Revisiting Mayim Bialik... 

Normally, I like your game show content, and I appreciate that you stepped back and talked about this, but I think you got an crucial detail wrong: under the SAG-AFTRA Network Code, Mayim wasn't allowed to strike. Although standing with the WGA can be seen as noble, because she wasn't a writer on Jeopardy, any other contracts superseded the WGA strike. Although most of of SAG-AFTRA also went on strike, that was mostly for scripted shows. Unscripted shows, such as daytime soaps and game shows, were still allowed to operate under the National Code of Fair Practice for Network Television Broadcasting, sometimes shortened as the Network Code. The Network Code had been renewed in 2022 to last two more years. The most recent version of the Network Code I can find is from 2014, and that has a no-striking clause. The 2018 and 2022 revision summaries don't mention this clause removed. There was a rumor released to Puck about Bialik's firing. If all the info is correct, breaching the contract was part of the reason Sony decided to not renew her contract. She allegedly also was given the chance to still host the syndicated version for the rest of the season, which if true, makes it seem like she refuses to do, given her statement. I question the complete validity of the Puck rumor saying she wasn't liked on set though - Mayim allegedly surprised the crew with cupcakes once, which doesn't sound malevolent. However, it seemed to me that her daytime contract wasn't renewed in because she broke it against union rules.

My only real concern was the delay between the contestant’s answer and the host’s acknowledging the correctness of the answer. Ken is lightning fast, Mayim takes just a beat.

Did she have experience before being a game show host? I mean, Richard Karn had no experience before he got the Family Feud gig. But he did a good job.

For me, I always thought Ken should've hosted the tournaments & everything special, along with syndicated shows(Because he can relate, etc). Primetime shows can be hosted by whoever

It was a painful end for Mayim as host of the syndication version but it came with a price for violating the Network Code despite the strikes. Let's see if ABC will continue to hire her for Celebrity Jeopardy! Season 3 despite she made leave of absence in Season 2 of the show and Ken took over her place, especially most of celebrities are from same SAG-AFTRA & respect the Network Code except their show can't be mentioned.

Hey Ben, your game show commentaries are the reason why I am subscribed to your channel and I really liked the one you did on the history of The Chase in America. I remember seeing the original GSN version with Brooke Burns as the host, which I believe is the best iteration of the show in the show's history. I remember Brooke Burns as the host of Dog Eat Dog which used to be on TV when I was a child. Could you give us your review about Dog Eat Dog next please? There were some episodes of Dog Eat Dog that I really loved and I would love to hear what your thoughts on Dog Eat Dog are. Also, just like you, I am a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan and when I heard coach Nick Sirianni yell "SEE YA!" to the fans at Arrowhead Stadium back in November after the Eagles defeated the Chiefs, it reminded me of Brooke Burns saying "SEE YA!" to contestants on Dog Eat Dog that got sent to the Dog Pound. So a Dog Eat Dog review would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
