A hard bread should be used for a wet sandwich, like a French dip. It'll soak up the juice, but still hold together. Otherwise it's for bruschetta or just dipping in oil and vinegar!

Bread tier list video. Sandwiches/Burgers only. Sourdough= best toasty (grilled cheese/patty melt) Martins potato rolls, = best "all round" burger bun. Cubano bread for me seems like the best of everything.

50 years later I still dream about Gonnella bread...2006 W Erie St, Chicago but the best bread in Chicago came from Italian Superior Bakery ...933 S Western Ave, ... Recently closed I believe

When using a baguette for a sandwich, the deli should have cut off the ends (heels) to better expose the crumb, then they should have added more oils or sauces. Warm baguettes also are less chewy. Fresh is best too. While I love a great baguette, it’s probably not my first choice for a sub.

The perfect sandwich bread is the texture of *real* banh mi baguettes, Cubano bread, and Alpine Subs' rolls. It should have just a little chew on the outside to know there's a crust there, but absolutely yield to a bite with no fight.

I prefer soft bread because the hard bread always gets in the way of the sandwich and the soft bread just perfect to sandwiches and plus you can taste the actual sandwich better with soft bread

Agreed! A good Italian sandwich needs to be on Italian bread...which is a little chewier than regular white bread but not the rock hard stuff you guys had. Ouch!

I like a hard bread for a french dip type situation. It soaks in the flavor, softens up, but doesn't become bread soup mush because of it. For a sandwhich like this however..? yea, not the move lol.

Now see, the hard bread would be a deal breaker for me. Bread choice is so important! Nice crust but tender inside is the sweet spot for a sandwich like this.

Not a hard bread dude. toasting bread for a sandwich is even sometimes an L for me (with exceptions of a PB&J or a Grilled Cheese). This Cross section for the dante looks grand, but a softer bread would be a W.

I don't like the hard rolls, it's like ruining a good sandwich with stale bread. When I build a sub at my local deli, I pick sliced sourdough or French bread.
