Episode 6 of our extended weekend getaway aboard our 26’ Regal XO in SW Florida exploring the waters around Pine Island.
We’ve completed our circumnavigation of Pine Island and “cross our wake” at Picnic Island, a small sandbar island popular with local boaters. It’s a windy rough day, but we relax anchored in the lagoon, explore the island and leave our mark.
The island has changed much since Hurricane Ian came through a couple years earlier.
Follow us on this series as we traveled from Cape Coral, through the ICW up Pine Island sound to Cayo Costa, Pelican Bay, Tarpon Lodge, Bokeelia, Matlacha, St James City and finally Picnic Island.
We attempt to visit another restaurant in our next episode. So stick around for the next video!

Nice to see the water back to its normal color after stopping the LK O discharges. I noticed the water in St Lucie county, south of us is looking much better too.Can’t wait to get back over that way sometime this year and this time with our boat!😀

Love the videos. This is totally helping me as our house will be near Pine Island. And your Boat choice is making me reconsider what we will buy as our permanent boat. Our house is behind schedule, but it’s almost done and I’ll be in town next week to view the progress.

There is no such thing as a permanent boat 😆 . I remember saying that about my first boat in 1993. A 19’ Bayliner cuddy. 😂 5 boats ago.

I've never chanced it on the lagoon side, with my sterndrive. I usually go on the opposite side just to be sure. Maybe I'll try it one quiet day!

The approach is the shallowest. Once inside, it deepens.

Love it. Do you guys find yourselves using the Meridian less and less since you moved to Fl and bought the Regal? Up here in the northeast it makes total sense, but down there with all the bars and shallow passes, I would imagine the Regal just makes everything easier and more enjoyable.

For day trips and quick weekends, we go with the regal to get close to beaches, but we use the meridian for sunset cruises with lots of friends and longer trips. Most of our charters also want the meridian even though we go slow.

Retiree Island! Love it! Have you noticed any alligators in the saltier water? They are getting more common here in Texas beaches at Galveston, Freeport and Jamaica Beach.

Never seen an alligator down in SW Cape.
