All great dressings,! I've always preferred home-made dressings as I can pronounce the ingredients 😉. Quick and easy to make 1 or 2 for weekly prep, use in salads, over roasted veggies, dips if their their thick enough and great for wraps.

I've been using silken tofu for creamy dressing. I use the shelf stable one because the flavor is so neutral. Yesterday I made maple Dijon and "bacon." Another plus to using tofu is it's so low in calories. These dressings were 8 and 12 calories per tablespoon!

Great ideas, a good sauce is crucial when eating simple plant based foods that can be a little bland or boring without. This may sound really weird but I batch cook my oatmeal for the week, so I always have some on hand and have found that adding some to dressings, sauces, and gravies adds thickness, smoothness and body; subbing it for half of a high fat ingredient cuts back on the fat calories if you need to watch them like me; and its also a cheap way of extending other pricier ingredients with little if any sacrifice. Not to mention the added fiber. lol
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants 11 месяцев назад
Wow Char, you are always full of such great ideas! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 The oatmeal hack is awesome... doesn't sound weird at all but I definitely never would have thought of it on my own. I usually sub white beans when I want a little extra fiber or reduced fat.. but I might have to try the oatmeal hack. Thank you!

@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants 11 месяцев назад
Oh no! 😆🙈 I actually found it really encouraging because actually my numbers were quite bad when I first got the scale as well. I think my old scale (non digital) was not very accurate... and when I got this one I finally felt like, ok, now I need to face the TRUTH. Lol! But I definitely get it's not for everyone. 🤗 Yes, I find that sometimes I'm just really missing that oil mouth-feel (sounds weird, but it makes a difference!) so adding just a small amount really helps without altering the calories that much. 😋

I wouldn't suggest using white beans as a substitute for cashews. Especially if you're not vegan and dont know how good vegan food can taste
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants 11 месяцев назад
Well sunflower seeds would probably be the best sub, but I’ve done quite a few replacing cashews for white beans and if you’re looking to cut down on fat or calories it’s actually a great option. 😊

@@LetsEatPlants i wouldn't recommend anything fat free or virtually fat free to a begginer vegan, it usually turns them away from veganism eventually. Also fat soluble vitamins and antioxidants are not absorbed without fat

BMI was never meant to be used as a medical tool. It was created to classify various cultural populations. I.e. Hawaiians vs Europeans, etc. BMI also doesn’t exclude bones, organs, skin, hair, etc. to give a full picture of health.
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants 11 месяцев назад
Interesting! I've heard that it's still used as a measurement, but regardless, there are plenty of other measurements included as well. 😊😊

Yeah like you could be an athletic person with alot of muscle and nearly no body fat, but be classified obese because of your bmi.. But in thise cade your bmi falls in that range from the weight if your muscles not because you have too kuch body fat
@ErdbeereRot
@ErdbeereRot 11 месяцев назад
Well, mustard contains oil, avocado as well. There is no way that your dressings are „oil free” 😂
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants 11 месяцев назад
Hmm... my mustard actually does not contain any oil! Nor have I ever seen one that does actually. 🤔🤔 Maybe double check yours to see... you might be surprised! As for the avocados, they are not considered oil when in their whole state. Fat free no, but oil free yes. 😊 Oil-free in Whole Food Plant Based eating refers to refined oils that remove the "whole" part of the food (i.e. avocado oil) as that removes the fiber and other nutrients.
@bearygoodbeans8169
@bearygoodbeans8169 10 месяцев назад
"Oil-Free" is a bit deceptive eh? Avocados and cashews are high fat, not suitable for people looking for alternatives to high fat. Greetings from Rexdale.
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants 10 месяцев назад
Not really! They *are* oil free. 😊 Many of my viewers are looking for dressings to replace the creaminess of oil in a dressing without using oil, so I wanted to provide that for them. But I also have another oil free dressing recipe video with some low fat options if you want to check it out, just search for let’s eat plants oil free dressings. 😀
