I have a massive smile on my face through all your videos Gary; today is no different. I’ve had a rubbish few months and you and your videos cheer me up every time. Thank you so much!
Thank you very kind and I agree with the other kind comments you have received, If you every feel down send me an email and I will call or see what I can do to help. Really take care 👍
Great review Gary. Pellicci's is on my bucket list as every food reviewer has given Pellicci's a stellar review. Their bread pudding is apparently the best, especially with double cream.
Oh I am drooling now, I love spaghetti bolognaise. You look very happy Gary. Starter amazing. Restaurant beautiful, art deco my favourite. Spag Bol looks gorgeous, I can taste it. I agree Parmesan, lots of it. This is so enjoyable watching you enjoying the food and the ambiance. One of the best reviews.
This was the one i was waiting for and Gary (looking very dapper today!) didn't disappoint. Food looks amazing, but also great emphasis on the service , that is why people were queuing to get in. No service charge and you get a delicious complimentary bread pudding to take with you! Man I'm sold! People let's get Gary to 100k subs this year and a well deserved YT silver button. Then who knows...maybe Gary will have a special edition ep for reaching the milestone.
Pellicci's as you've discovered, is an institution. One of the few reasons I regret moving away, as this was my local cafe and never ate there as much as I should have. But enough to know just how good it is! Always great food, and service. A well deserved 10.
Oooh, those dishes looked so tasty. Just what you need on a cold day-although you probably should sit inside next time. Glad the cameraman was fed. I was thinking of starting a Go Fund Me for him. Poor little mite, shivering in the corner with just some crumbs for a blanket. Maybe a slight exaggeration.
I often imagine that he is filming from inside a little cage ,with some bad rogan josh for company. At least that place more than made up for the last shocker.
The energy of that place came through the screen and into the room here! Especially the birthday song 😅. What a lovely place and another one for the list. Great video as always Gary (Cameraman too).
What a winter warmer that was Gary,,smiles alround Italians are renown for good family values and good home made food,,i think E Pellicci's has it all in a nut shell superb all round. Good marks Gary well derserved given a rare 10/10,,tho i must say ill give your singing a 5.5 out of 10 lol,,really happy video Gary, off to cook some pasta 😋🍝🧥🧣🧤
As of Italian heritage, home made pastas make a massive difference, my mom never used water just egg yolks when she made her pasta. Homemade pasta in Italy was even better, told me it was the flour they used. Get yourself over to Italy, if you can get off the usual tourist areas you will find better food and much cheaper.
@@GaryEats A Gary's Italian Tour would be amazing. I'm planning on going to Naples this year just to basically eat! Would love to see you discovering hidden gems in little Italian towns.
Personally I can’t see that that pasta was home made, and there is really no point in making fresh pasta at a greasy spoon cafe … it’s probably advertised as home made spaghetti bolognese but I doubt very much they make there own spaghetti
@@marcd6897😂 haha sorry buddy … whilst pasta is easy to make the Spaghetti form isn’t, Pellici’s is basically a cafe it’s not fine dining, why would they bother making spaghetti from scratch, just pointing out Gary has probably misinterpreted the wording … Ciao Buonanotte 😴
The spaghetti looked perfectly cooked and the meat sauce stuck to it perfectly. All that was missing was a glass, or two, of red wine. The parmesan cheese should have been sliced from a block of fresh cheese.
This is a very good cafe. Always good for breakfast. Never had anything else apart from the EXCELLENT bread pudding which I get to take away after breakfast, so I'm excited to see this one. Excellent call going for the Spaghetti Bolognese as it's a great benchmark dish. The croquettes looked absolutely delicious. I love things that are as crispy and crunchy as advertised. The spag bol, that is a BIG portion and good value. It's a big 10 from me. I always have parmesan on my Bolognese and a bit of extra pepper. No service charge. The way it should be. Great review Gary.
This is what all smaller restaurants/ cafes should strive towards. I've been there many many times, and it's always been a 10 great review as always. That 50k is creeping up fast, and it's still January 😂😂
I'm 70 and Italian by descent: in my parents' house we never had spag bol: dad especially [his mum, a superb cook, from Ravello] and my mum from Amalfi didn't like it, too messy to eat BUT the bolognese sauce on toast or top quality sausages cooked in tomato sauce with the spaghetti was a frequent and luscious alternative. Y U M!!!!!! Pellicci's is on my bucket list, am drooling over the menu whilst typing this up. Great work as usual, @Gary Eats!!
Hi Gary and Mr Cameraman. Well my first comment tonight is that iv heard Blacklock are very nervous about you going here and fear they could be knocked off there top spot 😄. Some of the other points i loved were the fact that they treat every one like family, its so nice when you have such welcoming places. I must admit i was impressed with the spaghetti bolognaise, its an easy dish to make but a difficult one to get right, and having it without parmesan is a sin in my book. Re Mr Cameraman today or shy boy as he's known, a great place like E Pellicci's and he has a bacon Sandwich !! tell him he's a philistine from me 🤣 Chris.
What can I say Chris he was totally out of order, he know I wouldn’t touch it that’s why😳…. It is a really close call. Breakfast then dinner, actually that would be a great video idea 💡👍
Firstly, brilliant video again. It is almost impossible to explain this place.. it's not attentive service that you get in some places.. it's more.personal, and genuine, they genuinely care. And everyone has a photographic memory too... Nev spoke to me when I first went in, as he does, and the second time, months later he come over and asked if I had went to buckfast street just up the road, ( he suggested it on my first visit, as I'm Scottish 😆😆😆) that's before even going on about how good the food is. ❤
Looks lovely Gary still waiting for your wolly hat to appear Italian food looks amazing and the croquettes yum love you are feeding the cameraman keep up the great work ❤
Great to see you looking so happy over a bowl of spaghetti . The quality of the food is incredible, far far superior to some fine dining places. Pellicci is a hidden gem, and if they did not consistently turn out good food, locals would not keep it going. Support independent cafes!
@@GaryEats Learning alot from your vlogs - some of it is quite sad in that so many people are prepared not to question how the food was produced. Also local cafes are more 'human' that the anonymous buffets - and it seems quite a few people are terrified of human interaction. Not you - you thrive on it.
@@markjones327 Totally agree spag bol is hard to beat! I make it with 1/2 pork mince and 1/2 beef mince, couple of bacon rashers cut into small pieces, lots garlic, onion, 1/2 sun dried toms and tin toms, wine and rosemary, s&p. It's so tasty, even offer it to Italians.
So happy to know that Pelluci's is still going. I moved out of London over 30 years ago, but it was a regular haunt of mine back then. Also pleased that it still maintains it's high standard. Glad you enjoyed it!
Another winner Gary ( and CTP😊) Pellicci's has had more reviews than the " Mousetrap " And as of yet never a bad one 😊❤ Return customers are the mark of a good restaurant, add to that not all are locals who make the journey. When you start to sell Merchandise of your establishment, you are there ❤😊 and when you've been there for so long. And keep such high standards. Heaven on earth❤ You covered all the very best of the food, nothing to add, maybe could have shown the bacon 🥓 roll😂A slab of bread puddin' to take away bliss Many thanks chaps, always get satisfaction & enjoyment from the honesty that is now your benchmark. Up,up& away Allan&Family
Do you think the price was good, 25 quid for spag bol and some fried potato things? I don't. Lived in London all my 60 years, a tradesman and i know almost every street and cafe in this city and and i would never pay 25 quid for that. Sure, i bet it's good but i can get as good in other places for way less than half the price. You just have to know where to go.
My sister took me there in the late 60s when I was about 12 and visiting London. The food was an eye-opener for a kid from Yorkshire, and the atmosphere was enthralling. What's most impressive about this place is how they have adapted to changing expectations in food service. All the "hail fellow, well met" stuff is new, and perfect for the social media types today. Very clever business people, who deserve all their success.
Just seeimg you smile as you ate the food justified the 10/10 Gary! Its not often that I've come to a place that could do that, so I'm a little envious - especially with the ham & cheese croquets! Lol As for the Spag. Bol, I ALWAYS have to have parmesan on mine, otherwise it just doesn't taste authentically Italian - if I've no Parmesan, I always finely grate some of the Parmigiano Reggiano block cheese I keep in the fridge which, to be honest, always tastes better than the pre-grated parmesan bought from the supermarket! Lol
My eldest son lives in Bethnal Green and he regards Pelluci’s as the benchmark for breakfast and pasta. Regarding you question regarding parmesan on bolognese, it’s a bit like we say up here, ‘apple pie without cheese is like a kiss without a squeeze’.
My sons and I went there in August last year but couldn't get in because of the queue. It's probably my fault as it was a Saturday and most of those queuing were tourists. It's definitely a bucket list place and I'm determined to get in there this year, only now I'll be going on a weekday. Another great video, Gary, thanks for sharing.
The spag Bol is tremendos. I’ve had it a number of times. I’ve never had the pleasure of having the croquets. Next time if I’m lucky. Great video as always.
Looked amazing Gary 👍🏾 Croquettes used to be a big thing but don’t see them much nowadays, pity as when done properly they are a great menu item, as you can testify 😊
You asked Gary. No parmesan on Bolognese sauce. Before that it looked great! I went to pellicis many years ago. George pub across the road, sun pub down the road, Spoon's down the road, fab late night kebab place, happy days
Thank you so much for sharing your experience today Gary. The quality of the croquettes, bolognaise, spaghetti, pesto sauce and parmesan cheese was outstanding, as was the service and atmosphere. Glad the camera man enjoyed his bacon roll as well. This video was a great one to watch as experiencing a lot of problems with MS symptoms and it’s certainly cheered me up this evening. Apart from being half German, I have some Italian in my blood, so that cheered me up as well. All the very best and catch you soon Andreas 👍👍👍
Andreas. You're far too kind as per usual my friend. I'm really sorry to hear about your MS symptoms, if there's anything I can do to help then please email me :)
@@GaryEats Your videos do wonders for my moral. Keep doing what you do Gary, to bring joy and happiness to us all. You Tube has some gems and you are certainly one of them. Bless you Gary for everything you do 💎💎💎
Those croquets looked outrageously good ! When I come to London , this fall - I’ll jot the name down. We appear to be staying in notting hill. Looking fwd to my return after 15 years! Love my visits Thanks Gary - looks like it made my list
Evening Gary what a great place, love Italian everything! the atmosphere as well is usually always fun and a great laugh. Italian food is definitely my favourite. The croquettes looked great. Spaghetti looked great too, and very hot just how Iove it! glad you gave it 10/10. Thank you Gary no wonder you are happy! Suex
Spag bol is my fave meal. No way cameraman had a bacon butty when there was all that great food on offer Gary sack him lol. Have you never had pesto on pasta? It's amazing. Cold pesto on warm pasta is 5 star
Great quality there Gary the Italians really know there stuff my mouth was watering especially with those croquettes. I bet you are glad you went back, nice to see a 1000 views in 21 minutes and 46k subscribers you must be very happy it just makes answering messages that more difficult, take care Gary until the next time, Gareth
Fantastic to see you back there and it seemed a lot of fun. Those gorgeous Croquettes would have won me over but the Bolognese looked lovely too. Never tried it with pesto before. Hope you return here for a round three review despite saying otherwise.
Gotta love a good spagetti bolognese 😊, food looked delicious 😋 I had just eaten my tea and still this made me feel hungry 😂 I agree with you Gary you have to have parmesan cheese on your bolognese 😊❤, though my son used to call it stinky nappy cheese 😂❤
Ah! That's a proper Italian cafe! Looked excellent and proper home made. I'd love to go there. I hope you're not offended but you don't look like you're used to eating spaghetti, that spoon was just getting in the way 🤣
Brilliant thanks Gary for another excellent video, I think if you stick to homemade food it’s made with love you can’t go wrong and I definitely want to go to this place soon. It looks amazing no more buffets for you! Great haircut by the way.👍 You definitely made my mom‘s day today. She’s had a bit of difficult time and she really enjoys watching your videos so please give a shout out to Janet and keep up the good work can’t wait for the next video. Cheers.
Hello Janet, I’m really sorry to hear your having a bit of a difficult time at the moment. I really appreciate you watching my videos that is so appreciated, thank you so much 😊.
As a fellow Italian this is making my mouth water . what a lovely place . im sure they are playing a game of cards out the back with the home made wine , looks like a real " come hungry leave happy " cafe . im defo going to visit .
I love Italian food and what you had looked delicious and authentic. I put parmesan and pesto on food. The spaghetti & sauce and croquettes i would definitely go for. I liked that place and have made a note of it and i hope to visit. Good one Gary👍
Gary another great video fella. My neck of the woods. Used the cafe back in the 80s. Haven't been since 2010. Going to go back ASAP. Keep up the good work fella.
Lovely place Gary been here few times , the food is cooked with love and so fresh mate , great spag Bol witb parmesan 🔥 great vid Gary hope your over your Delhi belly .
Hi, just seen this video as I looove Italian food 😋 great review by the way!! But have you ever tried putting boursin cheese on top of spaghetti bolognese instead of parmesan??? Oh my God delicious 😋 😍 soft and creamy garlic cheese melted in the bolognese yummy 😋 you should try it!!!
Every time I go to a cafe, I hope I'm stumbling across a gem like this. It's rarely the case, but good to know they do exist!! Thanks for another great vid.
the EASIEST 10 ever!!! Along with BAR ITALIA in Soho (the Other London Italian Institution) my two fave London Cafes!! Another perfect review sir! GM Rich
It looks good .... spaghetti bolgnaise is usually something I have at home or something my mother would make back in 80s ... along with chicken Kiev ... However the starter and main course looked very appetizing for a lunch meal - a little heavy - I might fall asleep at my desk after lunch, but no complaints ..... Good review, Gary .... Hope you have recovered from that buffet .... and Gordon Ramsay's curry.
The food looks great. Home made and plenty of it, as if you were eating at home. Makes all the difference. One thing that I have noticed is that the larger the place, the less quality and the higher prices are. Ok, perhaps not always, but pretty much so. A lovely place to visit. It is already on my list! Cheers Gary, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Oh no. You can not eat pesto with such a carefully prepared bolognese sauce. It takes 3 hours to cook. Sacrilege. The croquettes looked delicious. I must visit the place. Thank you again. Nice haircut!
What a delicious 🤤 starter and main, absolutely fantastic gazza if I'm ever in bethnel green i will be heading in to that cafe 👍😋 another great video big gazza 👍🤤
I hope this is seen as a compliment Gary - what I love about your videos is you just come across as a normal bloke who you can also trust to tell the truth without being eccentric. No annoying editing or scripted videos. I’m getting SO many recommendations. Make sure to review some places in Kent btw - lots of great pubs and restaurants in the south-east. Cheers!
Not sure what TV programme it was, but some years back someone visited Italy to sample some home cooking and was told that the Italians rarely use spaghetti with the sauce, far preferring shell or tubular types for containing the sauce.
@@GaryEats Hmm.Websites are suggesting that, traditionally, it should be tagliatelle and it also seems that most of us may have been making it wrong for years by using garlic and tinned tomatoes! Damn!
Looks great, I’ll remember it when I’m over that side of town. Now, I mentioned the “Imperial Feast” in my home town. Do you remember? It’s the place where there’s no time limit, but if you waste food, you pay for it. There are 114 items on the menu. If you take off the extra, sauces there’s 110 dishes. It’s more expensive on. a Friday and Saturday, £22.80 per head. I’ve booked for 3rd Feb. If it’s still as good as before, I’ll let you know and you can “give it a go”. It’s an hour on a direct train from London St Pancras.
top video again gary , always great to see your videos mate keep them coming =) E pellicci is definitely on the to do list . dont forget to try the pheasant inn in harlington mate the steak pies are amazing
my daughters lived round the corner when they were in college. the wonderful owner used to watch out for them- they had his tel number for emergencies. used to send them home to Cardiff with bread pudding from Nona - and my mum would send welshcakes back for the wonderful family. happy memories!
Looks an amazing place, next time I get to London to watch my football team, I'll definitely get there early so I can go to Pellici's, great atmosphere. As always keep up the great videos 👍👍👍
@@GaryEats love a proper good, massive English to start the day but do love home cooked Italian food too, that looked amazing and generous portions. Keep up the great work, love all your videos 👍
It's been there for yrs( Decades, serving the community) and there's a good reason for that! ( one little quibble,it operates quite a short day 8 -3.30? But u cant have everything) Nxt time i'm in London i will check it out!..good Job Gaz👍☘️🇨🇮
@@GaryEats There's another Cafe, straight down Bethnal Green Rd..Roman Rd/Globe looks good& and also a really cheap Sunday Roast' in a Pub ,further down Roman Rd...
Wow, what an experience. Maybe you should go back again and try something different? Loved seeing how happy you look. Incredible place with superb food.
That smile could only be a smile of a satisfied customer. And I agree, that place is awesome. The food is spectacular because it is food made with love. I know. I was there. Parmesan goes well on everything.
Freshly grated Parmesan always on any pasta dish, as far as I'm concerned! That did look lovely, Spag Bol is my go to dish for keeping the warmth in, that and Chilli Con Carne of course , top marks for a top place! If I ever do get back to the smoke, I've the address written down!
