I am feeling the same. There are a few things I would like to try but I’m not wearing makeup except very rarely right now, so do I really want to spend almost $100 for products that won’t get fair use right now.

@@Riverchild27 thats understandable. The virus has really put a damper on the want for beautiful things. What I originally wanted to purchase was a fragrance but its out of stock at sephora. If I really want it I'll just pay full price at Viktor & Rolf's site. No need to "waste" $100 bucks when i can just apply it to what i really want.

Just a couple of questions about the primer if that’s OK? Firstly, is it scented, as that’s what has put me off the VDL? And secondly, do you think you could you use it over foundation as a highlighter? Thanks

Yes! The scent of the VDL primer is too intense for me. I was wondering the same thing about the scent of this one. Hannah did mention how heavily scented Danessa's vision flush products are, so my hopes aren't too high :/

Yeah, I just can't get over the scent of the VDL. I'd pass it on but none of my friends/family are into makeup or this type of product. Not quite sure what to do with it.

Hi Hannah, I'm curious, I have the VDL primer and I can't get the same effect as you, how many pumps do you usually use? I'm fair skin but not as fair as you... Edit: I don't know if you ever tried anything from Surratt but their Lid Laquers are the only eye gloss I've tried that really set. And as a lover of soap brows, I would also indicate the brand's Expressionist Brow Poomade. It's like soap brows in a tube!

I've seen Danessa use the balm and then layer a very finely milled illuminating powder or highlighter over it, which I will often do with the Lumi Drop. I wouldn't use something like Ofra, instead something like an Hourglass strobe powder or one of the Physicians formula or bobbi brown shimmer bricks. FOR SURE use a synthetic brush. A natural brush is going to pick up too much powder and then pick up the balm. Like a crappy synthetic bruch (I keep one for things like this - Elf's concealer brush, or any undereye brush). It works well to set down the Lumi Drop and the Danessa balm, because you have meetings all day and are wearings masks etc. It takes some playing to see how much balm you can get away with and how much product you need to set it. I've seen Alicia do this as well, but I've been doing it for a bit with the lumi drop (almost panned) and the DM balm. But I am intrigued by the rosewater color because I think it might be a good pair for my Rituel de Fille vampy blush. But I gotta pan a few more face products still because I am at storage capacity on complexion, so no more in until a few go out. Luckily I do not stuggle with panning colored complexion products, especially creams. Do I wear too much blush. probably, some days I wear four.

I have said before that I wish I was originally turned on to makeup more by makeup artists than by influencers /reviewers because the makeup artist is crafty and will do multiple things with one product. I guess though, that is not what I looked for. I wanted to know good makeup. Even now I have to resign myself in and not buy a palette from a brand just because I want to try their formula. I appreciate that with your reviews you tend to bring to my attention a makeup artist I've never heard of. It would be really cool if you started a series about makeup looks you love inspired by MUA's you love. You know I was thinking today, 2 eye techniques Lauren Mae Beauty does have really caught my attention and I've tried them out and really kind of liked. Like the pink accent shadow she does 9n her inner brow and then the sand which eyeshadow technique. I think the sandwich is going to be my go to style for colors. And I'm just enjoying playing with the accent shadow. Also, I think it is so interesting that you review things I've never heard of like Roen and Danessa Myricks. I love this because I struggle to know how to find new MUA's to follow.

first of all, i audibly squealed and gasped when i saw the swatch of that primer. i currently already have milk hydro grip, tatcha dewy cream, and glossier futuredew to finish panning (which i layer and LOVE) but i will definitely be getting it in a couple months, when it's colder, physically and metaphorically. for now i've been playing around with the Tiara vision flush, which i suspect you would adore even more than i, since the other illuminator was a bit deep on you. it's reminiscent of glossier or milani's liquid highlighters, but a bit thicker and when swatched on my much paler boyfriend's skin was neigh translucent. i think that you've hit your stride in terms of content, and we look forward to a part two. Milky Way really did awaken that little kid playing with paints feeling for me as well, and I'm enjoying all of my products more. Thanks for helping others find balance between the old and new by just being yourself

Thank you so much for this video - what a thoughtfully created brand. I would love to see a more detailed comparison between the charlotte tilbury spotlight wand, daniel sandler watercolor glow, and danessa myricks illuminator. I don't own an intense, glossy liquid highlighter that sets down. I know the CT is your "holy grail," but the other two are a much better price and price per ounce so I would be interest to hear a more specific comparison and recommendation for someone with that gap in their collection!

hooray for ART!! if you had more thoughts on this topic i would love to hear about them. art vs. consumerism is how i would sum up the history of beauty youtube. it started as people sharing makeup looks and the products were secondary. buying a product as a substitute for taking action - ie, doing a makeup look, learning a makeup skill - is a trap humans seem to fall into easily, but it leaves us feeling quite unsatisfied. creating is the antidote to buying.

Oh wow, thank you for swatching the vision color with the rituel de fille eros and mentioning the scent. I can't stand rose scent in make-up/skincare it just makes my eyes water. I've been looking for a concealer pen to replace my favorite discontinued product and DM has one that is a nice price point and they have samples which is excellent.

I absolutely love her artistry and I’m going to make some of her products my next makeup purchase. She teased on Instagram that she’s coming out with a UV reactive face product and I’m totally going to try that. She’s so exciting and I can’t help but comment all the time BUT she actually replies and makes me feel noticed and special. I never had that experience! Aside from smaller RU-vid channels. I always appreciate that personal touch, even though I never expect it.

Very late to this video, but from my research so far it seems like the ordinary matte black ColorFix, applied and sheered, should then stay put and not crease even when the clear ‘glaze’ is applied over the top, giving that grungey (albeit not metallic) black shade. Can anyone confirm this?

Hi Hannah, in regards to the blush/Wet Balm what is the price per ounce comparison to the Holika Holika product. You mentioned this for the primer but wondered what it was for the balm, especially as you are considering other colours, would it be better/more cost effective to get smaller ones from Holika Holika so that you'd use them up before they went off if you had so many/multiples of them.

I can't say I've had the same experience-- I've been using the DM dewy finish clear with shimmer and it really in the end is just a silicone/thin vaseline with particles of glitter.. goes on nicely but after 3 hours its as if the balm evaporated and all you're left with is glitter in strange migrating placements... not the best. I think her makeup is amazing for shoots but not really formulated for life. Same with the eye foils--I've got one in Alien and TBH it ends up looking dry and somehow heavy? :( sry DM, but I'm sticking with Supershock Colorpop or Stila or VB or PM etc. but lord knows I'm curious about that primer you sure did present well...

I've been using various liquid illuminators (not my light wand) with my primer over my sunscreen And some days, that's it for my complexion, the primers I use tend toward skin tone even-ing, and then other days I do various versions of my full face, which might just be an hourglass setting powder, or full foundation. And I am pretty loyal to the bronze color of Marc Jacobs dew drop because when thinned with primer, its how my skin looks after a little bit of sun and exercise, but I might try the DM veil in bronze. I've tried the ILIA, which is lovely, but doesn't add that bit of color. What I also love about this combo is that i don't need to add more highlighter to have super glow when I put on foundation (although if I do, the beauty light wand is the most compatible). My skin is just a dash darker than yours (if you are a 0, I am a 1.0), but its so pretty and effortless and I am close to finishing the ILIA I was trying and now just debating between the DM and MJ. Although the DM is markedly less expensive, but it may also be smaller.

I have four of the Dew Wet Balms and adore them! On my skin, the shades read more translucent/transparent with shimmer, but they give me the same dewy finish. I’ll use them as a base for powder highlighter and it’s awesome for that too!

I was excited and intrigued by Danessa and her stunningly beautiful looks she creates... then I found out she sells and through Morphe which made question if her products are poorly made products like Morphe’s are (imo of course re Morphoe). So now I don’t know how I feel about her products. I still admire and think she herself is extremely talented but I don’t know about her products.
