A typical day of eating for us is simple, vegan meals! My husband and I have both been vegan for 5+ years and we rely on easy meals like these. Not to mention when food is prepped and ready to go, it's so much easier to whip something together. 😄

Isn't it just the best breakfast!? 😄😄 Yes! Mixing those up makes it so much easier. I usually add them to our big batch so I don't need to take the jar out every day, but this week I forgot! I also make sure to keep some flax separate for making flax eggs. 😋😋

Love your channel! You are so fun to watch. Keeps me motivated in my own WFPBNO journey. My tip: keep in mind that grinding up flax/chia/hemp up in advance will mean that it oxidizes certain aspects of the nutrients - making it less nutritious.
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants Год назад
Aww thank you! 🤗 I’m glad to hear it helps keep you motivated. Good point about the grinding of seeds! My chia & hemp are whole but I buy flax already pre-ground so not much I can do there. But good for others to know. 😊😊

I eat a similar breakfast but never cook the oats - just soak them overnight in water, top them with ground mixed seeds and soya yogurt, then some berries each day and a little agave nectar but I'm hoping to stop using the agave nectar soon because my sweet tooth is a bit of a problem for me. I call it the Breakfast of Champions! It makes me feel great and my body loves to start the day this way. I should probably add a bit more protein, but I haven't worked out what would fit well with the ingredients I love. Well, I could add some chopped nuts, but there's already enough fat in the meal.... I'm loving what I'm learning about meal prep here, Maddie. I'm sure you're going to help me get a grip on my eating habits, which have gone a bit haywire since I moved house last year and haven't been able to unpack fully yet. I'll get there, but I'm focusing on the kitchen at the moment so I can make sure I sort out my food intake. There is nothing like a wholefood plant-based diet to make my body grateful.
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants Год назад
Oooh love the name Breakfast of Champions! 😃 I'm so glad you're learning a lot and enjoying the videos. It sounds like you've been through a lot, so be gentle on yourself. But I'm sure it will feel _great_ to have the kitchen done. 🥳 You're doing great and meal prep has a learning curve! Just take it on with baby steps and you'll get there. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 And I'm here to help if you need anything!

Great video, many thanks.please can you tell me how you freeze your lemons as I didn’t realise you could, that would be a game changer for me?
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants Год назад
You're welcome! For lemons what I like to do is to juice them all at once (I just use a hand-held juice squeezer like this amzn.to/3MtPaBk) and then just freeze the juice in ice cube trays! You can also zest the lemons first before you squeeze them, and save the zest in a small tupperware in the freezer as well. 🤩 An even simpler method is just to cut the lemons in half and freeze them as halves! But then you'll need to wait for it to thaw a bit before squeezing it, which I why I usually just squeeze them all at once and freeze the juice. 😊

I save time by not washing or chopping my vegetables for salads (and just chopping but not washing them for soups, stews, bowls ect..) lol. I cook all 100% of my cooked food and slice a lot of fruit everyday but I don't have all the time as a working full time student who also forages (and deworms) all my fruit (a few pounds a day) from neighbors. So I use shortcuts. Some may find gross.

Hi Maddie. I love this easy salad. Question. It difficult to find sprouts in my grocery stores. I was wondering if you have some ideas on or a site that I can learn more about doing my own sprouting.

Hi Terry! These are super easy to grow yourself! (I actually grew the ones in this video! 😊) I plan to make a video showing how I grow mine, but in the meantime, I saw this pop up: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0Zw9HbZSgQE.html I would suggest using alfalfa like these: amzn.to/3DlpMIs They're very delicious and similar to what we buy in the store. 😄😄

@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants Год назад
@@terrygrenald8414 You don't have to! Those look very large so would be good for serious sprouters. 😁 I just use jars with cheesecloth over them, but if you want a small set you could use something like this! amzn.to/3HDEKfq It is nice to have the metal/ mesh screen for rinsing the sprouts. 😊

@@terrygrenald8414 Haha never too many questions for me! 😜 I really like Mumm's brand, but I think it's a Canadian brand because I checked for it on US Amazon and couldn't find it. That's the only one I've used, but I would stick with an organic version like this one amzn.to/3DlpMIs I don't think the brand matters too much, I just look for ones that are not too expensive and with good reviews. 😊

Would rather see you skip using a microwave. Thank you for your ideas.
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants Год назад
Interestingly, I used to be very anti-microwave. I grew up without one and never really saw the need. But after hearing Dr. Greger say they’re safe, I started using it occasionally. nutritionfacts.org/video/are-microwaves-safe/ Now I do use it often because it’s just so convenient. That said, all of these things could be done without a microwave! I have meal prep students who reheat their oatmeal on the stovetop and popcorn can be done in an air popper or on the stovetop. So it’s always whatever works best for you. 🤗🤗
@poppyr4639
@poppyr4639 Год назад
As an engineer who works with radio frequencies (which microwaves are a part of), I can vouch for the fact that microwaves are completely safe! They just excite the water molecules in the food and that friction heats up the food (oversimplified explanation lol).
