Really Rock is the closest thing to a normal person in the show next to Benny. But even he has his moments of being an absolute savage and he earns his keep really early on in the show. He even shows how ruthless he can be it's just in a different way than Revy.

Rock and Revy, the ultimate tragic couple: for Rock to exist in the underworld with Revy, he must become like Mr. Chang (using his intellect for total ruthlessness and coldness, completely devoid of humanity and compassion and emotion), which secretly Revy hates, as deep down, as much as she spouts about hating the rich and those with the perfect happy life, she wants that life, but she full well knows she can never have that type of life with Rock, having kids and being a happy normal family, she's just too broken and f'ked up, she's beyond all repair/hope for such happiness and redemption. Revy knows this, and because she LOVES Rock, she wants him to stay in japan, leaving behind the underworld with The Lagoon Company, Hotel Moscow, and she-Revy herself, Revy truly secretly LOVES the kind nice normal hard working formal dressing businessman Rock, but that will all get destroyed if Rock were to stay in the underworld, in order for Rock to survive, and ultimately... thrive... like Mr. Chang (absent the godly combat skills, though Revy provides that, but not even remotely close to Mr. Chang's level, of course), wink wink... for Rock to be with Revy, he must destroy everything that she LOVES about him in the first place, so even if he were to stay with Revy, she wouldn't have any happiness, as he would become everything that she hates, the opposite of everything that causes her to love Rock and be in love with Rock, as much as she would love to be with him for the rest of her life, it just won't work out like that with him living in the underworld, and she can never live with him in the normal world, either likewise, Rock also DOES LOVE Revy, and wants to be with her, which must be in the underworld, as he too knows that she can never live in his normal world, and so, he must change, in order to live and survive (and then thrive) in the underworld, in order to be with his love, Revy, but in doing so, he'll become everything that Revy secretly hates, and she'll no longer love him, as everything that she loves about him, will be destroyed by him being with her in the underworld... so either they both reject their love for each other and go their separate ways or they stay together and destroy their love for each other and destroy both themselves... As also, Rock is fully aware that by being with Revy, she's changing too, as she's in love with him, Revy is becoming much softer (though very slowly and with lots of difficulties, lol, this is Revy we're talking about, she's completely new to this love/romance thing, for her, this is like her first time being in love, like as a teenager experiencing her first "puppy love", lol), and that becoming softer, will get Revy killed... by selfishly wanting to be with his love, Revy, he will kill her indirectly, as she goes soft in her "dreamy eyes" for him... The ultimate tragic romance... the very nature of their love is also what causes their love to never work in the first place... fate is very cruel to these two lovebirds... (Yukio has a similar circumstance as well... she LOVES Ginji and Ginji loves her, which is why she ultimately chose to become the washime clan's new leader, as both she and Ginji have their honor, they can't run away and elope, having kids and live a normal life, as much as they both want to, so Yukio decides to be with Ginji while upholding hers and Ginji's honor, and him likewise too, loving her, doing the same, knowing full well they're both going to die, but at least, Yukio and Ginji will be able to fully enjoy each other finally, in what little time they have left alive on Balalaika's hit list, as she never fails, laughs, well, she only failed one time, but that's a "secret" for now, lol. Yukio chose her tragic fate, Rock is still undecided with his tragic fate, living in the "twilight", but that can never last forever)

Black Lagoon Dub is the only way to watch. What makes this dub different and amazing is how when they go to Japan you actually have people speaking Japanese along with English it just a masterpiece in English Dubbing Revy's English VA goes off it's amazing. I usually just watch subbed one of the few anime I have to watch in English it just makes so much damn sense.

Rock was in charge of the special resources/materials division at his (now ex) company/corporation, so he knows his chemistry (elements, compounds, metals, minerals, and etc), this will have a somewhat minor role later on... -------- so, Dutch, Revy, and Benny are all americans (US), while Rock is obviously japanese (JP) -------- the setting is mostly in and around a fictional criminal underworld city, called "Roanapur", somewhere in SE asia, being the city at the intersection of 3 major trade routes, making it the popular crime underworld city that it is for criminals fighting for control over the 3 trade routes also time-wise, it's basically modern day setting, in the 90s (or late 90s, meh), but before 9-11 in 2001 also, you got the early days of the internet for their tech, as heard by the 'AOL dial-up sound' (bad memories, lol: bzbbzbzzzbzrrnnngng "you got mail", ugh! lol) when Benny connected them to Rock's company ---------- the MC is actually Rock, with Revy as the runner-up ------ While The Lagoon Company will serve anyone who pays for their services (as they're just pirate-mercenaries for hire, that ship/transport goods for profit, “delivery boys who’ll break the law on occasion” as Dutch describes his Lagoon Company very well), Hotel Moscow and Balalaika, pretty much controls/owns The Lagoon Company, as Hotel Moscow is a "good" side to be on (you don't want to be on Hotel Moscow's bad side / as its enemies, lol) and Dutch and Balalaika have some history too... ------ Roanapur is loosely/fragile'ly in a "non-aggression pack" amongst its 5 main controlling/power factions over the city: 1.
