People are confused with artistic ownership verses actual ownership of the item. My grandma could have a neclace past down from generation to generation. She was the original owner, but once it's past on, a new owner has it. Rey has the lightsaber, so she owns it's. Simple. Dead people can't own things. Simple as that
You are correcting em like if they chose to call it that, please go and schedule a meeting with Disney executives and tell them that so they can change it
It's Anakin's lightsaber, not Rey's, not Lukes. Luke's lightsaber is the one he built in RotJ, and Rey hasn't actually built her own yet, so she's using the one Anakin built during the Clone Wars. Once Rey actually builds her own instead of duct taping Anakin's lightsaber together, then she'll have one to officially call her own.
the mom: ok sweetie which one do you want? the kid: yay! ill take anakins saber the mom: *sees label* the mom: ok we’ll take REYS lightsaver the kid: this is outrageous, mom. it’s unfair
For all who say it's Rey' s light saber. In rise of Skywalker say says to Leia 'I will learn to use your brothers light saber'. So even she recognises that it doesn't belong to her.
@@natanyafriedman8674 that's really still up for debate a little bit. Most people will say that its anakins. But then like a hand-me-down set of pants are they your pants or the persons it was originally?
Jacob Campbell well lets first say everything in the sequels should be ignored because of how horrible and dogshit everything is. And it’s anakins saber. He built the hilt. And bonded with the crystal inside it. Just because a painters artwork is put into a museum doesnt mean someone would call it the museums artwork. Because no, its the original painters.
@@Westbrook__ true. But commissioned pieces by artists belong to the commissioner. And a painter still sells their work so tho its a painting they did the buyer is still the owner. But neither Luke nor rey bought the saber so its a poor corrolation
The saber has a different design in each movie it appears in. The saber Disney sells is based on the sequel trilogy which is why they call it Rey's and not Anakin's or Luke's
Oh.... when I saw that at Galaxy's Edge.... that they label Anakin's as Rey's.... I internally lost my shit.... I went on to Buy 3 of the legacy Lightsabers for collection Vader's, Luke's, and Anakin's. And I REFUSED to call it "Rey's"...
@@brooksbrooks6805 So i take it they had them all in stock? I'm heading there for NYE & 1st Jan and worried they won't have Vaders in stock as im hearing they frequently sell out.
It hurts a little bit, because it’s truly the Skywalker saber. But Rey is in possession of it when it’s in this specific configuration, and that’s what Disney calls it so 🤷🏻♂️
anakin never use it based on movies.only ben told so.its luke saber new user is rey and its his saber after fix it, but this not rey saber they show lol
@@tylersakul2633 I agree that the creator owns it but jedi and sith that lost it or has multiple (Ahsoka is the best example of losing one and then also having multiple blades) can have more than one
Jarednet1 yes that’s kinda what I’m saying. or what I meant was whoever built the saber and bonded with its crystal is the true owner. the blue saber shown in ep 4 and ep 7 was reys and Luke’s version of Anakins saber if that makes any sense
I hope you all realize that the reason they named this Rey's lightsaber is because it has minor cosmetic changes from anakin's as well as Luke's version. It is just an easier way to explain each different iteration of Anakins lightsaber
I'm pretty sure she does know. Or rather, sensed it. In the storage cellar at Takodana, she touched it, and was flooded with input. We saw an audio-visual representation of what she experienced, but Rey's reaction and aversion to it has me thinking she felt something of its origin and frightening use at the hands of a newly fallen Anakin Skywalker as well.
1.) Dead people can't OWN things. 2.) For those who don't know, the prop that Hayden used in 'RoTS' was very different from the props which were used in the O.T., and the sequels. The original (and sequel) props were all made from modified vintage Graflex camera flash handles, which were made of relatively light nickel plated brass. Hayden's prop, or the "Skinnyflex" (it was made thinner, for easier spinning/tricking) was fabricated from scratch, using much heavier chrome plated steel, and there are also significant differences in the detailing. So, from a merchandising standpoint, it makes a lot of sense to label them by which character was in possession of the saber at the time that the prop was produced (there are at least five different configurations now). If you were to order an 'Anakin' saber, the prop you would receive would be very different than the versions that both Luke, and Rey had/have.. We all know that Anakin built it, and that he was the first owner (key word: 'Owner'), but as I said before, dead people cannot OWN things.
@@AeratedLawn It's Luke's saber to me, always will be. They just don't want her name attached to it because those movies sucked. I don't really care, but I don't blame them.
If we follow logic that it MUST belong to anakin: - r2d2 belongs to the naboo government - c3p0 belongs to anakin/vader - han's dl44 belongs to tobias beckett - the millennium falcon belongs to whover owned it before lando or han, as seen in episode 3 Seriously, just because you dislike the sequels, doesnt mean you have to argue about everything related to them.
Thanks for this video. I was just at SWGE and bought the legacy saber and then saw the Disney Parks version in the shop and was wondering if I made the right choice. I now know I did. I'm sure they will eventually sell different stands and wall mounts.
Well it's broken now so technically she no longer has a lightsaber. But yes. It was hers. Hopefully we'll get to see her build a new one. I'm excited to see what it would look like.
There are now 3 kylo ren removable blade lightsabers. There's that disney parks one, the legacy lightsaber, and the new force fx elite. It'd be really cool if you guys do a comparison video, and see which is the best
David Hidekazu yes! we honestly want them all and already have thoughts on which one we’d prefer. If we manage to get our hands on all 3, we’ll definitely do that comparison!
The Elite saber is a more tech advanced fx that will make the other 2 look crappy.. it features 16 additional LEDS in the blade for a brighter and more smoother transition from activation to deactivation, flash on clash, blaster deflect and Blade lock. Features common to custom sabers but brand new to licensed sabers. If you can pay $300 no problem I would tell you to skip the video and just buy the Elite version.
Theoretically, Luke having used this lightsaber in 1977, it’s his. But in lore, Anakin crafted it, and it’s his. Not Luke’s, his Lightsaber is seen in RoTJ, and not Rey’s, she made hers in TRoS.
@@DylanoTheWizard what law? She didn't purchase it from Maz. Technically, It's a Skywalker family heirloom. The only was it can be Rey's lightsaber officially is if Leia (the last living Skywalker) passes it on to her.
Wish it had the small little window section at the emitter where you could see the blade through it like in the original black series rey version but still really glad they fixed the box being at a weird angle. Hope we eventually get an "elite" version of this saber like what they're doing with kylo that includes the extra effects ect..
Sea ray never built this and Rey built her own light saber did you not watch the last movie that you are trying to defend because yes it is mannikins and Rey does not even consider it hers she has already made her own light saber and there’s another problem just because someone disagrees with you it’s not mean that they’re misogynistic or that they’re women haters what they are doing is making criticisms but you guys can’t take any criticism because you immediately say that they’re women haters say technically if you’re saying that it’s not arrogance you’re technically being a man hater in your eyes see how stupid it sounds you’re the baby in the situation
Not going to call it Rey's lightsaber because I want to pretend that the sequel trilogy never happened. I just hate how they try to change history and make her the chosen one. Anakin is the true chosen one.
Fantastic review. Thank you guys. I've no idea why Disney does such redundant "variations" which mainly consist of discrepancies and, well, making life difficult for fans...
It's a disgrace that Disney calls this "Rey's Lightsaber." For that matter the Disney "Star Wars" films are a disgrace, so... Anyway, it's nice to see the differences between the two Anakin lightsabers.
Dreaklock I don’t like Disney as a company, but this is the worst possible reason to be mad at them. Rey used it in the new movies, of course they are going to market it as Rey’s lightsaber. Disney doesn’t care about Star Wars lore, they care about making money. No reason to complain about it in the comments.
@@mikebricks1789 yeah but most people agree with this person if a bunch of people say that they should change something then they have to ask should they change it with their executives but that’s not gonna work because the executives will just say that we’re women haters and that is the screwed up Disney-Star Wars situation
Great video on the comparison of the 2 lightsaber. This past April I was in Hollywood Studios in Florida. I purchased the Luke Skywalker Legacy Lightsaber. It’s one of the most authentic lightsabers out there. Since your video. They sell the complete package meaning hilt, blade, stand, clip and blade plug. The only difference is the box is much larger lol.
It says "Rey's lightsaber" on the packaging. Would have been weird if it was called "Anakin's" with picture of Rey on it. It's pretty simple - ROTS/Anakin; ANH,ESB/Luke; TFA,TLJ/Rey.
People are confused with artistic ownership verses actual ownership of the item. My grandma could have a neclace past down from generation to generation. She was the original owner, but once it's past on, a new owner has it. Rey has the lightsaber, so she owns it's. Simple. Dead people can't own things. Simple as that
Fraser Souris true but it was not passed down, it was stolen. If you stole your grandmothers necklace, then in my point of view it is hers still. She may die and not be able to do anything about it, but it’s always hers. Something being given and something being stolen don’t have the same (ownership?) idk how to say it but do you get the point I’m trying to make?
@@ray-lr4xj We know Anakin was cool with Luke having his Lightsaber so Luke became the new owner. Luke then discarded the Saber when Rey presented it to him, meaning he gave up being the owner, making Rey the owner
Fraser Souris anakin never gave luke the saber or said it was okay. Anakin had it taken from him by obi-wan, then the next time he saw it he cut Luke’s hand off.
Apparently the reason why the slider is off 30’ degrees is because this is based off “the last jedi” movie version, so if you love that movie that’s pretty cool i guess, unique in its own right
Hello, first time viewer here. I purchased the Legacy Saber labeled Luke Skywalker during the second week Galaxy’s Edge opened. Bought two blades just in case one breaks. I learned a lot from your video. Good thing I put off purchasing the parks exclusive four months and wait and see what Galaxy’s Edge had to offer. -‘Til the spires.
The saber began with Anakin, therefore it is his. Rey has a lightsaber of her very own, shown in TRoS (and also a folding double blade saber). I wish the marketing department had thought about that before declaring Anakin's saber as Rey's, because that's simply not true.
So, yes. This video is two years old. BUT I just watched it because I picked up the ShopDisney Legacy Luke saber set. They combined the best of both kits together in one package. The ESB hilt, 31" interchangeable blade, plug, belt clip and stand used in the Rey exclusive set. The price is $219, but I feel it's worth it. Best saber purchase so far, next to the build your own at Savi's.
I think you dont understand inheritance or the law. But tbh the saber changes from movie to movie, so depending on the look of the saber depends on whos it is. Like Anakin, luke, and reys rendition of the saber all have different buttons and side buttons. So whenever they make saber based off is who it belongs to. So by law its reys by merch release it depends how/what they release
Van Candy It’s was Anakin’s in the hands of Anakin and it was Anakin’s in the hands of Luke. It’s STILL Anakin’s in the hands of Rey. It’s simply not Rey’s saber, her saber would be the one she actually created. Maybe I don’t understand the “inheritance” or the “law”, but I understand Star Wars.
I hope you still respond to this but what locations can you get the disney park exclusive blade. Like can you get it in Disneyland Paris or is it only for america
LeafyLeafeon 382 we honestly aren’t sure if you can purchase any lightsabers outside of the US parks. The Galaxy’s edge version is obviously only available in Orlando and Anaheim but you might have luck finding the Disney parks one outside of the US. As far as blades for that saber, you can’t even purchase them in the parks in the US since they’re a package deal. Ebay would be your best bet. Hope this helps.
so many grown men getting mad heated they called the saber Rey's lmao. haven't yall seen the ownership laws video? It's Rey's lightsaber now, hell even the saber itself called to be hers lol
@@RazrzeroMobile This fictional universe still follows our property laws. It's no longer the Skywalker Lightsaber since all but 1 Skywalker is dead and that Skywalker doesn't even care for it. If we include the dead, then Rey has all the more reason to have it since both Anakin and Luke were cool with passing it on. Like, wills and inheritance dictate that living people own things
Saber is based off how we find in TFA and it comes into reys hands. Star Wars IRL made a video and by law it is reys saber, by law. And each movie is different from one another other than 7&8. So depending on how it looks is whos it is
@William Arnett I know, but thats just a further point. Like I said to many others, the lightsaber has 4-5 different designs. Anakins model is different to lukes and lukes is different to reys. So if you want to know who's is whos, look up Skywalker saber on google and you should get 3 different sabers
Sir Dankleberry not really, Rey didn’t steal it, she was given it my Maz/Finn. She gave it to Luke himself (twice) who inherited it from anakin and he told her to keep it. So the way I see it is however the lightsaber is the legacy skywalker saber. It’s the anakins Luke’s and Rey’s.
Van Candy That’s real world law not Galactic Law and Maz never handed it into authority’s so she also stole it. Also Ben Solo being the last descendent has a claim on it which Rey stole from him.
In a legal sense it is actually Rey's saber. Please, Watch this breakdown of all connections and legal terms proving it actually is Rey's saber. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uq_IHOlKoHA.html
Acke By law its stolen property but that aside Star Wars law is different from real world law, a lightsaber is the personification of the Jedi who built it thus it’s Anakin’s.
@@SirDankleberry - I can tell you haven't watched my link. In a legal sense a lost property, when Anakin lost his light saber and didn't claim it as lost it will automatically fall into the founders possession. ObiWan was the legal owner when he gave it to Luke. And as soon as Luke accepts the gift from ObiWan it's his light saber. Please watch the video I've linked to.
This video is very informative I’m trying to get a force fx saber online from a seller and I noticed he had a legacy saber online posted on his shop and they look identical but this video had a lot of info and helped me tell the difference
@@FBI_Not that anakin saber was my first saber I bought I have since den learned a lot more about sabers and have gotten 20+ lightsabers 9 ecopixels and the rest are legacy/rgb sabers but yes I am very interested legacy sabers are trashhh they are chunky for no reason what so ever we’ll actually they are chunky bc Disney make they own tech to work with the lightsaber but still they make em chunky and pricey for something some white dude spent two years to create meanwhile we got alla in Asia who can make em 5x better for a little more chicken but a better bang fo ya buck
To all of you saying it was anakins. Not technically. Its the Skywalker Legacy saber, anakin had other sabers including his Darth Vader one. And luke had his green one also. It is the Skywalkers saber. Not Rey, Not luke, Not Anakin
Wish people watched till the end to atleast learn theres a differences in the sabers from Anakin's to when Luke/Rey used it. Calling it Rey's is the best way to identify it right now
Laura Doan yea it was our bad. We had the white balance set a certain way during the earlier shots and forgot to reset it when shooting those saber shots. Noticed during editing. Definitely not purple looking in person.
It's the *Skywalker Lightsaber* not the "Rey Lightsaber." In Legends, the Skywalker Lightsaber was passed down the Skywalker bloodline for over 150 years.
I see all the comments saying it's Anakin's but i mean arguably this isn't Anakin's it's Luke's. Anakin's is the episode 3 design whereas this is the Luke design after Obi Wan changed it
Bought the Disney Parks one as it was going for cheap but decided to sell it because the Legacy version to me is better. The Clamp in the right spot but more importantly, I can replace the blade if it breaks.
Its Rey's lightsaber get it right. watch star wars irl's video. It was anakins but when you lose an item, it is given to the wife, so it was padmes lightsaber. Padme died so it is giving it the children. They are too young so it is given to the closest relative, obi wan. Then given to luke when hes old enough, but he lost it. Now luke has 30 days to get the lightsabr back or its the finders. So it was maz's lightsaber but she gave it to fin, who gave it to rey. Rey offered it to luke but he denied it. SO THEREFORE ITS REY. YOU CANT ARGUE ITS THE LAW.
