Im guessing the only reason komodo was able to tank shrinking ray enlarging herself was because his body is much more bigger than her normal body if she had the ability to become giant like antman perhaps it would’ve been a different outcome?
Damn the lizard league is terrifying when they aren’t fighting S tier superheroes. They were only seen as a joke because Omni Man and Immortal beat their asses every time, it’s like fighting a boss that’s like a thousand levels above you. As soon as invincible and immortal get back, the league is fucked. Edit: REX WITH THE CLUTCH OH MY GOD
@@laughslapproductions4690Batman has armor and is peak human,Rex is literally just a dude, like not even a olypiman 0:19 dude, just a regular ass kinda buff man
@@finchatforharambe905 he’s like a less powerful gambit from xmen. Yeah Batman could have at least escaped or evaded them better. Think Rex is slightly buffed/stronger than regular humans but not much
If Rex survives this, he is most definitely getting PTSD, for a moment, he was right where the original Guardians of the Globe were, watching as each member be killed horrifically.
In the comics, Rex is shot fatally in the head. but through sheer willpower and adrenaline, he kept on fighting until all the villains were dead. He then quickly recovered and tons of cybernetic implants.
They also seriously underestimated them. They went in with no real plan at all other then they'd just fight them and win. The real problem was the big guy, if he hadn't eaten Rex's hand and blew his own head up Rex would have been fucked. They should have had some back up from Cecil with a few soldiers with them.
After Battle Beast, you'd think the Guardians would've learned not to underestimate their villains for anything. There were so many tactical errors here.😨
@laucha1615 well the first one is sending all three of them to deal with the lizard League when two of them only have moderately enhanced strength and one of them doesn't even have increased strength at all. The second one is not sending other Heroes as reinforcements. We know from the trials that there are dozens of other Heroes that are still on Earth so a few of them could have been useful.
@@laucha1615 Sure. 1. They went in guns blazing without a plan. They should've used Rae's shrinking ability to scope the situation and get a feel for what they were dealing with. Knowing what happened with Battle Beast not gaging your opponent is a serious mistake. 2. Also blowing their element of surprise. 3. They only had three members. Kate has her duplicate powers, but those aren't very reliable against someone who can kill as many as she can reproduce. Rae isn't strong despite her size changing. And Rex is fighting in an enclosed space with powers better suited for long-range attacks. 4. Ideally, they would've picked off the villains one by one to better even the odds. 5.They failed to coordinate their powers as a team to keep the villains off balance. 6.They gravely underestimated their opponents. Sure they are mostly seen as jokes, but the big is shown to go toe-to-toe with the O.G Guardians. They mostly did one one-on-ones. 7. Once things hit the fan they got disorganized and reckless making costly decisions.
I believe that Reanimen can only see other reanimen as friendlies. The rest are all hostiles. That’s why They are always deployed only with other reanimen.
Shoutout to Rex, he went from petty to standing on BUSINESS while panicking and in denial at the same time, and supposedly he gets better (if he still makes it through this)
how bout when Rae died? That was way more brutal and evil, even more so considering in the comics, (male) rae's death in the same manner didn't have half that brutality.
"I thought these guys were supposed to suck" they do but so do you. You do realize with the rest of the guardians gone they left the weakest heroes behind right?
To be fair the threat they sent the heavy hitters to was the flood. And not only are Rex, Rae and Kate the only heroes with no defense against the not flood taking over their minds and their powers would all be fucking terrifying in sequid hands. Everything is now a bomb, we now have infinate hosts, we can shrink and infect your cells.
that was also before the new king lizard dude showed up. it's supposed to be clear to us that the first leader was inept, but this guy actually knows what he's doing, at least somewhat.
no one ever talks about how rex has supernatural reflexes and superhuman strength and is durable to withstand lethal injuries. The sharp claws from that lizard chick penetrated Kevlar armor on that one soldier in the beginning and when she struck him, he survived.
@@FC_mania i remember seeing a video of some dude trying to carjack someone, he gets hit by a car and loses his arm, then runs over, picks it up, and runs off like he *didn't* just lose an arm like a lego piece. adrenaline is *serious*
iirc Rex was given drugs that made his muscles and other tissues 7 times stronger than those of peak athletes. It seems little when compared to the likes of Immortal, but he can take damage that would kill a normal human many times over.
Fun Comic Fact: The Kate that “died” was just a clone, the original was smart enough to copy herself and have the original live out in the mountains so she couldn’t die.
@@DaWhisperwhat they’re saying is based on the comics, there’s a chance it doesn’t even happen in the show, take it as a saving grace that it’s not exact yet.
@@DaWhisper Bro, I got spoiled by RU-vid shorts before season 2 was even a thing. We’re talking about 2 months after season 1 ended. Yeah, try relaxing at your home when all your RU-vid feed is Invincible comic spoilers. BTW Mark gets raped and didn’t fully fight back, bro initially fought back but then let it happen.
It's Shrinking Rae, and how is it on Cecil if 3 members of the guardians of the globe couldn't handle a few lizards? They made fun of fight force for being defeated by the lizard league but look at them.
@alpha5664 its obvious they kept a list of lizard members in the lizard league and should have known the potential danger they pose plus the lizard league are veterans during their crusade against the original GOG so sending a bunch of GOG teens against is stupid. They are not even teen titans for crying out loud.
@@alpha5664 so it is a girl that can shrink, one that can duplicate, and a dude whose superpower is to joke 24/7 for morale boost i guess(his actual superpower is having negative rizz and still getting laid) they all spund like support units tbh. it is like starting a battle without any of your tanks or DPS but with the taunters and illusionists lmao
@@btchiaintkidding7837 I mean tbf Lizard league was a literal joke. They were villain of the weak stuff so how was he supposed to know this would happen? The Martian threat is serious and could result in the deaths of the entire human population
The way shrinking ray died was the most brutal shit ive seen in a while. After years of seeing fucked up shit thinking I am now immune to seeing something like this I did not expect to still see stuff that could disturb me like this.
In the comic her male counterpart, Shrinking Ray just got swallowed, no growing back nothing, just getting swallowed by komodo dragon that's it. Never expected to see them add more to it tbh
@@UnwantedGhost1-anz25 It is clear to me. How thw fuck one girl being thrown against a screen tears up her body in half? Sometimes this show is just pure bullshit. If anything can obliterate somebody, the violence itself loses the shock
Cecil - "Mmmmh we have a problem with some human lizards, I will send these 3, surely they will suffice." after the mission Cecil - "Mmh. WELP time to find some replacements"
Not even his origin story, which is pretty metal too, we’ll likely see it in an episode like the one Eve got before this season in between the end of this one and the start of the next one, Rex briefly alludes to some of it during his scene with Eve
she is. she has a kid with the immortal who ends up being way overpowered. kate was always limited but i think she gets upgraded after this... this however gets immortal to commit.@@valentinov901
This really was just Rex vs all of them. He is crazy durable if he can take punches from komodo dragon like that. He actually might have had a better chance by himself since then he could have been more reckless with his explosions and just blown up the whole room.
@@finchatforharambe905No. Rex has enhanced durability. Remember when he was being pummeled by Monster Girl? Well, I can certainly tell you not many other heroes on Earth would have survived. Some wounds will prove fatal, but it's a greater risk to quite a few others than it is for him. Just so we're clear, Rex isn't as durable as the Immortal, certainly not in the same league as a viltrumite, but enemies will have to work harder to kill Rex than you'd think.
Rex is pretty strong he is the strongest of the weaker guardians hes not as strong as immortal, monster girl, bulletproof etc he is no pushover tho and couldve beat them easier alone cuz he wouldve just spammed explosions.
The SOUND is so horrific The last scream from Kate and the muffled sounds of Rae being suffocated and crushed (also what sounds like screams as she was partially chewed up, easy to overlook but she was probably in ROUGH shape before she grew back) Terrible, just awful, fantastically done lmao
Rae in the comics died much quicker, he was just straight up chewed up if I remember correctly. But still slightly chewed then crushed with a good hard internal flex while probably suffocating......not good.
I understand due to the stress of the situation she wasn’t able to think but she really could have shrinked, grow, then shrink again and escape out of the eye or mouth of the big guy as opposed to just staying grown while being suffocated.
Grey DeLisle as always did a fucking phenomenal job voicing Shrinking Rae's death with strained effort and gurgling while probably drowning in her own blood and exhaustion as she struggles
Jason Mantzoukas brought his A game when portraying the chaotic mix of emotions Rex was going through after he killed Komodo Dragon and thought it was all over. The manic rush or adrenaline, the relief, the pain from his injuries, and the grief and sadness of watching his friends die in front of him
@@Yuxxy420 he doesn't get enough props and I believe him and Ben Schwartz are in a similar category of hidden gems in the voice acting community. They have these sleeper build where they just unexpectedly knock it outta the park with their performances.
@@leeroyjenkins7325 They're doing a really good job of building Cecil up to be that kind of character, this is a world full of heroes as the tryouts showed. He probably sees them as assets, but most of them replaceable ones that the has to keep track of.
@@ProfessorHeavy1 Um, by that kind of character to do you mean "stupid"? The Lizard League is not some kind of unknown variable and you could reasonably foresee remaining Guardians struggling against them. They really should have established a pool of "reserve" members to call upon in situations like this.
Everybody thought the Lizard league was a joke, so did Cecil. And Rex made fun of a team for losing against the lizard league so who would have thought.
this was how to do G0REY de@ths well in a fight. i think the key thing here is both de@ths of Kate and Shrink girl is kinda predictable conceptually but still has a bunch of Micro-subversions.
Well duplikate is most definitely still alive. She probably has a clone(s) hanging around throughout the world absorbing experience and information to return to her. Or a clone chilling at the base.
I was just thinking that. Or, carry a blade with her. Like Kratos did to Cronos. Obviously not the actual size of the Blade Of Olympus, but maybe a katana or something of that size.
If Rex had gone alone with orders to just blow up the joint, this could have been avoided. Invincible does an amazing job of showing the insane consequences of tactical errors.
@@smittyvanjagermanjenson182 I stand by what I said, Cecil was calling the shots and had no trouble wasting millions of taxpayer dollars to teleport himself around. Blowing up a military base is probably something he could get away with.
@@JarvisBaileyVAthe military base also had nuclear bombs stored in it, plus cecil is one for accepting losses but not unnecessary ones, as far as he and everyone else was concerned the lizard league was some d list villain team that could be easily dealt with
@@gallowglass3764 Yeah, true. But for the most part it seemed like Nolan wasn't taking them seriously until they actually brought him to the ground. Where he then quickly killed them all.
Fuck me, Rex is not only going to feel shit for causing the death of two people due to his lack of urgency, but failed to realize him fucking around all the time just got two people he was close to killed. They needed a leader and they got a clown. Rae and Kate didn’t deserve to go out like that yo, they were goated.
They all had a lack of urgency. They knew who Rex was if they wanted to come up with a plan they would’ve. They chose not too because they believed just as much as Rex the lizard league sucked. They all made grave mistakes in their judgments and picking who too fight. Which is why ray died
I'm convincing myself that the Invincible series is just a compilation of things that superheros could do according to who watches the movies, but actually can't do because of physics 😅... It's basically the animation of The Boys and that's why it's so good
The sheer panic in his voice when he realises what he's gotten himself into and that laugh thinking he's took them all out which turns into a groan over his hand were great too, like the adrenaline wore off. I'm genuinely suprised at how good the voice work was here, I knew Jason was a great actor like in B99 but I didn't think he'd be a great VA
hate to be that guy rn, but in the comic, this also happens and Rae didn't even get to fight and try and get out. The show added her trying to get out but idk, I guess the acid in that lizard's body was too much or something, idk how else he resisted Rae expanding and imploding his entire body from the inside.
I agree she was awesome and didn't deserve this, and hell, the show made her alot better than the comic, where her gender is different and she feels more minor.
Holy shit. Shrinking Rae probably had a worse death than Shrinking Ray in the comics. I think Ray was like bitten in half but here she is eaten then crushed to death. Edit: Yep, Rae had a far worse death than Ray did. I both love and hate that, holy shit this was brutal.
This was absolutely brutal to watch. That big guy was a straight up menace killing Kate and Rae like that , and literally biting off Rex's hand. Btw 0:18 that shot alone has some serious meme potential
@@orderflowarchives I mean one of them can turn into a one person army. In fact, her brother demonstrates how effective this power is. He usually makes like 70 clones to fight someone
The most guesome thing I find about Rae’s death, was that the guy she was inside is now carrying a crushed corpse inside him and has no way of removing it. Plus she could have suffocated to death during her attempt of tearing her way out of him. 🤢
Well his heads blown off now so I doubt he will get the opportunity to remove the corpse. Besides I am sure if he survived he would have just digested her.
1:48 funni how in the show they make kate being able to make komodo dragon bleed, well i think that just make the lizard league more suck now isnt it?(i know it the show adaption but just saying)
I don't mind the added intensity. If it went down like it did in the comics it would just be very disappointing. Kirkman wanted to make some improvements this time around and this was one of them.
clearly meant as a curveball especially if you're a comic reader. This is canonically a death that is never looked into again. Ray dies, they have the funerals, and that's it.
I'm just gonna say that Antman never would've gone down like that. He could've used the Pym particle to shrink the big down or become giant man putting him across the globe.
Well, Rae isn't Ant-Man. As far as I remember, she can only shrink herself. So if Ant-Man didn't have Pym particles/the ability to be giant, he'd have been out the exact same way.
Idk why but I find it so funny how this dude screamed “Jesus!” as his hand was getting eaten lol. This man is funny even when he’s in a situation as fucked up as this
If y’all wondering how they lost to them even tho they beat them multiple times is because they had the immortal, monster girl and robot there brain and muscle was not there to help them at all Cecil was dumb not to have monster girl or black Samson to stay behind to help them
Either rex still process what just happen after the first slice. He still trying to block what happen till the continue slicing on him till it finally kicks in he just lost two of his team mates and was in pure survival mode
Its a beautifully written part of the show. You'd think these guys would've been enough to handle The Lizard League, but no. Kate gets smushed, Ray dies the worst way, and Rex... god I see him in a new light now. What an absolute chad, to beaten up, your hand eaten, and then shot in the head only to get back up to finish the job.
dude Rae literally broke commodos spinde ribcage destroyed heart as well as lungs, his insides were all smashed but commodo just survived it cuz bad writing... this death was doumb
Now I know how to handle against duplicators and size reducers, truly comics and cartoons really do teach you the dos and don’ts of metahuman counters.
@@Ezal-kl4lr tbf we don't know if doing that was fatal or not for him. he very well could have accidentally stabbed one of his organs with his or rae's bones while doing the garbage compactor move
Jesus Christ, Rae's death was one of the most brutal sounding deaths in the entire series. I think the only worse one was like the fast guy in the first season.
Can we just take a moment to say how much Jason Mantzoukas has evolved as the voice for Rex since last season? Seriously, those screams he made when his hand got bit off were BLOOD-CURDLING. This is the voice acting that we need right now!! God bless the creators of this masterpiece…
If I’m honest I’m amazed that we get shows like this that aren’t afraid to show gore trough its content. It’s a relief since well.. most shows now days are terrified of “upsetting” certain people. I’m from 2003 and man I remember that there was like NO FILTER at all.. and it was fucking awesome, I loved that there was no fear to show nudity, sex, blood, etc.. I loved those times, and nowadays I’m starting to see many shows doing it and it just fills my hearth. Well but changing topic this shit was BRUTAL.
Love hearing stuff like that when there's literally always been a filter on stuff like that. The OG ninja turtles literally took away Mikey's nunchucks because they were too violent and the animated Spider-Man show wasn't even allowed to show Spider-Man punching someone
Rex goes "Kate, let's switch!" And everybody survives. Komodo is a brick wall, without a strong offense you're just annoying him. But Rex could do real damage or at least stall him longer. Salamander and Iguana are not much of a threat alone.
Theory: Cecil thought of them as the lowest ranking guardians and wanted them removed to make room for higher skill. Outright removing them from the team would raise eyebrows, they had their good traits. If they die like heroes, very few would question his decision as it was an apocalyptic emergency. As I say this now, I personally think Rex was rescued by Cecil. Rex took out most of the team with a hand lost and some flesh wounds. That can be fixed. If Cecil had the nuts to face Omni man with just a gun just to buy time, i can see him saving Rex from a bullet. Though I can also see him letting Rex get unalived, but that wouldn’t be maximizing the teams value. Losing Kate and Rae should harden his resolve a bit.
oh they're so gonna do that "fake out gunshot" cliche where the audience thinks rex got shot but a few seconds later it would pan to the lizard dude who got shot.
They never took anything seriously! Not training, not the danger and there was always someone to pick up the slack in the team. And that episode showed it
Shrinking Rae's death sparked some primal fear in me. Just being chewed alive and then crushed inside someone fucked me up for a while. One of the hardest and scariest deaths I can imagine.
I love Rex’s laugh at the end. It shows he still hasn’t lost his spirit even after the worst five minutes of his life. It also has the perfect blend of agony as well.
Shrinking Rae's last words shouldve paid homeage to a great line "I hope you choke on me" -Magneto (as he is being eaten alive by zombified heroes in "Marvel zombies"
Yeah I was hoping mark would let them kill shapeshifter too and I think that whooping from monster girl in first season had something to do with him not going for the big guy first maybe
The way Shrinking Rae uses her power implies that her shrinking ability doesn't possess the same mass-changing properties that the Pym Particles provides, besides the obvious size changing, for those who use them. She never strikes when she's tiny, add the fact that she can only grow back no bigger than her regular size.
Rex was in full survival mode and soloed three members one with his hand bitten off and a hole in his head. “You know me, I’m practically [title card]”
