This is why I love my 2007 e64 M6 s85 v10 smg and why nobody should be scared to buy one! This is so much car for the money, everyone should experience one of these! 2007 bmw e64 M6 v10 review .
I’m so glad I’ve been taking and putting the Motors in and out of theses things ya for years I still love em still have my convertible it’s a classic bring it out every summer 💪
I miss my 2010 bmw m6 coupe! I had a loud exhaust so what I did I switched back to the stock exhaust with cut outs I removed the secondary cats and resonator. Still quiet almost like stock but with the cutouts opened it was Damm loud in a good way! I raced a buddy of mine who had the convertible like yours and it was a pretty big difference! I pulled him by a few cars. No mods on either of them so that comes to show weight makes a BIG difference in acceleration.
A beautiful car, some people don't like the design, but I love it. I wish you all the best, I've had BMW's for years and I love the way they drive. 🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧
Ralpha Romeo dude, you need to. These cars are cheap. Spend 25k on a nice one with low miles. I will be posting a one year ownership review video on the m6 within the next 2 weeks. Subscribe, stay tuned!
The V-10 BMW M-6 Is the best driving experience ever !!! This is a future classic supercar, Probably the best car on the road right now, Do not sell this car in the near future it will only appreciate in value, Keep on loving it and enjoying it there is no other car like it in the whole world.
Yeah I’m starting to see these 2006-08 model bmws are starting to level out and appreciate since we are finally getting to see the durability over the years even the reliable base model bmws
@@tylerf1493 u cant even mod that m6 with that unreliable engine thats ready to blow up. all the ads i see on autotrader are people trying to get rid of them with stock everything. its heavy as hell too, id never buy it with those engine and transmission problems
Wow yours runs hot. Must be the change to 0w-40I stuck with 0w-60 based on overall design specs and ran with the BE bearings which add .0005 of clearance on the journal to ensure proper ooze flow. I run at 202 deg F
Sounds and looks great. have owned several BMWs, and tempted on one of these or an 850 12 cylinder. LOL on your use of "Kind of ghetto" in reference to the air intakes with the heat wrap.
Troy Wilson haha yeah I’m getting there. I have lots of cars I haven’t made videos eith. I travel 10 months out of the year for work. RU-vid is just a little hobby when I have free time. Better and more videos coming this summer. I appreciate the love
Have the manual version E63 2008. Troy did a great job replacing the motor years ago (maybe 7-8 years ago) Didn't know about the bearings back then,so I was one of the first to have issues. Since then I've put 100K more miles on the car. Add bearings as part of the maintenance and this is a great car. BTW - My bolsters on the seat are adjustable. Say hi to Troy for me. (Shawn in Atlanta, red M6)
🔥🔥🔥🔥 I have the 645 sport I'm getting my muffler delete this week and I'm gonna get another drop top one I love the rims are they 22s imma get those two 💪🏽
had one some years ago, only issue was that the all the mini computers inside the car used fiber optic cables, this transated that just due to the road bumps, every 2-3 months i eneded to take the car to the mechanic to re aligne the cables cause my car maybe decides to turn off 2 cylinders, or to go into safety engine mode and not rev higer than 4krpms, so i sold it, cause it was a pain that was in the mechanic more than in the road, i had it for 4-5 years
@@DannyDoneDidit2X probably can get one for cheap. I got mine from auction for 10k with just under 100k miles All I had to do was change the thermostat on it and its been fine ever since.
I never have a bimmer but thicker oil i think is good for s85 because it was designed for high rev but more important im very sore they know people get use it like crazy driving
Nice video I just bought one yesterday and I have a quick question. Is their a park option in this car or is it neutral and e brake on everywhere you go?
Thank you the dealer told me leave it in neutral and I was like no way. I was curious if I was on a hill facing up where I could roll backwards if I’d need to turn it off in reverse? Kinda like a manual would. Or just in 1st everywhere.
What did you do to yours to bulletproof it? I did a twin disc clutch to solve the SMG issue. Also who's bearings did you go with? I did BE as the ECS ones weren't rated and they simply recycled the PPG coatings.Just curious. I have an E64 s well. Silver with grey top. Also what exhaust is that? Dynan?
5W-50 over the 10W-60? You're brave. Changing the viscosity of both hot and cold temp of the oil when you only identified a cold viscosity problem is rather risky. maybe try a 5W-60 or a 0W-60?
Modern Muscle 180 look up Troy Jeup on Instagram. It’s proven. Think about it. When do you get wear on your rod bearings? Cold startup, because lack of immediate oil/too thick. Do some research on the s85 and look at Troy’s insta. He’s the s85 king
Hey man, Ive seen a 2006 m6 I really want to get. What do you think? How's your's going? any problems? anything i should make sure to check before getting it?
the name of the transmission is misleading. a normal sequential transmission is dog engagement with a groove cut selector shaft. It is cross gate (every change goes through neutral) operation just like a manual transmission. The SMG has hydraulic actuators for direct shift without going to neutral like Ferrari’s and is synchromesh. The operation is sequential but that is true for normal automatics and double clutch as well. A better name, idk, single clutch robotized direct shift SRD :) the most amazing thing is the SMG system does its own double-clutching - that is, blipping the throttle to match engine speed to the transmission speed to make shifts smoother - when downshifting. And it does it much faster than any driver could do manually with a standard manual transmission. That means when downshifting it crosses through neutral but it doesn’t matter, the upshifts need to be quick. Double clutching preserves the synchronizers and having a computer doing this virtually means the least amount of wear possible. Bottom line, it would be very difficult to choose between this and a manual.
I’ve owned 2 e60 m5s. Currently own an m4 and I’m already bored of it after 3 months. I never once got bored of the m5. How can you get bored of that sound..I’m not sure if the 4.4 will give me any joy. I might just sell the m4 and go back to another v10 m
@@ynwa8459 if you have money on the side then buy. I got my first one when I was 21 but it was unreliable as previous owner didn’t take good care. My 2nd one was a 1 owner from the dealer and it didn’t give me a problem for 2 years until I spun the rod bearings. It was around the mileage they spin and I was doing 270km/h on the highway. These are fun cars man I would get a 2008 and up no 06-07
Get low miles if possible! Manual transmission if possible! Also, coupes are a lot lighter. Just make sure the car has had regular oil changes. First thing, change out the thermostat and run redline 5w50 oil!
Hi what was the name of the shop again I kept trying to hear the name correctly but no luck I can use that repair shop since I'm in Michigan if anyone can help I'd appreciate it
If you need any work done, I am in Grand Rapids and the best shop around is Ario Nol on 52nd and eastern. Tell them Jack sent ya! The shop that made the intakes is called Momentum Metal Fabrication. Troy Jeup is the s85 king and the guy who builds all these motors. Best of luck.
AUGUST RUSH in my opinion, 90k miles on an s85 would be like 170k miles on a normal car. But that’s just my opinion :) if they’re well taken care of, they will go long just like any motor! But they definitely scare people lol
Gabriel Cohen yes it’s better in cold because it’s thinner. Only draw back of the 5w-50 opposed time the 10w-60 is that you will burn a little oil in the summer time.
Adam Hasan thanks bud! I have an 08 with 141k, original RBs, running smooth so was curious if i can change to 5w-50. I know many people changed but only after replacing RBs.
Eric Paz no problem. I replaced my rod bearings at 103k. I have 110K miles now. Thats awesome your at 143k original RBs. I would recommend replacing them just for peace of mind
Marco Hernandez honestly man, I don’t know. Wasn’t able to figure out the brand. They were on the car when I bought them. They’re nice 3 piece wheels though
@@jacktheeurocarguy33 it might help but it won’t make the problem go away. Your best bet is to send your oil out to Blackstone for analysis every (or every other) oil change. They can pick up traces of metal in the oil and track wear levels over time to determine when it might be time to replace the bearings. Trust me though, don’t think that the problem will just go away with thinner oil.
@@jacktheeurocarguy33 Apparently making sure the car is really well warmed up before use makes a big diff with the rod bearings. How much have you spent on the car since you bought it?
JM Sobejko where u from I do all the work on these engines I’ll take it out for u and put everything New for a great price if your serious let me no Kingme1444@gmail.com 💪
@@jacktheeurocarguy33 what kind of bullshit is that? There are german cars, bmw-s included, that can be maintained for cheap, and non-germans that can ramp up the bills very fast. A few thousand every now and then? Define every now and then...this car's engine is a ticking time bomb. It's a question of when, and not if, it breaks. And when it breaks, it can easily total the car...so umm, yeah, owning one of these makes no sense whatsoever unless you like to gamble.
Everyone that I know that has owned one has had major engine problems. Great driving cars but pretty garbage mechanically. I wouldn't recommend one of these to anyone who isnt willing to replace the motor as soon as they buy it.
Replace? Maintain more like it. If you know cars and can do a majority of the work I'd have to disagree with your statement. Even if you have to have someone else do the work, for $5K on top of your purchase price (which is way less than the $30k for a new motor) you can prevent catastrophic failure. Also being a horrible owner is a good way to shorten the life of any car.
@@gulgul2006 I'm not saying they aren't amazingly high performing motors, the rod bearings tend to fail though. It's an inherent issue along with vanos failure. I know about these cars pretty well, major failure of either can decimate components which could require a replacement. I'm not saying it will, I'm saying it could, and when you're buying it second hand, which we all are, you have to be ready to drop 10 grand. And if you want to prevent that, tear down the bottom end and address the problem, and rebuild your entire motor. Either way, these are ticking time bombs. Spectacular fun though until they do blow up.
