About the "dino, dragon, sea serpent, and wyrm" lock, it's a rex raptor reference. During duelist kingdom and battle city, Rex used dinosaurs as a kind of engine or intermediary strategy, whereas his actual boss monsters were Red Eyes Black Dragon (duelist kingdom) and Serpent Night Dragon (battle city, off screen). As for why Wyrm and Sea Serpent are there, and not just dinos and dragons, it's because the japanese name for Wyrm roughly translates to "Ghost Dragon", and Sea Serpent's japanese name roughly translates to "Sea Dragon". So the Dragon, Sea Serpent, and Wyrm types are basically just different flavors of Dragon-type for flavor/game balance reasons. Which makes the transcendrake restriction read more like "Dinos and Dragons", just like Rex's original deck building.
Land (Dino), Sea (Serpent), Sky (Dragon), and...Ghost (Wyrm)? Maybe we can get a new Five-Headed Dragon that fuses all of these Dragon class monsters, but we'd just need one more type, preferably a machine hybrid type, but Rare Metal Dragon, REDMD/REFMD/Darkness Metal, and Rokkets are Dragons, and Metal Dragon, REBMD, Barrel Dragon and Cyber Dragon are Machines, so is it too late? Wyvern? Or maybe a Fire-type known as Drakes?
3:23 The kanji "竜" (as opposed to "龍") is used in reference to both Eastern and Western dragons, as 竜 is the Japanese simplification of 龍. (龍 is purely for Eastern dragons.) However, "竜" is is used in the Japanese word for dinosaur (恐竜, "kyouryū", "fearsome dragon"), the Japanese names of the Wyrm (幻竜, "genryū", "phantom dragon"), and Sea Serpent types (海竜, "kairyū", "sea dragon"). The Dragon type is written in katakana (foreign words and onomatopoeias) (ドラゴン, "doragon") though.
Transcendrake is a phenomenal extender engine for Dino, and means 2 things: first, you can run more baby Dinos without bricking on them, and second, you can recycle Miscellaneosaurus. Also, it's really fun to blow up the Synchro as cost for extension, then summon it back for its protection effects.
Half surprised that the other Dino cards didnt get a mention here. A continuous spell that let's you normal a level 5+ dinos free, the new King Rex retrains, and Transcendral Evo Pill Beta being another way to get your cards on board with the caveat of not being able to revive, all of which seem great for the theme imo!
@@cameronmapes Oh I’ve played Dino, this isn’t an archetype is my point. You can literally take the name of Transcendrake off the cards and they still function as what they are, generic dinosaur support. This should be coming out in a side set or core set, not a deck build pack. Every build pack has had enough cards to function as a standalone deck, for better or worse.
I mean this is a good change. Dinomorphia and Dinowrestler is a Dinosaur archetype and I fuckin hate it. I'd take a dino generic supports all day at this point Playing Dino never been this good since 2017, when True King Dino Yan Zing is reign supreme
@@Drethera Oh I don’t mind the fact it’s generic in the slightest, go for it. What I mind is what has up until this set style, three new archetypes with some generic support, now has two full archetypes and a generic support under the guise of being an archetype. I’m just worried this will set some sort of precedent that Konami won’t put as much effort into it anymore. They also could have taken the time to craft a good dino archetype, which would have been amaz-balls
Anyone else notice the Transcendrake Monster have a total 2000 more stats than the original counterparts? Gigantozowler - 2000 ATK Glacesaurus - 1000 ATK/DEF Drillgnathus - 500 ATK/1500 DEF Just saying, it’s a neat detail.
I'm willing to believe Transcendrakes are from the Galar Region because they give off some serious Gigantamax energy, ready to battle like in Galar's Darkest Days.
In the past few weeks with them in the ocg, scrap raptor and lytho engines are literally removed due to the popping targets are more diverse and popping in hand is more consistent. I love it
You can use the oviraptor into scrap raptor which special summons xeno so you can do the scrap line and make avramax or apolousa then make any of the transcendrakes and a rank four or synchro as a bonus because the scrap line always has two level 4 monsters at the end
10:06 instead of sabersarus and kabazaul go for two-headed king rex and crawling dragon #2 because they are fusion material for bracchio-raidus a level 6 dino fusion monster and submareed tour ride is a must because its a level 6 dino that special summons itself if you control any normal monster.
4:40 So not only can you chain block the baby effect you actually don't have a choice. The baby Dinos are mandatory so they have to go on CL1 if you don't have another mandatory trigger.
DINO BEST DECK (but the 2 card combo of ground xeno and baby makes a Borrswor and a borelload Savage with 2 negates and UCT AND BABY IN HAND DUE TO ZOWLER
Oh Crap! Hazy Flame Hydra! Now that’s a Tech Card that can be Abused! Get this, even though it has a causes that forces you to special summon only “Fire Monsters”, it’s XYZ utility effect gives you this little gem :) An XYZ monster that Summoned using this card as an XYZ material, gains this effect: “When this Monster is XYZ Summoned, Target 1 Hazy Flame Monster in your Grave and attach it to this card as Material!” Remember when Basilitrice was a Threat?! Well not only is Hazy Flame Hydra a 2300 atk Dinosaur Monster, but when it Becomes XYZ material, it can be used to Grab a copy of Itself out the Grave! This is Marvelous! So that Means Transcendrake can start grabbing Banished Monsters back to recycle into more field pressure to really hone that Beatdown Energy! God this Deck is gonna get crazy with the potential to Wreck Face!
This is pretty mid. Something called transcendrakes and being apart of the deck build pack should’ve meant it was an archetype but NOOO it’s just more for the good stuff deck
Possibly the most disappointed I've ever been for a Deck Build Pack theme, tbh. A little-bit-of-everything Dino deck sounded so cool, but the fact that it was little more than glorified Dino support set the precedent for the rest of Wild Survivors. Shame.
