JP vs gief is doable. Just need 2 or 3 combos. SF4 was much worse for gief.

TBF the top 8 had 1 JP , 1 Ken , 2 Juri's 1 Luke , A Gief and a Rashid lol.

I think the new mechanic really helps Gief out. In sfv he'd already have lost 1/3 or more of his health chip damage from blocking or gray health from vskill armor by the times he's able to get in from all the zoning.

I only played the two CBTs and even I know how hard it is to beat JP. The recent tournaments showed how tough it is to deal with his zoning game. Snake is just on a whole different level. Other Giefs would most likely be blown away.

I remember first seeing him make a statement with orange pants Gief in ST HD Remix, he won EVO 2010 for that. I think he preferred ST, but then learned SF4 because of the competitive direction.

Exactly. Gief players know how hard this is, yet non-Gief players like to lecture that it's "doable". I'm platinum 4 too.

As a diamond gief, it is certainly a tough matchup, but don't use that as an excuse, use that as a reason to spd jp even harder, best of luck comrades

​@@lukeblaker8009- Not an excuse no, the match up is still fun, especially when you bag a win. Just saying it's in JP favour - because Gief cannot afford to burnout and lose parry, whereas playing an opponent in burnout is no different to usual for Gief.

@@lukeblaker8009 I never say it's an excuse. But it's a clear fact for Gief that he needs to work super hard to beat JP. And btw, i have four characters at Diamond (Ryu at Diamond 2, Lily-Marisa-Luke at Diamond 1) so i know how hard the matchup against JP with other characters as well.

I think Ita could get in, but we'll see.

@@GamingCentralTV1 Only Gief's EX- Lariat should hit people from behind. He should have to pay with meter in order to anti-air that effectively. Forget the extra move and keep the damage. That makes every match with Zangief nerve-wracking, and that is the way it should be.

Maybe instead of calling for nerfs focus up and improve like Snake Eyez. We not getting a balance patch for a whiiiile, and fortunately the game is in a state where anyone could win and the most represented character Ken is also just the most popular character

Snake is also a pro player, and yeah it was a hard thing to do, but that only talks of the caliber of player snake is and grief is in desperate form to get some buffs.

@@Amaling snake eyez is in the top top top percentage of fgc players who also so happens to play a low tier character. there are few characters in the game that can carry a new to mid level player much further than the rest, one of those being jp. to say the average player needs to focus up is dodging the fact that jp does need nerfs of some kind, as does the other top 4 or 5 characters. if you play any fighting game, its a given that you would try to get better at it despite the obvious disparity in character balance. you cant tell everyone to ignore the glaring issues of certain characters and to simply get good like the pros.

I feel like people going "Zangief doesn't need a buff, just look at Snake Eyez" forget that Snake Eyez has historically always been a Zangief player. He was famous for it in 4, famous for it in 5, and is hella famous for it in 6. He can't be used asa reference; he was going to find a way to make Zangief work no matter what and if the expectation is that players just commit the same time and effort to achieve similar results, that is simply unrealistic. Zangief needs buffs. I wouldn't say it's the weakest he's ever been, but you FEEL the absence of Green Hand and Flex Parry.

@@quarium5681 I don't care who players pick. It's up to them. But when you pick JP, Ken, Luke, Guile, or Juri, YOU HAVE TO WIN YOUR MATCHUP. No excuses. You can't say you are at a disadvantage. When a player picks the worst character (generally speaking) in the game, and wins a major tournament, he gets ULTIMATE respect. When you win a tournament with one of those 5 that I mentioned, you are a good player, but you SHOULD win. Reynald should be embarrassed for getting 3-0d in that second set. I don't care that it was Snake Eyez on the other side.

Sorry but its not about abusing characters, those you mentioned are easy to play. The problem is that people don't want to struggle to play the game, and that's what playing with zangief awful tools is, struggling all the time.
