoy it, but, there is always a but, the second time we went there the noise level was off the charts and I almost couldn't hear what my wife was saying. But the service is very good, the meats are great and for a lunch, you can't almost beat the price. The only thing, except for the noice, the beef was a bit overdone for our liking. Your Picanha is considered the jewel of beef in South America, but it has to be precut the correct way, but from my point of view, yours was a bit overdone as well. But glad you liked it and I missed you putting the Chimi Churri sauce on your meats. Another fantastic review, mate, keeping up the best work on RU-vid at the moment! Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and speak to you before my surgery.
Re the noise level, yes, often found that with restaurants in Clapham/Tooting/Brixton/Streatham. The trouble is they have to squeeze as many in as possible when they're such good value, plus the natural exuberance of a lot of the locals. I have great difficulty following conversation on my own table in these circs.
Chicken hearts?...Let's give it a go...No! 😝 That quite honestly is one of the best AYCE buffet and endless meats I have seen in a very long time. Gary, thank you as always.
Steakhouse!!! Yes! Meats.😁 £14.95 is a good price. I like chicken hearts but they are very rich. The salad looked really good. That's exactly what you need with a meat heavy menu. Why do you do it to yourself with the chilli sauce?? Chicken thigh is my favourite part! Nice and juicy. The rump steak looked delicious and the ham even better. Just how I like it. Garlic steak looked very well well done. Lol. Perfect cooking on the sausage. Very crispy on the outside and really hot on the inside. At that price, it's great for a weekly treat lunch for two. That's a 9 out of 10 for me but the price makes it 10. That's yet another excellent review.
I was once a migrant, and I can tell you, without these cheap great-value migrant eateries, most of us would starve or go broke ! When I was in Paris summer of 2017, the Arab shops near the Gare Du Nord came to my rescue with delicious cheap meals and tea like you had at the Persian restaurant. The French places just ripped me off because I couldn't make my way to the top-notch bistros.
Gary, I love that you always remember to use your manners. It costs nothing to be kind. You are always gracious, and I believe that's why you have smashed it with getting so many followers. People are sick and tired of rudeness and sensationalism. Long live your vlog x
Started watching your videos a couple of weeks ago and really enjoy your reviews. The Food in this restaurant looked delicious and good value. I tried Brazilian food once in Liverpool and it was fantastic😊
Hi Gary, love your channel as you get on the food right away unlike other RU-vidrs who are getting greedy with long intros and even longer adverts halfway through !! 👏👏👏
That looks remarkably appealing and fresh. The other thing, also impressive is that they served their hot items in both stoneware and enamelled cast iron. That’s not cheap but it shows they care about their food. Fabulous.
Once again a superb video I have finally put my finger on what makes you stand out You are awlays respectful to the restaurant whatever the price. Some well known food channels on here seem to think they are above visiting "budget" places you display the same respect to the staff and the venue regardless You are a class act
£14.95 seems a cracking price for the buffet! The salad bar looked superb, really well laid out and the whole selection overall was impressive. Getting meats cut at the table is a nice touch as well. A well deserved 9.5👍🏼
Great review Gary, my wife is from Rio de Janeiro and after watching you she got saudade which means homesick in Portuguese, this type of restaurant is extremely popular in Brazil and Portugal. Plenty of beef, chicken but not so much pork. I've been there quite a few times. In Portuguese the R is a H. There are 3 Brazilian restaurants and one Brazilian chippy in Manchester
Sorry trying to be less verbose, so much food out (wonderful world we live in Google) UK heath safely less than 4H they can chill and reuse Another nice one. Think food in the UK got cheaper than here.
See - this is better value. The other day you were reviewing a thai place that charged 13 quid for a pad thai. In comparison, £15 for all this , wide selection and tasty meat is a much better value proposition, and much more realistic. More UK places need to be like here, and charge a reasonable fair price.
@@GaryEats also overpriced - but that was £8 ish per main dish (if I recall). The Thai place was £13-£14. To be fair, it was the pad Thai specifically I take exception to, because I know how to cook a decent one, and the ingredients are cheap as chips.
Fogo de Chão is really good. I highly recommend people go here over the more well known Preto. The quality of food and flavour is much better and they have more of the traditional Brazilian sides if you wish. It's also far cheaper than Preto.
Hope you're well Mr Gary! No joke, but I always keep an eye out for you whenever I'm on Clapham High Street during the day! Was even in the Sainsbury's opposite where you were dining in yesterday! Lol 😆
Another good review Gary and you're still in shape. I would have thought with all that grub you would have more Chins than a Chinese telephone directory 😂
What a lovely place, the food looked superb, and your tasting of it confirmed how good it was. Definitely deserved nine and a half. I love how you treat the staff with such respect. What a nice guy you are Gary. Great video.
Texas de Brazil is similar but it is more expensive - US$55 per person. We have a Fogo de Chao too and it ranges from US$50 - $100. A little more expensive. GBP15 is a great price!!
I follow quite a few food reviews, as soon I see yours posted I stop watching the others and check yours out :) Excellent value, expect the price to go up now since you have reviewed it, but that also means its priced correctly in the future ;)
It's certainly not a fair comparison, but for this price and the quality of food here compared with Wimpy's, my goodness! How do you even begin to make sense of it. Just the salad bar alone is worth 14.95.
You are always polite towards the waiting staff, this is really appreciated. This is one of the best food review channels on youtube. Please keep making more of the same Gary.
Glad to see these are making it to the UK, when I moved to the US nearly 15 years ago it was one of the things I enjoyed the most as a new culinary experience! One thing it seems you missed out on, that is a staple of the non-meat options at Brazilian steakhouses, is the pao de queijo, which is an AMAZING cheese bread that they serve. Always a favorite of mine when I visit Rodizio Grill or Tucanos, which are the two big Brazilian steakhouses where I am. Glad you enjoyed it though, it's a very filling dining experience for sure!
I've eaten at Fogo's around the world including in Brazil. Agree with all your thoughts on salads and side dishes. The thing that makes Fogo exceptional though is its amazing steaks and that's the thing you really didn't get. You definitely got value for money but kinda missed the main point/offering about Fogo. And they do amazing Brazilian cocktails too!
There used to a place like this in Liverpool which sadly did not survive lock down. I remember the extras were great and was where I tried oxtail for the first time as they had traditional Brazilian ox tail stew. I was great cos then my friend and I would sit at our table about every 3 minutes a member of staff would turn up with different season steak and ask us if we wanted a slice or two. We had to go for a long walk around Liverpool city centre and docks. The steaks were a little cooked than my taste likes but very nice but it was an amazing dining experience.
That was really cheap for that kind of buffet Gary . With extra meat and other stuff to go with it with meat and i think the salad bar would of been enough for me Gary as unlimited as well . Service charge was cheap as of the guy coming around with the meat .
I’ve looked at the current prices and in the Clapham and Brighton branches they’re a little more, but the Soho branch is £10 more, central London premium?
Gary, the value was above great just like you and your channel! I would visit this restaurant in a minute if I lived near London. Here in California we have a few very good Brazilian steakhouses and I do enjoy them. Your channel is the best! Cheers 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Wow Gary, bargain price and concept and an all round great lunch by the looks of things. The service charge is incredible considering they're constantly going around serving meats off the skewers. Very well run, and not surprised it got so busy so quickly. Easily a 9 and a half score but the review gets a golden 10 ⭐️
Gaz food looks hot and welcoming...❤ I live in the Midlands countryside...we don't have restaurants like this...its a shame...I love your videos as I'm agoraphobic so don't go out...but I watch your channel and it puts me at your table eating with you.....takes me out of my world and into yours❤
My girlfriend who I am introducing your channel too (she found Nandos one very funny and spat out Rose over the very hot wings and jibs at camera man) wants to know why you didn't ask if whether this place had enough hearts on display?
Looked great that Gary! We have a good Rodizio in Weymouth, and it's my 10 yr old's favourite restaurant. It's about double the price of where you went though, so it's definitely a treat once in a while only! Although it's fair to say, she gets her money's worth, eats about her own body weight in meat there!
Ive never been to a Brazilian Steakhouse but this review makes me want to try one, that was amazing value and you obviously enjoyed it, Id skip those hearts though, are they worse than mushrooms, hmmmmm probably not, top notch again Gary thank you, Gav
What a great place Gary and the food beautifully presented and the staff constantly alert you can see why they are highly rated, I hope that wasn't real crocodile skin on the walls (what happened to the crocodile meat?) ha ha, take care, Gareth
I think when Gary said black beans, and pork, that was Feijoada,I was hoping he would try that, but you probably know English people are very cautious if they don’t know a certain food.I love Feijoada,it’s a dish I always make for parties, and I have never had anybody not like it .
''They're about one step behind a mushroom''😂The salad and food bars were really impressive and with all the meats it was an absolute bargain at the price. For me it was an easy 10/10....Excellent food to go with an excellent video.
It’s brilliant prices , I have no idea how they make money … I’m really flummoxed on this .. even though we grow everything in Australia, the prices are ridiculous
I Used to live 5 mins from there lol The high street has changed so much over the years ,and for the better ,great places to eat now .What a great find ,great food ,great value ,and great service also . Much cheaper then the place i took my other half on Valentine's night lol Service charge was low ,yes a fiver tip all the way ,10/10 from me , Another one to add to the list ,Thanks Gary .Cheers
Wow, what a collection of foods on one plate. Incredible value. and it all looked piping hot and very appetising. They even served your meat at the table, and all for 14 95, plus return visits to the buffet. You cannot complain about this, oh and the staff were very nice too. A well deserved 9.5!
Another Good one Gary keep Eating ...and what a wonderful channel, no swearing, crashes etc, a respectible Gent eating out, what more doi you want.......😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Wonderful Buffet Gary, I guessed 9.5 out of 10 before your summation. Thanks very much. I was looking at the huge Meat Pole behind you at 08:02 sorry and the slicing. Millionaire house prices at Clapham now
Hi Gary, Loving your videos.Have been watching them for a while now in Africa, usually drooling at the different food you have available in the UK. I will be returning to London for the first time in a few years with my Tanzanian wife in 2 weeks and I just wanted to thank you for sorting out where we are going to eat out, I will definitely give this place a go, and Andys and have already booked Sunday Lunch at Blacklock, thanks for the recommendations and keep up the great work! All best, David
Well, it's just gone midnight on 21/09/24 and, having only recently discovered this channel, I've now reached review No.100! I'm off to bed, now 'cos I need to get up early and check out what seems to be the cheapest local buffet breakfast at £7.49, assuming that the online info isn't out of date!
Your enthusiasm on this one was infectious. Love how you always comment on the ambience and staff. Unsurprised at your score in view of the quality, value and service.
