Decino: "Im not really gonna be live streaming anymore..." Decino, 1 week later: "Greetings everyone, and welcome to 7+ hours of sunlust 100% on nightmare with no damage"
Decino: I'm not really going to be doing a lot of longer and harder mods since I'm going to become a father soon. Also decino: Anyway let's play some Sunlust.
@@krullachief669 agreed. Especially when he said that long form 7-8 hours livestreams are probably not gonna happen. Hey, I'm not complaining. I love these vids and go to sleep listening to em.
I do agree with what you said, I feel like people have specific personal skill cielings in doom (and other things). Which isn't to discount hard work, I think anyone can get good enough to beat most normal wads, and you've definitely gotten a lot better over the years. You absolutely thrashed SOD on fast, for example. But it does feel like there is an asymptote different people have.
My general skill ceiling is UV with double ammo and respawning medkits. Sometimes UV-fast if the wad is an older or easier one. Basically I enjoy a ball busting time if I can kill everything relatively quickly and can make a few minor mistakes.
you can always push through, these ridiculously hard levels arent just about "skill", its about Strats, taking ur time to learn the map, routes, etc. and often times, relying on the strats of previous people who have tried and tested the maps. The only limit is how willing you are to spend hours getting ur butt handed to you.
Your base skills have definately improved since then. But the motivation and/or oportunity to grind out a success will maybe slowly diminish as priorities in real life gradually shift. No shame in that. Congratz on the upcomming fatherhood. Take good care of that little pumpkin!🎃
I played this about a month ago, and watched your sunlust playthrough a long enough enough time before that that I had no recollection of any of the levels, and it was pretty brutal. The level design is exquisite, a blast exploring everything and trying to find the secrets. But man, does it really pick up once you get to Inverti in Darkness. People like you who can single segment that map are just so far above me that it's almost hard to comprehend, and it gets harder from there.
I was curious about the arch-vile on MAP29 that teleports away instantly, so I opened Ultimate Doom Builder to check, but then everything became even more complicated for me. There are four monster closets containing imps, occupying the teleport destinations of the arch-viles. When you press the switch in the main room to trigger the first fight, after several seconds, the imps move slightly on a conveyor belt, and all four arch-viles that teleported into the room now teleport away next to the imps. This was the boring part. Now, what problem have I noticed? One of those imps, for some reason, wakes up when the player walks from the southern part of the main room to the northern part (towards the switch). Interestingly, if you walk from south to north while staying on the west-most side of the room, the imp doesn't wake up. It seems as if there is a linedef triggering something that wakes up the imp, but in fact, there is no linedef at all. The only unusual thing that I could notice about that imp was its position; its X coordinate is 0. And, btw, there is also a chaingunner in another closet, with an X coordinate of 0, and he also wakes up for no reason. I tried to move the imp a bit in Doom Builder, then moved it back saved as a new WAD and that fixed the strange behavior. Maybe the older map editors could have some differences or even bugs, I'm not sure. But at the same time, since this happens to the enemies on X: 0 coordinate, maybe there is another oversight in the engine which could become a topic of a new analytics video. 😋
Hey Decino, I’ve been watching your content since way before Sunlust. I don’t think I’ve missed a stream, analysis, or a play through video yet. Thank you for all of your work. I hope you enjoy being a dad. I also hope you keep up the DOOM content, even if in a reduced capacity. ❤
Oh hey, I had just finished watching your Sunlust playthrough! It's like visiting an old friend. One that gives you a wedgie at any given opportunity...
For their first few months, all of my kids spent 6+ hours of the day sleeping on my lap while I worked/played on the computer. It gave mum a good break and I was very productive. All kids are different, but you might get lucky and find that you have more time than you'd thought.
Started watching the stream, but an hour or so in my mom came down with a cold and fever, so I spent most of the evening nursing her instead - she's feeling better now, but it's a good thing that there are recordings...
Couldn't watch the stream live as I was visiting a friend, but caught a bit of it yesterday night and look forward to watch more of it today. Curious how much gudder you have become!
I remember map 25 as well because of two things: 1. The Midi is from The Incredible Machine 2 and 2. Clever use of the blockmap bug, I remember Coincident realizing that the Cyberdemon is in the middle of a blockmap, hence about half your SSG pellets will miss him
I always think the same thing coming back to Sunlust. If I had fun with it, then it can't be TOO hard, right? Only to be stopped dead in my tracks by map 20 onward, on Hurt Me Plenty.
You didn't get worse. Those maps are just hard. Early Sunlust is hard. Cramped encounters with chaingunners, those lucky pinky bites, and a carousel of revenants constantly firing into the main room, Sol is just a beast early, especially pistol-start. Having no armor for the first three rooms is no joke. That was my first bottle-neck in my UV-Pistol run. Then Neo Geroru, and now I'm working Inverti in Darkness.
@@decinothx for your quick response. HUD looks great! Would you mind sharing it? I think lot of people would be interested. Anyway keep up your awesome work^^
Because of you I'm always returning to play Doom Classic again 🙃🙃 Say, do you know about a program to record and keep the track of every wad, either iwad or custom wads, in terms of completion status? Some kind of database organizer within a program...
How about replaying Swim with the Whales - MAP03 (Ultra-Violence 100%) JUST KIDDING! (partially) but that map is MEAN AF. I bet you're better now though. Also congratulations on your child to be. I have zero doubts of you being a great father.
I know you're being light hearted when you say you never got better/got worse... But you have really improved. I've watched your back catalog quite a bit and you now play with a lot more speed, confidence and aggression. I think you make fights much easier than your conservative campy style (at times), you simply don't notice it. Mainly because you're a very modest person, can't blame you for that.
32.34 nice final fantasy type soundtrack, nice name. 50.12 when I think of a wad with a map called go f urself, I think of sol. Fitting that sol is full of lava.
difficulty also has to do with your approach-mentality before youwere were in 'attack and conquer' the maps mode - this time you are approaching more lackadasically
I played it on Hurt me Plenty and I got my a$$ kicked. After finishing after 10,000 times of dying I decided not to play it more than "Hey not to rough".😂😂
yeah same here, no luck so far whether on PC, mobile app, mobile browser, and with or without being logged in, probably just have to wait a day until the whole video gets processed completely by youtube :)
