Reviewing EVERY Autopsy Album! 

Honestly, Severed Survival is of my favorite albums ever. I love it to pieces.

Cannot put into words how much I love this band! Mental Funeral is one of my top 10 metal albums of all time.

Autopsy, one of the gnarliest, nastiest, Doomier and just plain awesome bands in all of OSDM. Chris Reifert especially is one of my favorite vocalists in all of Death Metal still, dude sounds like he’s vomiting blood and guts. The pioneers of one of my favorite extreme subgenres as well Death doom S: Mental Funeral, Severed Survival A: Tourniquets Hacksaws and Graves, Morbidity Triumphant B: Headless Ritual C: Macabre Eternal D: Acts of the Unspeakable Shitfun: Shitfun

Disagree on Acts Of The Unspeakable. The muddy production and the frantic, almost schizophrenic song structures and riffs are what makes it great in my opinion. It kind of takes the insanity of Mental Funeral and kicks it to another level. Other then that and a few of the placements in the ranking of the modern albums, I think you got it pretty much right.

Love me some autopsy. First 2 albums are undisputed classics. I can’t even say how many times I’ve Listened to mental funeral, but it’s probably in the hundreds lol.

Was very excited to see this in my RU-vid feed. One of my all-time favorite bands.

Great job reviewing one of the greatest bands. I personally think Autopsy earned every one of those 65 minutes of macabre Eternal. It was so great that they were back, and not only back, but with a whole load of great music. Wouldn't want all their albums to be that long but this one? Yeah sure, especially being able to hear it for the first time back then. Their comeback in general has been pretty incredible. IN my opinion there's no band metal needs more in this time than Autopsy, or at least the idea of Autopsy. Pumped for the new one too. Marty at heavy Metallurgy already reviewed it and I'm definitely stoked.

Legendary death metal band. Mental Funeral is still their best to me but a pretty solid discography!

I am not really a death-doom fan, but Autopsy is like my sole exception to that caveat. They manage to keep the Sabbath-like sections and the punky death metal sections separate yet cohesive in a way that is slimy and gross yet fun and enjoyable like only the best gory B-horror flicks can be! My favourite Autopsy album is Mental Funeral: an album so good that even that rinky-dink "no-fun" edgelord Euronymous of Mayhem infamy had that album in his Helvete record shop in Oslo back in the early 90's. Off-topic: I really enjoyed the WITTR/Blackbraid/Gaerea show last night (even if WITTR should've calmed the heck down on the smoke; it was not needed and someone could've passed out/perished in there...😬)! Blackbraid and Gaerea were freaking insaaaaaaaane!

Autopsy have always been hit or miss for me, but Mental Funeral is unquestionably one of the DM Greats!

I love Autopsy! They're the creators of the quintessential death metal sound imo.

I may be new to Autopsy (been listening to them since 2019), and this sentiment may be coming from a honeymoon period with the band, but here goes; Autopsy are better than your favourite band. “Not fucking Swans” I hear you cry, but yes, Autopsy are better than Swans. You see, Gira pales as a vocalist when he is stood in the presence of Chris Reifert. Everything may well be in its right place for Michael, and he may well be the darling of many a university dorm wall, but Chris Reifert could literally eat him in between tracks. Couple that with the fact he is also playing drums, and I think you’ll find this analysis quite satisfactory when it comes to comparing the two. Let’s not even get started on the fucking riffs here either. I don’t care how good the riff in whatever Art Rock song you love is, it’s not as good as these ones. Does Kendrick Lamar have better lyrics? Well, his dick isn’t free but I am unaware of the price list of Chris' “extra” services as a vocalist and drummer so we will have to leave that one for now. The name 'Autopsy' already evocates something disgusting and uncomfortable that reeks of putrefaction (no pun intended). This is Death Metal with a HUGE dollop if Doom in the mix. Yes, with all caps. A band that wears their Sabbath and Vitus influences on their sleeves and, most importantly, riffs, leads and overall atmosphere deserve way more respect than what they get. Anyways, i meatride them way too long. Is it a ridiculous claim? Unquantifiable? Maybe should i compare them to, say, a Metal band? Maybe but i'm not rewriting all of this. Ask nicely and i will supply you with a list of bands Autopsy mops the floor with. If you're going to cry when i say they're better than Megadeth and Mayhem then hold back and save yourself some pain.

Another vote for Headless Ritual. One of the best full lengths of their career. I’m about the same age as the guys in Autopsy and I’ve only been listening to them for a couple weeks, but I’ve been diving deep. Instantly one of my favorite metal bands and my favorite death metal band of all time. When you add in all the EPs, singles, compilation appearances, not to mention Abscess and the holy shit they’re good STATIC ABYSS, I just can’t believe how prolific and consistently killer these guys are. Metal gods of the highest order.

The quiet section in in the grip of winter is legendary.

Love mental funeral and morbidity triumphant, I like most everything else except shitfun and the album that came before that, so looking forward to the new one.

Did not hear every Autopsy album but the ones I heard are better than Cannibal Corpse to me who is obviously a lot more well known.

I love shitfun

autopsy is a really unique early death metal band in my opinion, nobody sounds like them with their unique blend of punky death and doom. besides nile, death, immolation and gorguts they are definitely among my favorite death metal bands. that being said, i think their modern era is extremely underappreciated, especially hacksaws might actually be my favorite autopsy album, so much variety and flair on that thing.

Shitfun has the worst ever album art but nevertheless Autopsy are a fairly consistent iconic death metal band and still going strong

I own almost all of their albums (physical copies, of course).

I feel pretty much all of the autopsy is killer slime pus assault to the ears and abscess bimlack is also killer ...however I go to severed survival for the most pus from them ...to me it's like reign in blood of the metal rot aye 🤘😋 hails , there are those that go to mental funeral however severed survival is the go to on my end 😋
