Rey Mysterio talks about the influence he’s had on smaller wrestlers and pro wrestling in general due to what he was able to accomplish despite his size #wwe #wrestling #reymysterio
@@hardcoreking52 the Mask thing is more of traditional Mexican thing - when you lose the Mask - no one before Rey got their mask back or came back as the same character with the same Mask. Rey had to go get permission from the Lucha Libre commission to get his mask back... and to a traditionalist - that might not sit well.
It's a good point. Because of how different he is from pretty much everyone before him, it's hard to argue he's not in the top 10 most influential wrestlers of all time.
@@gordonwong2798it’s a short list of wrestlers who dnt need to be champion to prove they one of them ones after a while. I can tell you Rey is one of em. His legacy is solidified forever.
Will never forget when I went to the royal rumble all my dad could afford was cheap seats but as a kid it was so worth it seeing Rey winning the way he did
Muggsy is a great Rey parallel! Hornswoggle is a whole different game, but now I wish I could see Swoggle v Rey!! Rey would look like Big Show for a match!
It's crazy to think how much this sentence applies to both Rey Mysterio and Undertaker. When you hear this generation's wrestlers talk, I think these two are probably those that come up the most as the "I grew up watching him and wanting to be like him"
“Of that level”. Even while being considered one of if not the greatest luchador in history. He still has the humility and respect for his peers to acknowledge that they too are amazing. It’s one thing to look down at the people praising you. It’s another to have the humility to look at them head on.
Not even wrestlers rey mysterio has stamped him self in the culture of music too (specifically rap cause you hear a lot of rappers refer to wrestlers) rey mysterio is a legend no doubt about it. Man deserved his 2024 hof induction
Not gonna lie, Rey got me inspired to sign up for wrestling in high achool, and it ended up giving me a huge confidence boost since I was a shy, dorky kid back then. While I didn't end up becoming a wrestler like him, I can say I owe him for being able to be the guy I am today
Rey is just focusing on what he wants to do, and throughout his entire career, he has inspired many current and upcoming wrestlers to be confident with themselves despite the size difference.
That's why he deserves to be up there in terms of ranking greatness. If not for rey, you'd have all these >6' >220 guys having to just settle for mid card
Rey's an amazing wrestler, difference between Rey and a lot of other smaller wrestlers is Rey has always been in great shape and has always been an underdog. He doesn't flip around the ring because he wants to show off but because from a gimmick point of view he HAS too to have a chance at winning. He can't go toe to toe with the bigger guys but what he does have is more heart in the fight and he'll maximise every inch of his body to win. Lots of the modern smaller wrestlers don't do that tbh aside from maybe Chad Gable but Chad isn't a high flyer. Other smaller guys give the impression that they just want to show off and are doing that stuff simply because they can.
I'm 5'8 and as a kid Eddie Guerrero and Juventude Guerra were the biggest wrestling influences for me and men my size also had Chris Jericho and Dean Milenko but I can see how the next generation could see Rey as the epitome of Lucha
Man actually came to the studio with a mask too😂 C'mon Rey we saw your face, but you gotta love old school wrestlers they actually know to always stay in character👏
Rey was seriously inspiring for me when i was younger and even still to this day as a (recent) 25 yearold, i always thought his 619 was the sickest fucking move.
I had to subscribe. Seeing these wrestlers I grew up with is beautiful explaining a lot of bts with wwe and their own impacts to the world. They are the reasons we do or say or unknowingly act out. Undertaker is the reason roll my eyes in the back of my head to scare kids when they being bad
Rey was one of my favorites! He had some great matchups with Dean Malenko in WCW that were pretty awesome. The fast pace action of Mysterio, epic stuff! Fun wrestling indeed!
Rey finally getting his props , not that he hasnt been recognized before but to have whole generations to say he’s one of the greats , man what a time to be alive ,, RIP Eddie , I bet he would be mad proud of Rey … VIVA LA RAZA !!!!!
Rey will always be in my top 3 wrestlers. Never watched it much but even playing the games he would do stuff nobody else could. Nothing beats front flipping a guy into a slam still to this day
i absolutely adored rey as a kid, seeing him go against guys like big show, mark henry and undertaker was amazing to watch. he would dance circles around those giants while being half their size.
I'm not a fan of wrestling, but I've always had a friend or two that is into it. The athleticism is absolutely amazing, and the punishment that they put themselves through is wild. A lot of them seem like good people, too. I'll never watch it, but they definitely have my respect.
Rey really got me into it I just remember his old entrance on smackdown i randomly tune in and he was the first person I saw and been a fan every since gotta love Rey he got a lot of people into it
Always been on the smaller side of the spectrum in life but man watching Ray wrestle all those behemoths made me to the man I am bro had heart and 10 year old me thank you for that legend ♥️
It's amazing it took him 20 years he was a veteran that had influence with 70% of wrestlers today. Probably because WWE only had big guys besides Kofi and a couple of other
Rey, Jeff Hardy, RVD. Those 3 had really big influence. But Rey had the most, because it was so cool to watch him. Everytime, you cheered and hoped for him to win and deliver and do some magic ✨
I have always been a die hard mysterio fan, and lateron met many such fans and one thing i realised that rey was so much loved because he was like a beacon of hope for many of us. If a man of his size can survive and progress in a industry/company which is ruled by monsters we can do fine in normal lives. He was a inspiration. Man has faced likes of lesnar batista and undertaker himself.
Ray is a definitely a role model, he was wwe underdog despite his size and under rates, ray definitely inspired me to try wrestling even tho it didn't work out with my adhd due to non one on one teaching and being un athletic.
Rwy Mysterio was definitely an influence on us as kids alone 😂 he was excited to watch . Gotta add billy Kidman , juvi , and Eddie Guerrero just was amazing
Rey Mysterious had the most entertaining style out of basically any of my decade of watch time. Loved to see undertaker and Cena come out, but no one had Rey's Style
Shit like this makes me wonder what his and Dominick’s relationship is really like. In all his interviews he always seems so down to earth and grateful, he had to of been an awesome dad
0:42 I thought he was gonna choke up on us for a second, he's such a humble wrestler. Him, Eddie, DDP and The Outsiders were my 5 faves in WCW vs NWO ✊🏾👐🏾🤘🏾
