So I’m not sure where the theory comes from, but to answer your question, the parasite never erases his memory, and creates this fake world to get him into a calmer state for five years. The parasite probably released him because Mark began to miss his real family, and could have perhaps gotten out if he really tired to. (Ignore the fact that the author said it was to poke fun at other comic books doing series reboots) lol

@@zkoogolat Temporary in a sense but permanent in another. If they have time travel they could drop his head off in another timeline so its impossible to reattach without outside help.

@@GmanMusic12 that does kind of make sense, but I feel like you’d see more of a gradual decline in the centuries leading up to it rather than a seemingly sudden “oops I’ve gone insane now.” Though, maybe you could argue that there are some hints about it in the story beforehand.

Basically every loss just stacks up on him, and I think he even remarks about this after the Guardians die, that he just doesn't want to get close to people anymore. He's already prone to emotional outbursts and losing control of his temper. My guess would be is he was already at his limit, and after Kate goes he just has no desire to keep going or start new relationships. He feels trapped by his immortality, and he can never escape his grief. Could drive a lot of people mad after a couple hundred years of wanting to not be alive anymore. What he should have did is find himself a nice Viltrumite girl, that way he could get a few thousand years between each tragic loss at least.

One of the Evil Invincibles crushes their Immortals head to paste and says "Immortal your way out of that" Maybe theoretically it would be possible to revive him assuming you found all the brain matter but highly unlikely especially since no one else besides he and Omniman saw it.

Immortal is actually pretty high up in the universe tier list. He can still hurt a viltrumite and during the viltrumite war is part of the fighting so he can fight and beat some of them. His handicaps are memory loss which causes him to forget the centuries of training he has done, and his emotional instability.

reminder that Omni man is an extremely high level viltrumite and Invincible is also very strong on his own. Immortal definitely would've killed thula.
